About double facers: make them by splitting cards or buy Bicycle double face deck (€5,95). You only need to change the real cards in the trick since ace/joker is probably not in.
Start with Double facers in pocket - Opener 1:41 Phase ONE starts at 2:11 2) The opener 1:50 3) Normal card on right, Double facer in the middle, grap 2 flip around and do the monte move, (flip the single card first to make it more convincing). Place ungimmicked card on top. Repeat monte move on top two cards. Second phase Same Phase 2 starts at 4:11 Phase 3 starts at 5:55
That means you aren't very good at showmanship and patter; the trick isn't complicated in terms of mechanics but it's all about selling it, which you seemingly couldn't.
Yes. That's the part that is bothering me the most. Why after turning over two face up cards, one of them is face down... I've been called up on that one few times (something like 1 out of 20 ish) Even though I do that effect effortlessly. Apart from that this is one of my favourite things to do, it's just blows people's minds 😂♥️ btw great tutorial with good tips
i dont get it.. it is a really well thought trick but i've always notice that first twist of cards where it isn't normal to turn 2 cards over and 1 still be facing up.. it is a part of the routine where even though I dont know how to do it, i know it's not normal.
This tutorial like many others for this are total garbage. They do not show crucial things required, and each part and section is interrupted with totally useless and unnecessary talking.
This was doing my head in too, but when you see Garrett Thomas do it, and when he talks about it, you don’t actually notice it for some reason. Garrett actually says that it’s almost part of creating a confusion when seeing it, like cognitive dissonance. Having practiced it myself now from watching the proper video (Garrett Thomas), the mind just passes it over because the mind is still looking for the same numbers and it feels satisfied. The story and quick talking and flipping of the cards are all part of that. I searched for an explanation to your question too so thought I’d write it hear, 9 years after you asked!
I have a question, If I buy a double face deck, would i get 2 of the same double face ? I mean, if I buy it would i get 2 double face queen/three for example? or do i have to buy 2 decks to get 2 of the same cards. Pls i need an answer for this because it's pretty expensive here cuz I gotta order online so relying on chance is not an option.
You know, I was thinking, at the end when you have 3 aces, you could pull a joker out of your right pocket and palm it against the 3 aces. while the 3 aces are concealed to could flip them over to get jokers. After that you could do an elmsey count and then show that there is actually a face down ace
What do you do if the spectator asks you to let them examine the cards? When I tell people that they can't see the cards they figure out that the cards are somehow rigged.
The card show at 2:26 will ruin the trick, when you show 2 cards face up and then turn your hand , then one card is face up and other is face down..How its possible..I got caught at this step
What I do is I put the real joker back facing me. I tell spectator what card they think it is and then they're like, it's the joker. I tell them are you sure and they get nervous/confused thinking did I switch them with they knowing. Once I flip it. They see it's the joker and then they feel relieved. I then leave the real joker back still face up and then once they feel relieved, I tell them "but if I want, with one snap, I could make the joker into an A" so I snap my fingers across the cards and quickly turn them over doing the Monte move and then they won't be able to catch it.
Just make them I made some today just put a bit of glue on the back and stick them together plus don't be paranoid of doing that because the spectator never holds a double facer, there on your control the whole time!:)
Everyone I've ever performed this too notices the move at 2:15, no matter how much I talk and try to convince they all go "Wait a sec, that cards was just turned over?" Am I missing something to hide that or what? :S
Seriously, this trick makes NO sense. Can someone explain to me how the audience is going to not notice the performer flipping over the cards in the very first move/phase "to show the backs" and the double-sided card doesn't "flip" over (because it's double-sided). It's glaringly obvious! So someone explain the point of the move and how it's supposed to "prove" anything to the spectators. All it seems to do is give the trick/gimmick away and ruin the whole thing from the very beginning. Am i missing something here or what??
***** yup.. its more about misdirection... no one actually expect u to have 2 faced card.. also if u keep ur moves right...than its not much of a problem..... u dont suspect anything when david.blaine does this.. he uses his words to misdirect and his skills.... i perform 2 cards monte .. and if u know the 2nd switch can be seen clearly by anyone.. easily!!.. but u misdirect people not to look at your hands while u perform the switch.....

I see. the "monte move"? What I don't get in this tutorial, is he is constantly showing the backs of the cards, giving away that one is double-faced!!! How do you avoid that?
Blaine avoids it once, only in the beginning, by rolling over the double facer to the middle and then back to the first position. So, now the real joker is in the middle and he turns it over with the double facer to show that the 'new 3rd card' also has a back. This happens really fast, the person in my youtube link shows it. And yes, the monte move is not 100% convincing. But its about the storytelling. You say that you move over only 1 card. People shouldn't even think about how you did that, cause it is as smooth as Hansen says. Continue your story to distract attention.
Sorry, but there is a problem with your version of this routine: at 2:14 you take TWO FACE-UP cards in your right hand, and just turn your hand over, showing ONE FACE-UP and one face-down card. That is not logical. It is an error. You did nothing to make it look like you were going to flip over just one card. Anyone with half a brain could easily see something was wrong with that. Other versions of this trick do not make that move.
This tutorial is impossible to follow because you keep interrupting the sequence with more useless talking. You have also left out crucial turn over moves and only did turn overs that make no sense You need to remake this tutorial with nothing but the exact moves, and show the position each card is supposed to be in after you do each move. and you also need to add in crucial turnover moves that are required for this.
@@hansenlau It doesn't matter how many people got it, this tutorial is impossible to follow for the reasons I said above. As far as the offer for the explanation. Thanks I appreciate it but I'm good.
