This was one of the best Dave shows I’ve ever seen

Dave called this song on the spot after it started raining during Too Much. I was in the pit and remember Dave having a conversation with the rest of the band before playing JTR.

Appreciate your comment & noticing the details, but there’s always a verse there before the mid-song jam :) Always verse, chorus, verse, chorus, verse, jam, chorus, instrumental verse, breakdown… at least as far as I can remember But you’re right there are many many examples of them doing something exactly like you said where they handle hiccups beautifully!

@@guitarstuffs1236 I just remembered that usually it's first verse, "rain" bridge, second verse about darkness and light/devil and the lord, second "rain" bridge into the midsong jam...Dave could add 4 more verses and it would still be epic. Turn JTR into a 15 minute jamfest.😁

He usually screws up the lyrics to JTR at some point throughout the song 😂

I was at that show too! Man that was one gnarly thunderstorm, the lightning was scary AF! I was holding my breath, hoping like hell they'd play this song when they came back on stage... I was ecstatic!

I have seen 150+ shows over the last 25 years and to put that into perspective, my DMB almanac calculator thing says I have only heard it 17 times. I hope you get to hear it though. Make sure and buy your Reverb water bottle and enjoy yourself!!

This song originated as a tune called "Rain Down on Me" in which the lyrics of John the Revelator were used as an outro to the song. They reworked the song, dropped the John the Revelator references and decided to call it "JTR" , although the song now has nothing to do with John the Revelator (except for the song name itself).
