I was blessed to be able to see Dave at a small venue in Portland Oregon called the Aladdin. It occurred on November 11 2022. Dave's vocals and guitar playing were timeless. The musicians that accompanied him were consummate professionals. I purchased a real cool T shirt with Dave's 21st century persona embossed on its front. Forty dollars well spent. The beauty and power of his music has not faded.
Rose I love the version of this song that D.M. recorded on an album in early to mid 70’s. He makes his Firebird absolutely growl at the beginning . Still my favorite version of all that have recorded over the years.
One of the greatest Acoustic Versions I've ever heard of one of my favorite tunes of all time, "All Along The Watch Tower", Hats off to Dave Mason, (Traffic), And Jim Krueger!!👍
Excellent! I met Jim in a bar/grill many years ago in Van Nuys, California called The Beer Stein. He used to come in for the grilled bratwurst, a real gentleman he is. This is just so damn good.
You may well wonder ..where have l been..just recently discovered this phenom singer/musician..lucky me to have stayed alive long enough to be ecstatically entertained …hopefully for years to come..thank you to the powers that be..🇨🇦
Saw Dave at the stone pony club in New Jersey, a show IL never forgot , I met him in person . There. 2004. Dave was with traffic in the early days . Great musician an a great guy ❤️
Mason played the original backing track with Jimi of his studio version of this and JH worked out the electric parts with many overdubs for a couple more months. Until it was right!
I’m not an acoustic aficionado, but like you said, all the sounds are clear and buzz free, not matter the speed of the changes or length of the neck he’s moving. I know Jim was no slouch, but this is up there with any of the best stuff I’ve seen
Glad you enjoyed it Rich. There is another from this same show that was on RU-vid for exactly 1 year to the day I posted this one. Since there are few videos of Jim I felt I should share this one as well.
I grew up in a town 25 minutes from where he’s from. I know as much or more about music and bands, even ones I’ve never listened to than almost anyone I know. Even though I had heard We Just Disagree, and knew of Jim’s later band the Happy Schnapps Combo, I’d never heard his name. There is little to nothing online about him, but he put out at least one solo album in the late 70’s, as well as playing and singing in a progish rockish group. Sometimes people just fall thru the cracks, and guess Jim, despite obviously being an amazing guitarist (who was known in the industry as a great harmony singer) and being pinup good-looking before starting the beard seem here, never quite found his niche. And it’s all of our loss
Absolutely great acoustic work on a Dylan and Hendrix classic. Thanks to Dave for his veteran charity performances!! PJ the Vet co-star of "Welcome Home" soon to be released.
There must be some way out of here", said the joker to the thief "There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth None of them along the line know what any of it is worth" "No reason to get excited," the thief, he kindly spoke "There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late" All along the watchtower, princes kept the view While all the women came and went, barefoot servants, too Outside in the distance a wildcat did growl Two riders were approaching, the wind began to howl
Dave Mason and Jim Krueger! No where on this video is the name KRUEGER mentioned. I searched; I found; I revealed. JIM K R U E G E R ! ! ! What up widdat ciscoglen?
Great acoustic performance of Dylan's Watchtower.......Thamks Glenn for replying...I loved this performance and I still own the VHS recorded tape of this concert........I was always looking to replace on DVD..............
ciscoglenn Thanks for bringing this back, Glenn. I grew up in L.A. and saw several shows at Perkins Palace. Dave's on tour right now, thinking about driving to Laughlin to see him.
It’s like he finally sees where Jim is going, and then Jim just goes in a completely different direction with those bassier notes. Watch Dave’s eyes when he changes up…
