I mean the guy dived into 'mixed' martial arts being a champion of just one. He has no strength training, wrestling or ground skills to speak of. If he trains hard in wrestling and BJJ so he can keep things standing and then get back up if/ when it goes to the ground, then he might stand a chance (and may even possibly become reasonably successful once again).

You do realize that dave can fuck those guys up in his own sport right? Plenty of mma guys tried lethwei and failed. He's a striker, and lethwei is a style of fighting that's mostly strikes, mma has grappling and strikes, But you can tell the mma guy couldn't even keep up with the striking. So he grappled instead🤷 If they were to fight again in lethwei rules, that mma guy will not survive

The more people compete, the deeper the talent pool becomes. Very few people do lethwei professionally compared to muay thai or mma. Leduc is not bad at mma because they don't allow headbutts. He's good at lethwei because the talent pool isn't as deep as mma or muay thai, and just by being a competent journeyman fighter in muay thai or mma, that makes him the best person ever at lethwei. It's like the best basketball player vs the best pickleball player. If Lebron James and Tom Brady decided to join together and start a pickleball team they'd be the GOATs (after a bit of time practicing), just because they're far superior athletes compared to any other pickleball players. Or more aptly perhaps, if you took NFL and NBA benchwarmers they would dominate pickleball, dodgeball, or any other semi-professional sport.

Dave has a good gift for stand fighting. Good instincts. He transition very fluidly to these spinning fists. Also he's quite a badass, for stepping into the ring against Thai's and Lethwei fighters so inexperienced, and then into the octogon. It's easy to throw mud to the one who loses a fight. I guess it was the same in Rome when the crowd were booing the gladiators who were bested. Leduc doesn't have to be an all beating champion in every rule set. He spearheads the international populatization of Lethwei by cometing in it, and promotes the Burmese culture. That's admirable. For all you non fighters who point fingers at other fighters losing....everyone loses!!!!. In the martial arts, losing is winning, it is a part of it. The martial arts is the development of one's self, to make yourself better. In order to win, you have to lose...a lot....in BJJ you will get tapped out, in wrestling you will get smashed, in boxing or muay thai you will get beaten down and in MMA you will lose. Champions learn from mistakes and get better. When your knocked down, get back up. You may have lost the battle but you can still win the war!

I understand why the ref stopped the fight... but I truly believe Dave could have taken the last minute of the round with guy blasting him, stand up without a scratch and his opponent would have had to fight the second round with broken fists. But good call ref.
Leduc is very agressive when it comes to lethwei, but going to a MMA fight with little to no grappling training on the ground is not effective. I think complete fighters must have striking and grappling training.

This particular fight is one of his very first attempts at ANY combat sport, and far before he went into Tiger Muay Thai for 2yrs. I'd say I'd like to see him try his hand at MMA once more, just to see his difference now vs back then. Even if just for the exhibition of it. It'd be interesting to see.
You can be a Lethwei champion. Because Lethwei is unlimited in weight and height. None of the Letwei fighters jumped on their heads to headbutt. Dave just bows down to headbutt.

Headbutts were banned in MMA because of a wrestler, not lethwei. So a wrestler would just take him down and just maul him to death from guard with head butts. Headbutts are for grapplers, not strikers.

His technique is terrible. He now fights smaller dudes @ lethwei. He's never even remotely fought adequete competition in muay thai, all his muay thai fights were against some taxi drivers.
Leduc should train Jui Jitsu and MMA wrestling he's got those long flexible limps but he looked like a turtle stuck on his back... And learn MMA striking, it's a slightly different stance and timing than Lethwei striking
