Miss hearing Boyd for sure, but Buddy Strong is such a talented genius. And it’s like Rashawn has ALWAYS captured Roi’s spirit sooooo respectfully and beautifully 💫
It's the energy. The being present in every moment. The listening, contributing, exploring. I'll miss Boyd forever, I think the band is better now. They've been "on" since 2019, but Covid got in the way for a while. I've been going to shows since 95 and to my ears this band is as effortlessly great as any previous iteration. Everything is that perfect blend of tight/loose. And when they venture all the way to the loose side, when they explore, they're on a completely different level. They will never be the same as they were in (insert year here) because they're different people now. I like these people. I like this band. They're really really good.

I have missed the “back from the day” May tour dates for Texas that I went to for 20 + years.. Covid fucked it all up, but the Summer Drive In series saved my life. Then we saw them in 2021 in New Mexico and the show was stellar and magical but the crowd vibe was different. Ive been longing for this again!!!!!! aaahhh it’s 5 AM and I’m so excited I can’t sleep anymore lol 💫💫
Thank you for this, Andy! I was at this show (at the very top lol) and enjoyed EVERY minute of it. My first DMB show ever and in my hometown ATX. I was hoping they’d play Two Step but Madman’s Eyes and Dancing Nancies were instant favorites. Thanks for sharing and for the time stamps! 🙌🏽
This is an excellent video. Even though the sound quality isn't the best I actually feel like I'm there because of the aspect angle. Mad props to the camera operator....
