Lovely sounds. Very nostalgic and warm. This is a nice thing to hear when most of the demos out there just demonstrate the gnarly and aggressive saw sounds for electronic and modern productions.
What beautiful sounding instruments our Prophet '08s are! How can anybody not like these sounds… Very nice programming! I'm looking forward to seeing/hearing more from you ;)
I'm torn between this and the Prophet 6. I'm really trying to get that John Carpenter, Jay Chattaway sound and this sounds amazing but I'm hearing the 06 is more closer to the Prophet 5 (which Carpenter used) and it also has a step sequencer and is very simple to use but requires a lot more programming in terms of getting the right sound. It also doesn't split the Keyes like the 08. The 08 seems to have the classic sounds available via menu and is quite easy to call them up. Also I know neither of these can transpose a sequence on the fly like the Moog Sub 37 so that puts me off a bit too. Any suggestions?
EverettDudgeon138 From what I read, Prophet 6 is more about the sound and keeping the desing simple while 08 has little more stuff in it. For more oldschool analog poly sounds, prophet 6 does sound really nice. Prophet 08 requires more programming but it can really shine once you know how the synth works.
I'm new to synthesis. Does this do phat dirty thick sounds too or mostly pretty lush James Blake like stuff? I have an emu synth plugged into my Pacifica it sounds badass but the sounds are a little dated to me. I want phat thick lush I want it all. Does this synth have it? Is there a huge learning curve or is it fairly straight forward to pick up? Thanks
Prophet 08 is usually known for brash, metallic sound quality. There are lots of demos on youtube about Prophet 08, you should listen some of those too and then decide. 08 is not too hard to learn and there are few factory presets to start with.
@@JustSomeRandomThing I know this is 4 years old, (and you probably figured this out by now), maybe demonstrate the absolute versatility of a machine, instead of just one sound. However, if you'd of said in the video description "chill, mellow sounds of the Prophet 08" it'd be exactly what this video is, and those who are looking to hear every aspect of it's character wouldn't feel disappointed, because they'd know what they're getting into: from the get-go. I however, have no complaints whatsoever about this video. You did a great job, but I can see how other people may feel they "didn't get their money's worth" on it, due to lack of other sound types. Yet, at the same time, what you demonstrated (softness) couldn't have been done better. You did a great job 👏
I love it, but it's not the best choice for modern trance music, is it? Maybe something like the Access Virus would be more suitable for that? The leads sounds really beautiful on the Prophet 08 though. And it has some really fat sounding SAW basses.
Although the Prophet 08 is not really tied up to any particular genre, Access Virus is more known for trance type of music and is has much more functions.
I had a P08 module. Sold it for financial reasons. Then I bought a Vermona Perfourmer Mk II! Now I'm going to sell that, (I need memory), and go for a P08 or 6 module. Perhaps the keyboard version is easier to program than the P08 module? Although most controls are available... Hmmmm 🐵
The synth has a gated sequencer (requires key being pressed). It can be activated by pressing "gated sequencer" button and can be edited by pressing "edit sequencer". When the edit sequencer is on, the pots marked 1-16 can be used to adjust the sequencer.
I have had mine a few months now Looks beautiful and sounds amazing i have had synths since 1977 but this synth is different i seem to be picking up external voices through my speakers i am running it through my mixer the leads are fine its not interference my other keyboards aren't doing it its quite spooky sometimes love it Though any tips
