What I really lvoe about this song is how thick and suffocating it sounds during the verse, and when it gets to the chorus, it's like you're waking up in a better place. It get's so soft and dreammy.
My favorite song of all time after Lie in our graves. Just perfect, and LIOG is a step above perfect. Words were never made to describe something this good.
man the thing that i love about dmb soo much is that...his songs are like different genre...you cant compare them because they are great in their own unique way....my favorite song for dave changes like every 2 months lol
i wasn't talking about the song's meaning to Dave. i was talking about how the song relates to me. song's do that from time to time, u relate to them. so thank you on the leason. I didn't need it but none the less thanks any ways for clearing something up that wasn't cloudy. hope u have a good day
There are many things I love about Dave's writing and the DMB and Tim, but one thing that always gets me, aside from the beautiful music, is the way Dave's left-hand fingers float and dance about the fretboard. And he's singing!? Jeez. I mean, just watching his fretting hand move on the fretboard is an added plus about watching him play - inspirational, like his music.
this song is a masterpiece...lol, love it when dave shakes his left hand in the end because it hurts of playing this song...I can totally understand that, because I have to do this as well after playing the stone ^^
Dave Matthews is an incredibly talented musician, to play that picking style/ strumming and sing all at the same time is incredibly difficult and he does it no problem with someone else playin a different sound over him. If you ever Heard "When the world ends" he's playing a broken strum pattern and the song is off beat from his singing but it sounds amazing.
this song is about a lot of things. its about his dead sister, about how people perceive him and his band, about black and white, about the struggle, about how he just want to express his feeling in his song to the fans (I was wondering if you would come along and hold up my head, i will do the same for you). about whatever you want it to be. different people with different view. His music is all about wisdoms and love.
It was about his sister who was killed by her husband. (Anne I think her name was?) In Africa. This was written long before that girl he proposed to for 4 times. The song about that is called Grey Street.
@sheabraden dave had skipped the part "i was just wondering..." the last time through so i thinking he was letting tim know that he was just going to go into it.
This song is incredible, if anyones interested, check out my acoustic cover on my page, I dont think its all that bad, although its got nothin on this!
Danny Send me your e-mail address in a personal message, I should be able to do a B+P for you and send you a bunch of acoustic versions of it, I'll make a compilation from some of the shows i have
