Recorded in the Before These Crowded Street sessions, MacHead was abandoned early on by the band. After 26 years, this recording finally sufficed on 6/30/24. Download: www.sendspace.com/file/y36bs5
I am in disbelief. I am 42yo now. I remember burning & trading CDs of .shn files in my college dorm room in the early 2000’s. My high school had our own section on the lawn: upper 600 at the Meadows. I still have the first AntsMarching.org t-shirt “Get-Railed” lol it’s cut up & stained with blood. DMB is the soundtrack to my life. The amount of girls I hooked up with at those concerts was more than I deserved. 100+ shows. Last year, I officially attended more shows with my wife than without. Oh Joy Begin came out when my daughter was born & then Dave released “Father & Son” on RU-vid right after my son was born. My wife & I are celebrating our 10th Anniversary next year at Moon Palace. “Funny the Way it Is” got me through the last months of Iraq (the only summer they toured & I missed them). I’m old enough to remember going all 3 nights in a row at Hartford. I was inside MSG when James Brown came out, & finished our Caribbean honey moon in 2015 to fly back to see the 4th of July show at SPAC where they came back for a 3rd Encore because the crowd was relentless with the USA chants. I’ve seen more teases into Halloween than I deserve & know about Heathcliff's Haiku Warriors. Boyd Tinselly hugged me, Carter handed me a stick after he saw my faded fire dancer tat on my shoulder (no regrets, it got me laid), & we met Jeff at the Westin Hotel in Virginia Beach. I’ll stop now, I know I’m not alone in this. I’m just a very loyal person & never gave up on the band after I “grew up.” I think the fact that my wife loves the band & our annual shows just as much as me means the world to me. I never thought I’d ever be able to share this with someone. Truly the soundtrack of my life! Her wedding ring says “take my hand” engraved on the inside. I’ll see u all the show :) Peace
Didn't think we'd ever get this. I remember in 2004 when Build You a House finally leaked in its "entirety" and then we also got Cigarette Lit I was hoping this would have come out too. Only took another 20 years.
This being leaked is the equivalent of archaeologists unearthing the lost city of Atlantis… Now I just wonder how it got leaked? It had to have been somebody pretty high up on the DMB food chain
The making of btcs had a list working titles of songs and this was one, and the legend grew…..a few people have claimed to have heard it and lillywhite described it in interviews….
@@hondusa3639 In the january episode of the corner of grey street podcast with lillywhite they talk about machead before it was leaked and they give a very accurate description of the song
Nah. BTCS is easily their best album and one of the best albums of all time imo. And based on interviews from Lillywhite some of that magic happened in spite of, rather than because of, his preferences.
The released album is already his preferred mix, it was the only album of theirs he had final cut on (UTTAD and portions of Crash were mixed by Tom Lord-Alge, neither to Lillywhite’s taste) He made reference to a few things he might have done differently during a podcast interview with Matt Norlander in 2018 (boosting Alanis during DDTW, toning down the Lovely Ladies in Stay) but always expresses immense satisfaction with the record and considers it some of his best work
As for the magic happening “in spite of” Lillywhite, it’s well documented that he pushed the band to be at their best technically and sonically (he also singlehandedly saved Don’t Drink the Water when the band was ready to abandon it, which Dave now considers the best song he ever wrote)
@@ryanmaher6129 No because of his work with the band on, objectively, their best three albums plus the Lillywhite sessions. No producer was able to get the best out of each individual musician like he could. You're probably a huge Glen Ballard fan boy or something.
@@ccstarz19 Steve Lillywhite also pulled the rug out from underneath them during the lillywhite sessions, but I’m sure you remember that. What a goat for someone who wanted to sabotage the band. But yes keep hitting us with your unattainable DMB knowledge.
@@ryanmaher6129I think it's the other way around, the band pulled the rug from underneath Lillywhite. He was in fact fired by Capshaw. Lillywhite said that himself. Even when they decided to re-do those songs the band bought in Steve Harris.
so what's so great about it? if was that good they would have released the song years ago! mow that is out, they can go back and put it away for good!!
Because unfortunately fans will eat 💩 on a plate from Dave's arse and say it's filet mignon. The standards for this band have dropped since the time of this recording because fans eat up any slop they put out so there's no motivation to raise their game
@@RajPaw-vi7qh The last couple albums have kinda been average. Their sound has no doubt changed over the years. I still love the band but it'll never be like it use to be.
@@washredskin887dude that’s life, people get old, no one stays on top for ever, but they keep coming back every summer to keep the party going so just look to the bright side. Don’t be one of those “the new albums suck” people. It is what it is. We’ll always have the concerts!
@@newbluerugbyI never said any of the newer albums suck. I just said they're " kinda average." I still like songs on the past few records. And I did say I still love the band, and always will.. Went to my first show in 92.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz borrrrrrring seriously people this is a massive nothing burger that you waited 25 yrs for and now you're acting like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Its a corny little demo that was scrapped for a reason. It's utter bollocks
so what's so great about it? if was that good they would have released the song years ago! mow that is out, they can go back and out it away for good!!
