He is also surprisingly shy & awkward....he's a reluctant star....a musician & artist 1st & a very brilliant man. That fine line between genius & nuts...that's Dave.
Never really gave these guys the time of day, but last night I wanted to listen to the time of the season and I found their remake. Now I cant get enough. These guys rock.
He is fabulous. They all are. There's a reason I've been a fan for 17 years! Thank you to my sister who introduced me to DMB when I was 12 years old; she was a freshman at the University of Alabama. Roll Tide and go Dave!
I love how Carter threw in a GORGEOUS double bass drum fill in at around 6:23. If only teenage drummers across the world would stop praising Travis Barker and watch real talent like in this band.
I love the kookiness. A lot of his songs can be kooky and it's funny (to me) to see him sitting down and hanging out. Heck, if it's stage fright, that's better than what I've got. That's awesome. I hope to attend his show May 23

@@tarawillis3995 a classic youtube comment. Why is it so hard to believe Dave Matthews gets stage fright? There are *plenty* of musicians who get it. Eddie Van Halen was notorious for it. Rihanna, Adele, Katy Perry, hell, even Pavarotti got it.
I know that the decision to make children, which often conflicts with great Conservationists like Dave, must have been a difficult decision to make; but I can't aside from Jesus, I can't think of another man more worthy of having children than Dave. I am so happy to hear that he brought even more Gifts into the world other than his teachings through Words and Music. His wife and kids have got to be absolute Ninjas.
Dave kept everybody under his wings. He brought everyone who started with him to success, even made the bar owner to be their manager, though things did not go well. Band is really tight and have individual musical freedom
Dave is soo amazing! I wish it had been a FULL band interview..Dave M. never disappoints though..Good to see Boyd in next to Dave when jammin..no disrespect to Tim...He is great too. I have had the privilege to see them live 8 times! This year's concert(on Sept. 25th)will be my first without Roi =(..I do love the new song's,can't wait to see them=9 day's and counting!!!!!! I guess it will just be different w/o Roi.BUT DAVE WILL ALWAY'S BE DAVE!
Proof positive that marriage and children plays well on Dave. He appears calm, confident and is dressed like it's date night with his sweetheart. Va va va voom, baby! It's enough to make women everywhere fall in love with him. Go Dave!
dave still looks damn good. but that strat... how weird! facial expression = priceless. love the band. i think that Big Whiskey is one of their best albums yet. Jeff Coffin (even though he's not as fantastic as Roi was) is pretty freaking amazing... any one else agree?
They also have two horn/reed players to replace LeRoy - It's hard filling the gap of a lost band member, I think they recovered beautifully. I saw them play less than month after his passing in San Diego and it was emotional.
@mjosty123 A VERY talented, rich, and most importantly happy person. How many times do you see him on the news for drugs? never! DUI? never! family troubles? never! Giving to schools? all the time! Playing some of the most brilliant musical and lyrical pieces with unarguably some of the best talents in music ever, they are all genius. So he comes off a bit odd sometimes, that a genius on the brink of going crazy. Look up some of the greats, they were all a bit crazy and thank god for them.
Man, I love Dave more than just about anything AND where he's always been just a very ODD DUCK, this has got TO BE THE ODDEST I think I've ever SEEN HIM; perhaps the oddest interview I've ever seen anyone give, at least ONE of the oddest. Is almost like, he's just not able to talk to anyone, when not havin' his guitar in his hands playing it, while singing song lyrics, preferably through some microphone some devil or angel something like that...LmMFaO! ;) :P :o)
@mooserack99 Travis Barker has his moments but absolutely. Another 'If Only' is if some drummers (not all) would stop blasting and doing mindless 16th kick fills. I heard 'Big Whiskey' and immediately the drumming (and specifically the kick fills) stands out. Sparingly used they pop out much more.
I've been a dmb fan for quite some time now, and I still think it's alil bit odd seeing dave strum an electric. I know people will say "oh he's getting older, he can do that!". Which is true, but I still miss the funky necklace,braclet, pajama wearing dave strumming on weird looking acoustics. Still good stuff though.
his music is still amazing. from like 2000-2008 his music wasnt as good. it had feel but not soul. then this album came out and it had soul again. but i still feel like dave is unhappy still, like he is still empty about lerois death. i dont think dave will ever be the same again and i dont think his music will either
Hahaha, I think people just think he's weird because whenever he does any kind of live performance, or interview, he's stated that he drinks a little bit before hand because he gets horrible stage freight and becomes very nervous. So typically he might be a little bit buzzed, but you're right, I'd give anything to live his life.
dave is so funny. thats why i love him. hes one of the best musicians in the world, yet hes not untoutchable. hes not like one of those dicks that thinks theyre better than eveyone, but he his just a human and he acctualy acts like it. hes down to earth and his awkwardness just makes him all the more awesome
@livershot Again you don't get my point... Dave is a genius and puts a lot of energy in every song he ever wrote... If you always fail to see that in his music I also don't know how much of nothing will you be in your life. It's not in being better, it's about appreciation. And yes, I've heard of minimalism, but I prefer art myself...
