are you expecting fashiola a lawyer to do better ? simply put give ministerial position according to people competence and background - soon you get bricklayer as medical doctor operating Tinubu
This man is the best among all the minister of works will have ever had in Nigeria... Construction is Dave umahi filed of work, and he single handedly supervises and monitor the project it self. .
AN OPEN LETTER to WORKS Minister ENGINEER DAVE UMAHI Please do not Forget OWERRI--ABA EXPRESS ROAD. Motorist are driving opposite direction thereby causing unimaginable accidents. And most times Pedestrians are killed. The road as well leads to Sam Onunaka Mbakwe Airport. It is necessary to give this road an urgent attention.
This is why it is important to have " the right person for the right position" Dave is an Engineer, and understands what is going on, and will definitely ask the right questions, this should be the first criteria, before considering that he is " human"! This is contrary to making Fashola the minister of power and works, to "learn on the job". I hope everyone is taking notes!!!
I always wondered why they don't mix them. The University students need to get involved on doing training for quick expansion...books alone can't change the nation. Stop the japa syndrome. ❤
Who told you that university engineering students don't participate? Every student are sent for practice just as Ghanaian students are sent to Nigeria to practice. There are many Ghanaians and some other countries doing their practice in Lagos.
Does it mean they don’t learn anything or think out things in their brains to start building massive infrastructures in Nigeria so it can be like other developed countries
Nigeria should open in all its universities , engineering departments, that specialize on infrastructural development with workings with each States ministry of works and maitenance. All big Foreign Contracts, be it in building of bridges, steel mills contruction, refineries, or any heavy infrastructure should include training and maintenance in the Contract. The contractors should work with a devision of the ministry of works in the State they are operating , for regular inspections during the work period of the Contract. The Ministry Should also work with University or trade schools in the Area for Credit earning training towards graduation. Right now Nigeria is not gaining nothing from these huge money contracts awarded to these foreign companies.
This minister is effective and efficient, this is a true round peg in the round hole, such ministerial matching makes the works easier and devoid of conflicting outcome. Kudos to DAVE the Engineer
All these instructions by the Hon, Minister should all be included in the Contract with these companies which also comes with regular inspections. If the contractors did not meet the qualities of work or time of completion, there will be penalties. If the job is finish before time and the quality meets standard there should be a contract bonus. Thats how is done here the US or most developed Countries.
He's very knowledgeable and hard working, but with all due respect, where are the geotechnical reports, specifications, and detail drawings that suggested types of soil his directing to be use. Project and construction management 101, you can't direct contractor's work, means and methods, sequence of work, materials, etc, provided it's has been stated in the contract documents stated above. Also, who is the PM/CM Consultant for this project? and I don't see any young Nigerians on the field learning from this job/projects, so they can be well knowledgeable like him someday to build the nation. He's always in the entourage of big pot belly men not in appropriate PPE, like himself for site visits. Africans/Nigerians should learn to lead by example.
Dave Umahi, you are a shinning light to other Ministers. Strictly professional, and quite effectively running the ministry. Not like one minister in my mind that is deep neck in politics of political structure, and playing "notice me"
Young Engineers should attach themselves to this private companies to gain experience. For efficiency sake FG cannot give out contract to people who just left school or new to the business.
A man that knows his job, Engr Dave Umahi . Square peg in a square hole. Your job suits you, well, Sir. God be with you as you serve . Other ministers should learn
I don't know why people are still crying and wailing for unemployment and lack of jobs to do in Nigeria with all the construction works going on in the country. Nigerians don't want to soil their hands and their pants by working at these sites. Instead, they prefer to spend their productive lives at the church/mosque, mama put/beer parlor, and on phones. Nonsense 🙈
Wetin dis one dey yarn? Are everyone engineers? What you have said is so incredibly devoid of mental reasoning... it's actually shocking.... that's like you saying there's so many people who need fast internet in Nigeria, why don't people create internet instead of staying in churches and beer parlours. ARE THEY TRAINED FOR THE JOB? Most people can't afford to live on a daily basis but do you know how expensive school and vocational institutes are for the average person (people living on 40-50k per month)? What about tailors and bakers, they should go and work on that road Abi? If you are not trained for something, then you simply cannot do it now
Please sir! Let the part of these jobs that can be done by Nigerian Engineering be awarded to Nigerians with serious monitoring and Penalties. So that Local Content can be enhanced, and Nigerian Firms and People can be empowered. These show that there is HOPE and Nigeria will be great again. God Bless Nigeria, God Bless Tinubu, God bless Umahi, and other performing Ministers IJN. Happy Easter.
There's no road constructed that can last a hundred years, any good contractors know the longevity of the road constructed, and anything under should be there issue. Anyways, it takes three levels of construction to determine any good road. Hard shoulder is equally very important and drainage, hard shoulder enables easy flow of traffic in terms of breakdown and can easily be used, during reconstruction of roads. Unlike the wan mumu soludo dey do 😂😂
This guy seems very knowledgeable on how to properly exicute and manage such projects. Perhaps he should begin to encourage his government to begin giving these projects to local construction companies who will actually listen to him instead of arrogant foreign ones who come and however the hell they want to.
All these quack contractors have been enjoying their Alafia since, but now a seasoned professional engineer is the minister for works. They will have to vomit all they have been enjoying freely for many years.
Based on the minister talking about petrochemical company, refinery and sea port. I believe it is the road that begin from oil mill market junction on Aba road through Eleme to Onne and going towards Ogoni.
For the frustrated ignorant Bigots please compare fashola or Amechi as same minister, I was expecting fashola as a lawyer to have rejected that portfolio rather he started gallavanting up and down , see Dave as an expert in his field and then imagine him as the Attorney General of the federation .minister you are honorable
Fashola though a lawyer did his best and did well. A star boy in the last administration. Listen, I don’t need to be an engineer to commission or supervise a road project, all I need is a professional working with me in my office. Pls stop this useless comparison!
Corrupt professionals presenting a corrupt professional report to a blind minister who has no clue is nothing but gabbage in gabbage out. If you know you know and you know only when you are a round peg in a round hole.
@@apostlekofipaul3258 The late king of Afro beat was very philosophical in his song suwegbe and Paco 🎵 🎶 your mentality just explained that song into details , someone like you will also not need to be a doctor to become a chief medical director of a teaching hospital .
Dave why don't you hit the gym , that shirt on you is a lovely one however the Tommy is hiding the beauty , you can do better I swear , meanwhile u ve got a good job out here !
Every year thousands of Nigerian students graduated from engineers and electrical still they can't make ordinary roads or put streets light, my question is why should Chinese and arabs construct road for us 😡
If they can't do it then they are subpar and have no experience while German or Chinese construction companies have infinitely more experience, that's the fault of the educational system honestly
Mr. Minister Can you stop saying please to them!! They are working for you. It is a job, it is not free!! You are paying them. And they must do the job in the quality that agrees on both sides.. Can we use the British or American for once and give Nigerians good roads?
This is where Nigeria are back ward in infrastructure, there's is service lane,no proper technical engineer, and this contractor is not qualified ,Nigeria must come to south Africa for a good road construction
The problem of this country called Nigeria when time of election reach their we remember you from south east, now their we not remember is from south east or when is time for election their forget south east, but time for protest their remember south east.
...at all. The man means business and he's not smiling. I like him apart from being knowledgeable and an expert he still gives kudos where necessary . Nice one.
I no understand you abeg you see bread you dey find fish when the spoil road them no do the road you dey complain now them done dey do the road and still dey complain they find who qualified or who no qualified
@@aigbokhaisixtus9187 Hahaha 😂 bros that’s why I’m saying that we should go for the best construction company. Because nobody knows when this type of opportunity will come again. Julius Berger, PW , and Nigercats. Any construction company is new in Nigeria.
@@fatfarmers7360 I don’t know actually what I said against you that you are worried about. It shall be unto you according to the word of your mouth. The bible says, whoever digs a pit shall fall therein. The bible says, their violent dealings shall come upon their own head.
@@sholy4ubut the same tribe is giving you people quality roads, why not reject him and replace him with aboki, Or have you forgotten that Dave umahi is an Igbo man/Biafra?
@@apostlekofipaul3258 Dave Umahi did awesome construction work as governor and he has brought that professionalism to the federal level. There's no other Igbo man in this APC government that Igbos are hailing.
How Fashola a lawyer was allowed to mess up the position of minister of works for 8 solid years all n the name of politics is beyond me. Nigerians should have been on the streets protesting. It will take 16 years of Dave Umahi as minister of works to correct all the catastrophe of Fashola's time in office.
