Just saw Dave and his band on Valentines day 2023 and my goodness at 76 years old he sounded nothing short of amazing!!!! The man is just so impressive to have the motivation to still be onstage, sounding great and without slowing down. Still sounds just as crisp and clean playing the guitar as he ever did. If you haven't seen him you have to catch one of his Endangered Species tour shows, he's about to start his spring/summer leg of his tour on the East coast. Great set, great band just awesome!!!
My 21 year old son and I went to see Dave in Lawrence Kansas this summer. We had 8th row seats, but the place was fairly empty, so Dave had people move forward, and we sat in the front row. Dave hobbled as he walked out on stage, but he just NAILED that guitar, and his singing was PERFECT. We bought a few CDs and talked to him for a few minutes after the show. I think my son was the youngest person in the building by about 30 years, except those working there.
It's fascinating the way history repeats itself. I saw Dave Mason live in 1973 when he played at the university I attended. His album "It's Like You Never Left" had just come out; he was about 27 years old. The audience was of moderate but not large size, and Mason had us move forward. I was about 7 or 8 feet away from him and got probably the best view (both visual and audio) that I ever have had at a concert. He was remarkably gracious, and he was a fine musician. I knew his earlier work with Traffic, and I followed him over the years. I'm happy to see that he's still playing.
In 2000 I was watching PBS or some channel and I saw this oldish bald man singing. And he sounded exactly like Dave Mason. After watching for like 5 minutes I realized it was Dave. He looked so different, but the man could still sing. And 20 years later he still has that excellent Dave Mason voice and I love his guitar playing. I unfortunately haven't seen him in concert. One of these days I will.
I saw him new years eve in the 1980's at a little beach side small restaurant on highway one about five miles south of Half Moon Bay California. I was so lucky to have dinner five feet away from his magical music. He is why I got a 12 string guitar. He is the best 12 string guitarists of my life.
I saw DAVE in'74 àfter an NBA game in SAN DIEGO, and in LONGVIEW WA. What a singer & as he always to be the stuff dreams are made of as an excellent player. My favorite CD "SPLIT COCONUT" AMEN.
Saw Dave Mason in Austin in 1976. He had just released Split Coconut. He started the set with "Show me some Affection" & ended with "All Along the Watchtower". It was a really great concert!

Wow! Of course this was almost 4 years ago but, he sounded and played great. A lot of great bands play into their later years and just don't sound the same but, Dave sure is making it look easy here. I don't know who the drummer is but, he's got some chops as well as the whole band.
This is a great version of CFMWH I once saw Eric play it in the small band he did it on a small Martin acoustic. Mind blowing with Nathan East vox. Dave Mason..Yaay!🇬🇧
That’s some drummer, smooth like glass in a tight group. I didn’t pick up on Dave till 77 in Memphis, he takes a back seat to nobody, he’s just different, oh yeah, different!
