Nah, he hasn't even been acquitted on all of the charges, and the jury were clearly well split. Shows you how fine a line a 'verdict' is. The verdict counts on the extra opinion of one or two people who were swayed and charmed by celebrity witnesses who DLT wouldn't have let see his acts anyway, saying he was a 'friendly man'. No dozen different unrelated women would have all said the same things about the same completely innocent man when they didn't pick on any other more successful and wealthy D.J., like Noel Edmonds. If one person mad the allegations, maybe. But not 12.

***** I'm sorry but that's absurd; under the current climate, the rich and famous are fair game and do not receive special treatment. If they did, why would the CPS have decided to proceed with this at all? And the very fact that the complainants are treated with impunity and anonymity demonstrates that our legal system is NOT slanted in favour of the privileged few. What do the jury have to gain from protecting DLT? Most of them wouldn't have heard of him before the trial. Perhaps you prefer "Trial by Media" to deliver the verdict that suits you?

Rob Cornwell Well trial by media is, to an extent, what has been going on. This "court" delivering a ruined reputation rather than imprisonment. I hold that cases like this one should never have got to court. There seems to have been no objective evidence to convict Mr Travis beyond a reasonable doubt. Numbers of accusers has little to do with proving guilt, and it's especially dangerous to reach verdicts based in this when it comes to the famous. Twelve accusers out of a population of 60 million or so is not many when it comes to well known individuals, and one publicized allegation about a famous name can soon lead to more of the same - claims beyond substantiation by due process of law.

***** Any allegations made by respondents here who are in the UK and publicly saying Mr Travis is gulty of x/y/z could indeed lead to Mr Travis taking legal action for libel against them.

dapper041 Please don't say I am writing what I have clearly not written and put your own words in my mouth. He is legally not guilty of the charges so far, if the other 2 are dropped he has been cleared of all charges. So the jury, which heard all the evidence, cleared him of the charges so far. If someone doesn't accept Mr Travis has been shown to be a sex criminal (which is a legal fact), you ask if they are "paedos". Where does this sort of reasoning lead us? Has a jury which finds people not guilty of sex crime possibly done so because they are sex criminals themselves? Do rape trial juries which clear defendants do so because the jurors are maybe rapists? Do murder trial juries which clear the defendant do so because maybe they are murderers too? He won his case, so far, that's what he did about it - but it has severely penalized him financially and publicly scarred him. Most of his accusers remain anonymous. Anyone in the UK making a public allegation about an individual, famous or not, can be sued for defamation. They would would come to "care" if found guilty of defamation - and then having to pay damages to the person concerned. Alleged libel on the internet is legally no different to libel in the press - it's all publishing. That's why the press are so careful about it. If a person is a UK resident and make potentially libelous comments, publicly published on social media about a specific individual, they can be sued by that individual. You cannot be found guilty of defamation if what you say is proved not to be libellous - ie what you have written can be shown to be true. In this case, a court has cleared Mr Travis on all but 2 charges - Mr Travis should find out today if he is to be retried on those 2 charges the jury failed to reach a verdict on. Paedos should be tried and convicted , as should rapists and any offender - on the basis of evidence proving they are such beyond a reasonable doubt, and it's proved to the satisfaction of the court that they committed the offenses. That is English legal requirement. Some may prefer kangaroo courts or convicting by a vote on youtube, using only one sided allegation - they should hope they never appear before such a "court" themselves.

Unfortunately those in authority who have publicly humiliated Mr Travis and cost him a fortune, as is the case with the political class, never have to answer for their idiocies and errors. Until such public officials are made accountable for what they do, they know that personally, no poor quality decisions to prosecute will come back to bite them. So you are more likely to get cases where the prosecution counts seem based upon woefully inadequate "evidence". Power without responsibility/accountability.
