ChesterCopperpot I cannot thank you enough or tell you what this means to me. I was a freshmen in college & my friends talked me into going to see "this new band" play at the Flood Zone. I really didn't want to go but who turns down live music & cheep drinks? It was this show & my 1st but not last DMB show. Cannot believe I am disclosing my age but damn those were some wild shows and I still see them every summer they have played since 1992. But finding the vintage DMB live shows recorded is not easy so thank you, Brings back unbelievable memories & mind blowing times.

Footage like this is so cool for me to see as a 21-year-old who's only really discovered and fallen in love with DMB over the last couple years. They're my favorite band now, but obviously the line-up I know is totally different from this original '90s gang. This is the DMB my Dad knew growing up, and it's super cool to get to see it.

nothing can take away the magic of teleportation. stuff like this offers to those (that weren't so lucky to have been there in person) an amazing opportunity. I recently found "Remember Two Things" on CD at my local record store, and have been really digging that early nineties sound. Although, 1995 sounds great on them too. THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORK!!!!!!!!

This was filmed the year I was born, yet I listen to them every single day. Their music is timeless!

I remember DMB was the Wednesday night band at the Flood Zone and we used to bring friends down weekly to these shows. I was prob at this one. This was during the grunge Seattle Scene and the sound was unlike anything out there... the jam at 32:00. Great memories.

This is where, at The Flood Zone, they recorded "Recently" on Remember Two Things (arguably one of their greatest albums). Great show. And what, they'd only been together a year or so at this point. It's no surprise they became an icon for decades.

For being 23 years old and have gone to 5 DMB concerts, this kind of footage is insane to me!!

You missed it, kid. You would love to see him here in Richmond 25 years ago. I was 5 yrs old and going to every concert in Richmond. My mom was dating the Richmond DJ and getting to hang out with Dave. As a toddler, I got to tag along. Richmond in the 90's is peak nostalgia.

whats insane to me is almost all the best songs were already written by like 93 and how long it took before everyone heard of them despite always playing. absolutely all songs if you include crash by 96

Wow this is cryptic to watch! He’s so skinny and clearly still unsure of himself but musturding the courage to perform. It’s almost like a cover band with a guy that needs a sandwich and sounds just like Dave. Thank you for uploading this seriously.

If y’all could have only seen Boyd’s fiddle strings popping one after the other at the Richmond show as he was jamming his heart out that night you’d know. It was effing incredible! If you were there you know! Carpenter center 1995.

@@JayBTV back in the mid 90s I was a DMB taper, had about two dozen shows including the DKE show. There were numerous taping message boards where people would trade shows; it was insane. Nothing compared to the Grateful Dead taping community, but insane nonetheless.

There aren't any other circulating videos of DMB at the Floodzone unfortunately. I was lucky to get this one in 2009 from one of the guys who filmed it. There's lots of audio in circulation from back then but no other FZ videos. Very cool you were there! If _you_ happen to have any old DMB media that may not have made it to digital get in touch!

Had anybody figured out if Once on a Wild Afternoon is related to Minarets? That opening riff sounds awfully familiar... and the chord progression is so similar.

Mr. Tinsley has such an amazing, soulful voice. I don't think I've ever seen him with short hair, and Dave's change so much it seems his very bone structure has changed---both versions beautiful though. .

From listening to the earliest video of DMB at JMU, Boyd Tinsley changed the sound of DMB drastically. Change the course of this band IMO.
