Magill was one of the presidents of three prestigious American universities who were subjected to severe criticism after their appearance - last Tuesday - before Congress in a hearing dedicated to examining anti-Semitism in universities. The statements of Magill, Harvard University President Claudine Guy, and MIT President Sally Kornbluth sparked angry criticism. 74 American legislators called for the dismissal of the three presidents, while the Democratic Governor of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, considered Magill’s performance “shameful.” A number of wealthy Americans have, or at least hinted at, stopping their donations to prestigious higher education institutions such as Harvard University in Massachusetts and the University of Pennsylvania. This is what Kennedy warned about America being under the control of a hidden government.

Well, the money is not coming from the Middle East. You can bet on that. Jewish donors, for decades, have been donating to Harvard and Columbia, disproportionately. The question is: What changed all of a sudden to suggest that these universities overnight became a safe haven for hate speech? And did they? Another way to contemplate this is to ask yourself “why would Fox News support a fiscally irresponsible administration who spent over 100 billion of US taxpayers’ money to fund a genocide, and vetoed a ceasefire resolution that the rest of the world supported? Condemning it might come with constructing the problem. If it's just students, they can construct the problem as largely external. But if the students' views were developed at harvard, MIT or as a downstream effect of leftist infiltration of education, then the students are manufactured. A failure to combat or lapse in standards is a more contained problem that having produced students who think genocidal war crimes are "resistance". Both universities and the government have to decide if the speech and conduct is within their bounds of acceptable. If it is, they don't have to do anything. If it isn't, then they acknowledge a problem that they would be obliged to try to solve. The motivation will be to quiet the noise and ideally tread the line between pleasing donors and not have their students throw a revolt.

While "hate speech" is not a legal term in the USA, the U.S. Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled that most of what would qualify as hate speech in other western countries is legally protected speech under the First Amendment. In a Supreme Court case on the issue, Matal v. Tam from 2017, the justices unanimously reaffirmed that there is effectively no "hate speech" exception to the free speech rights protected by the First Amendment and that the U.S. government may not discriminate against speech on the basis of the speaker's viewpoint. As a recent graduate of Harvard Extension School, I find this whole debacle to be nothing short of despicable. That these racist idiots rose up to become the presidents of some of America’s top universities does not bode well for us and it’s an embarrassment to the alumni of these schools, many if not most of whom do not share and are in full opposition of their ridiculous views on these matters.

@@DynamicSphinx Your shallow understanding of how HES works is commensurate with your delightfully crass attitude. Anyone is eligible to take classes within HES but there is a set of prerequisite classes and grades therein to gain admission to an HES degree program. As for the degree programs themselves, they’re nothing close to a cakewalk. Roughly half of the classes are regular to advanced Harvard University undergrad classes, taken alongside with the undergrad students. There are about a dozen courses required to get the degree and a very high minimum GPA requirement. There is also a 5-year time limit. Ultimately, somewhere between 2-5% of those who take courses at HES ever earn a degree from it. It is known to have a “reverse admission” process: easy to get into but very difficult to graduate from. I got an ALM in software engineering from there and it took every bit of my brainpower and willpower along with every moment of my free time for about 7 years (including prereqs and while working full-time) to get through it. I took the time to write this response just so that anyone else reading your idiotic response can get information from someone who has more than a sentence’s worth of it to offer.
