Hi Don, good reaction/rating to a very good song. David was originally in a band called Uncle Walts' Band w/Walter Hyatt. I agree with other comments that you really must react to "Riding with Private Malone," a spectacular story song with a chilling ending.

David is from Spartanburg South Carolina. The son of a Baptist preacher. He co wrote this song. He's another artist who doesn't get near the recognition he deserves. I like his phrasing in this song. Private Malone would be a great song to react to

What I really like about David Ball is he never went pop-country. Pretty much all of his songs are hardcore honky-tonk.

One of my faves from the 90s. Great bar song......everyone always yelled out "yes I admit, I've got a thinkin problem"...... David opened the concert I saw by walking on stage, . Just standing there rubbing his throat till it got quiet..... Then he says, quietly and horsely......got something in my throat. He try to clear his throat a couple times...............then belts out that opening line. What a fun time.....good entertainer and singer. The song itself is an allusion to or an inference that its about drinkin. Fill the glass to the top??...... but it's all memories..... I think somebody has commented about this song if not actually requesting it but I'm not sure.

Got to interview David Ball for the local newspaper when he played a show here a few years ago. Talked to him on the phone for maybe 30 minutes or so to do a story promoting the show and his album at the time. Didn't feel like an interview, but just a natural conversation with a guy who loves old school country music and is still out on the road enjoying what he does. All in all great down to earth guy who makes some good old school music.

This is the first country song and the first English song I heard growing up in a Mexican household and I love it! its definitely one of my top favorite country songs ever thank you for reacting to it, I do not think anyone has yet.

Yes it was just a play on words and a great song using a few drinking tips to apply to a thinking problem. Intoxicated by love and many other phrases come to mind that overlap with that situation with alcohol to kill our pain or melt our mind

I've been a fan of David Ball for years, and have the album by the same name. He also has a cute one on this called, "Look What Followed Me Home," which you think might be a cute puppy, but I think it was a girl. I believe he is from NC. He always reminded me of George Strait in looks and the way he dressed. Great rating for this.

David i a modern day Honky Tonker he does do some of the more classic Honky Tonk songs but considering he is one of the few that are putting out genuine real country and as a bonus he writes some of his music himself. Some of his music has been mention by others already so I'll add "Honky Tonk Healing" to the suggestions for a follow up song.

The fact that the intro you did means you won't be doing "Private Malone" for at least 2 months. It is one of the greats.
