Well yeah, people who lack self respect tend to take other people's disrespect. Never work for anyone who doesn't value your education. Kid made a big mistake. He will be tossed away like trash in a couple years.
@@HeriEystberg Because that "degree" would have been extremely valuable for future openings... Or could perhaps having a reference from fucking Dave Portnoy aid more in landing a better job? Some people are just too stupid for the real world. No company outside the financial sector or special fields give a shit about your degree. All that matters is your work experience, and your reference.
Why? Neither of them are big. Any retard can coach. My football team and soccer teams have never lost a game in years. You being a big guy absolutely has nothing to do with coaching and has everything to do with being good at strategy.
@@StoneyBaloney69youre joking right? Yes riding around in Segways with free food and interesting stuff happening daily while making twice what most places pay. But he yells occasionally when you dont do any work....yeah sounds horrible 😂
Reminds me of when I was going to a 1 year certification school for radio/TV broadcasting already employed by both Clear Channel and the ABC affiliate in town. When I had my "teachers" handing me their demo reels I knew I fucked up lol
IUPUI is one of the greatest things ever. You can go to a school for practically nothing, and you end up with a legit IU or Purdue diploma. If your major was business, you'd end up with a Kelley School diploma, one of the top business schools. If it was science/engineering you get a Purdue degree which is one of the top engineering schools. It cuts through all the BS and is exactly what should exist in America. If Dave had ripped this kid for paying $50k a year at Michigan I'd agree with him, but he's way off on this. People from all over the Midwest have used it to get a good education (and a good degree) for 1/10th the price of most state schools.
@@sethharris813A guy giving him a job vs a school that only pretends to? Seriously, his degree from hardly anyone outside Indiana knows is basically a waste of time.
The entire World needs to learn this reality... college has some benefits, but having years experience vs a degree... the experience wins everytime. 🏆️
As someone who went to work in finance instead of finishing my degree- I am well behind all of my friends who got their masters right after college. Go to school 😂
@@cvnavalew3 This sounds like an example of missing the benefits of college. However, how many of your years exp vs their schooling? Need to compare it as equally as possible. (so 4 years (or more if part time, but you also get more too) to get a masters, vs you starting your 5th year of that job)
Finance and accounting is definitely one where you want to go to school. Firms recruit from the colleges, and their internships are paid and will land you a guaranteed job after school (as long as you're not bad). So it's your way in to a good career. And if you're going for a CPA and other licensure there's a lot of material you will never learn at your job on the exams. So they require a ton of studying anyway for material covered in school. CPA also has a required educational component.
@@RG32822 Right Thank you, That is why I left room for the specifics occasions where it directly applies, like Doctors. I wasn't sure on the specifics of finance and such which is why in an earlier reply I was asking, but I would heavily advise aspiring students to read into if hiring is guaranteed or not along with if there are other options like a non-college school that is sole focus is just finance and accounting.
I don't get it. Everyone keeps saying college is useless unless you're a doctor, lawyer, engineer, accountant, or a few other things. Then they tell people to drop-out of school on a whim because they got lucky in their life. This is horrible advice. How about encouraging people to actually become doctors, lawyers, engineers, ect...This is what will ultimately bring them success and it's what other countries are doing. But in America people have this idea that they need to get paid for doing something they like. No, you will just end up getting paid for having no skill. This kid will be some low level flunky that probably will never see inside an office at Barstool. And for that he dropped out of a school which is actually a bargain institution (he could've gotten a degree from PURDUE for almost NOTHING). But yeah, let's just tell everyone they can be successful bloggers and influencers lol. How dare anyone say they might have to learn a craft that takes some effort. It's the White version of Black kids who think they can just rap or be in the NBA...Nah, bub. This won't end well for you.
I used to work for Krispy Kreme in the warehouse and had a young guy about 17-18 years old working with me a couple of days a week. I was present when one of the sites managers tried to press him to drop out of school to pick up more hours with us. It wasn't even like a passing question, he sat there for a good 5 mins trying to pressure this young dude into accepting a part time contract and ditching his 12th grade. If he was any more socially awkward or non confrontational he probably would have just said yes, so I find that tactic highly predatory, especially coming from a senior sites manager. That's real scumbag shit if you ask me.
Yeah... I mean that's patrionization in the worst way... My job made me drop out. . Twice... I'm 34 now. With nothing.. burned myself out in a restaurant for 10 years, and literally became a drug addict and disabled... All because my boss wanted me to work 50 hours a week for 7.25 an hour. . With child support at 19... My life could have been something special... Instead... I'm wishing I could ever amount to anything... It's a real shame. . And I'll never be the same.

You guys clearly never played sports or had a normal upbringing with older friends/brother(s). This is typical big brother treatment. These guys act like this 24/7 and it isn't an issue because they are around like minded individuals. This is essentially an unintended test to see if the kid can 'hang'. You always banter and chirp with each other in these environments, and the ability to take jabs and laugh at yourself is pretty much essential. Had the kid got all butt hurt/offended this interaction likely would have gone much differently.

He won a job in the field he was getting a degree in. He was basically being offered the chance to skip the degree and get a career without one. Dave portnoy is a POS but if dude wants the degree the best thing would be to take the full time job and do night classes or some shit, or even finish it later. Nasa would make you get that degree for a real job tho. Everybody in these comments dumb af. What happens in a few years when this kid hates his job, they hate him, get rid of him, he still likely has student loans to pay and no degree. Yal act like a college degree or supposed to make you an instant millionaire when in reality it just gets you access to more opportunities/jobs
Let's say for the sake of argument that this did happen and NASA asked you to drop out of college to work for them. Well I hope you like working at NASA because you're stuck there forever. You can't leave or upgrade because you don't have a degree. You are now stuck working for that one company until you retire and you better hope they stay happy with you because you're up shit creek if they let you go. Idk what happened here, but I can't imagine working for a dude with attitude like his is enjoyable. I hope this kid didn't drop out because if he won whatever competition got him that job offer, then he can probably get another offer somewhere else once his degree is done.
Difference is the aerospace engineering candidate probably DOES have the potential to never need his degree especially if he is at NASA for a few years where as this guy can easily end up in the service industry a few years down the line.

I get that college is a waste of money for the majority of what it offers, but if someone speaks to you like this "What are YOU going to get a degree in?!" it just speaks volumes for how little they ultimately believe in you.
If he didn't believe in him he would of just let him go back to school. He didn't, though he made him reevaluate his situation and gave him an opportunity of a lifetime. Everyone now a days is always hung up on their feelings. This is how most men talk to each other, BTW.
@bligotblam It actually matters a lot what your boss thinks about you. This can be your reality regardless of feelings because you don't bring emotions to business and work is business. If my boss doesn't want me going to school I'd rather it be because he doesn't want to lose me instead of it sounding like he doesn't think I'll even pass. Make sense?
