I've been going through Theme songs from when I was a kid. I don't know why I torture myself this way. Parents and Sister, Passed away, all who'd I watch these shows with in our Living Room gone. Robert Blake Passed...My Mother Loved Robert Blake...smile.
Hi. I'm not just saying this..., I understand you. Listening to these tunes... Baretta, Taxi, Kojak, Starsky and Hutch, Banacek, Hill Street Blues, and for the UK.., Tales Of The Unexpected, The Two Ronnie's, Rising Damp, Butterfly's, and too many more to remember. I think it brings us the comfort and stability of our childhood when all was good and easy. Family was all present, alive and in one warm full house. I too listen to these tunes once in a while and the emotions flow. You're not the only one.
@@Nikki76377, I don’t understand why this, being one of the most popular shows of the 70s, isn’t available on BluRay. Amazon does carry season-1 on DVD.
My dad went to night school back then, and I remember he got home just in time for us to watch what he called, “The Dummy and the Bird.” Loved those nights watching TV with Dad. At 10:00, on Monday’s we had SWAT and Wednesday’s Baretta, we rounded out the week checking out The Six Million Dollar Man…. Good times…
Take me back to my childhood memories 😊..... the 70's... and other TV shows from that era.... with the passing of Bob Newhart, listened to opening theme song from his show.. Phil Donahue, married to Marlo Thomas.. That Girl, TV show and Room 222.... brought back a lot of childhood memories 🥲. Just turned 62 , last week. Didn't know that was song 🎶 by Sammy Davis Jr. Thanks for the knowledge..👍
Barretta was the most realistic and coolest. The song was all over 1970s. I started watching reruns of Mannix and Canon on Amazon and it brought back so many memories
Thank you for your service, it’s a really tough job. I hope you are enjoying your retirement! My brother was a cop for 30 years and he saw some really horrible stuff, I don’t think he ever got over it. He passed away last year.
Baretta was my childhood hero. I wanted to be like him. I ended up as a Special Agent of the US Air Force Office of Special Investigations. Often working undercover in various places in the world. I'm retired now. What a life it was!
THIS THEME (along with a few others ) .... is stuck in my head FOREVERMORE!!!! And i'm glad and happy to have been born where and when i was. I miss 1970's/80's TV.
I was just a baby back in the 70's when this was running on ABC. but I do remember my parents watching this. and having me and my brother's sitting on the floor in front on the T.v. days when the whole family watched T.v together, in ONE room. these days, families DON'T gather in ONE room to watch T.v anymore.
Hearing this song brings back good childhood memories. As a kid growing up in the 1970s Baretta was one of my favorite tv shows. I really believed what this show stood for. Just in the opening theme song alone life lessons were being taught - 1.) "Don't go to bed with no price on your head." 2.) "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time." 3.) "Don't roll the dice if you can't pay the price." 4.) "Don't run your feet down no dead-end street." 5.) "Don't do me dirt or you're gonna get hurt." 6.) "Don't run away until you hear what I say."
Tv theme songs of the 70's and 80's were the best. Beretta was a very good cop show. My older brother especially liked this show. Gawd i miss 70's tv.😢
RIP Robert Blake We'll never know the truth of what happened to Bonny, but that's between you & your maker. I still enjoyed the gift you gave with this show of my childhood.
@@Mister_Listener Robert Blake was acquitted in his criminal trial. There wasn't enough evidence. So I'm not going to blatantly say he did the crime based on his civil trial, because those cases require little evidence for a conviction. That's why I left the question open, but you're free to believe what you want
@@Mister_Listener Sure OJ lost his civil case, but Casey Anthony won two civil cases--one against a witness that defamed her.--and the second brought against her by the nanny. So does that make public perception of Anthony's guilt any less valid? That's why civil cases are a poor measurement of a person's guilt. Decades often pass before the real perp in a case gets caught. Just because they haven't been found is not reason for claiming the accused did the crime, especially when they've been found not guilty in a court of law like Robert Blake. If I didn't have questions about him, I wouldn't have brought Bonnie up in my original post. But I'm also not going to state a claim of guilt based on lack of evidence that jurors felt was needed to convict him.
As a small child in the mid 70s, every time I heard this song coming from the living room I knew where I could find my dad...on the recliner in front of the TV.😉
What an Opening Song! When I was a Little kid, This intro got me every time I watched this Series on my Black and White TV here in my country LONG TIME ago. Greetings from Argentina
I never knew Sammy Davis Junior sang the theme of Barretta until today..😊. I used to watch this TV show at home with my mom during some wonderful times. ❤ What a blessing to hear it all over again.
A, I have no idea how this popped up in my feed. B, I had no idea Dave Grusin wrote this! Back in the day I didn't like it when they went from the instrumental theme to the version with Sammy Davis, Jr.. Now, I can't get enough of it, and I really appreciate the power of the man's voice. 👍👍
In the 70ies when we could still receive netherland TV in Germany this was my favourite show. Loved the theme. Like Isaac Hayes theme from Shaft ❤. Got me hooked in my teens for Soul, R&B and Funk.
I'm at it again! Sammy dave grusin and the band did this one to death! I love these 70s tv themes. I grew up on these shows and never get tired of the creativity
Robert was a mad man, heard him tell a story that they use to lock him on the Universal lot at nights because he was such a bad drunk and wouldn’t show for work in the morning. He said one night he was locked in so he got drunk and drove the tour bus into the Red Sea set from the Ten Commandments movie .
As a kid, I loved watching Baretta...I thought he was not only cool but also very funny. The theme song was the icing on the cake... with the Amazing Sammy Davis Jr.
I remember watching re-run episodes of Beretta before having to go to work in the "grave yard" shift at UPS back in the 70's. I always wanted to own a cockatiel bird because of this show but never ever got one.
As a young kid in the 60’s Jonny Quest was always watched by me and my brother. I’ve seen every episode of Jonny Quest in black and white. We didn’t have color TV until 1970
Johnny Quest ... I recently pulled that up, on RU-vid, and do remember The planet of the Apes, cartoon, the opening theme/intro was scary/frightening. And Star Trek, the animated series....🥲 Huckle Berry Thin 🤔
I don't remember if I ever sat through an episode, I remember bits of it. I was very young. But who can forget that song! Every now and again I'll randomly sing a line so finding this was a treat! Don't do the crime...!
Robert Blake also played the role of "Mickey" as a child in the Little Rascals. Both Blake and Davis Jr. had just one 👁️ and one 🧬 and one🕐 and one ❤ passion.
