Ah-ah-ah

In the villa of Ormen, in the villa of Ormen
Stands a solitary candle, ah-ah, ah-ah
At the centre of it all, at the centre of it all
Your eyes, your eyes
Ah-ah-ah

Man knew he was dying but instead of being afraid looked death in the eye and used him as inspiration for his final masterpiece. Absolute respect to this legend. What a noble way to go out. May he rest in piece

DiX Inc. right? I think Bowie showed us that there is nothing to fear in death. As Mark Twain said “ I had been dead for billions and billions of years before i was born and do not recall suffering the slightest inconvenience from it”. Perhaps the Starman has begun a new journey in a new universe?

skilled person I believe she (and all who respect and cherish David's art and music) is referring to his entire body of work. Why must she "explain" this video or its meaning(s)? Are you frightened or somehow wounded by this video/music? Search inside your own heart and soul for serenity, tranquility, peace, grace, love, happiness, contentment, etc... It kind of sounds as though you're attempting to pin something sinister or negative to this video/music...
@tooniemama6959
@tooniemama6959 7 лет назад
I honestly can not explain the lyrics or video. I don't believe anyone can, for that matter. Bowie's music was a journey, not a destination. His music and art gave us something to think about. I think it was his goal to let us interpret and take away from his music that had the most meaning to each of us. I believe his last album, "Blackstar" was a very personal journey for him. I think he achieved all that he wanted to, and a lot of critics are saying his last album was his greatest masterpiece.

Today, me, my dad and my younger brother went to the veterinary clinic to put the cat to sleep, because he felt bad, something with kidneys and some tumor, he was 18 years old, operations would only hurt him, because they are serious, and the chance that he would survive would be minimal, operations are expensive and there was no hope, a lot of money would have been spent and not the fact that he would have survived, and if he would He would have lived with a month and that's it, it was not worth it, so it was decided to put him to sleep, my father and I cried, hard, the cat went bad, faded for a couple of days, we said goodbye to him and went home. The cat has lived with me my whole life, I turn 16 tomorrow, have pictures and videos from my childhood with him. He was like a big brother to me. 📣 Diana, Princess of Wales, is alive! Yes, and it’s time the world begins to awaken to this Truth and so much more. Not only is our beloved Princess still with us, but so is John F. Kennedy, Jr., Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, and Lauren Bessette. There’s also a long list of celebrities and entrepreneurs including David Bowie, Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, Robin Williams, Steve Jobs, and Whitney Houston. So, how does one account for something as unbelievable as this? Well, each person named above, and those whose names haven’t been revealed yet, have their own story, and soon you’ll be learning about it. However, in the meantime, here’s the short version. Each one of these people, at one point, entered into a worldwide witness protection program. Wondering what these individuals needed protection from? It’s something the likes of which the average man or woman has never been confronted with. Although it may sound funny, each one of us will eventually have a role in the “Big Picture,” too. What is it? We need to respectfully listen to their stories and begin to understand the “as yet, unrecognized threat” that humanity has been living amongst. Bottom line is that we must give these brave people an opportunity to tell their stories and face head-on the Truths that we’ll be given in order to protect our families and ourselves now and forever more. Best way for us to complete our responsibility is to have unwavering faith in our Creator, God Eternal. He was always unrestricted, always one step ahead of the rest, always daring to step into unknown territory and shattering preconceived notions. A true innovator that shaped music in ways many people take for granted. His album "Outside" which a lot of people overlook due to it being released in 1995 (he was planning on revisiting it, actually) is a perfect example. I've been a Bowie fan long before the news of his death, but I still keep discovering gems, another one being "Earthling". Just as he has no two albums sounding the same, he also has no peers. He immortalised his life into his art and decided that was to be his parting gift to us. I have nothing but deep admiration for the man.

There is lot to it. This song can be intepreted in many ways, though I think the ultimate message was a huge criticism of things we believe in. You need to know history of religion and ideologies well to see the references in it, same as in many other songs. Some say that China Girl was just a commercial pop songs, but for a person who knows the political history of China, it is obvious the song and the video were representing what has been happening in China since the beginnings of the XIXth century, up to the 80ies.
@finnibertlunchiken7792
@finnibertlunchiken7792 4 года назад
@@SparrowNoblePoland It's true however 'China Girl' was written by Iggy Pop. I think it was more of a casual observation he was making on culture, so it is still there. How deep the message in songs go is often granted a lesser AND a greater meaning by the audience and whether the artist is being literal in their message or not. Art is a mirror full of symbolism. Some artists are seen as much smarter and deeper than they are just by making reference. That's part of the charm. They cause people to think, sometimes way more than the artist actually has. Bowie considered himself a Gnostic Christian. More of a mystical rudimentary form, not adhering to the doctrines of organized religion. I'd say he was a believer but just as much a Buddhist, occultist or even pagan. He has said that he had no interest in knocking anyone's religion and found them fascinating. Bowie was an observer not a critic with harsh opinions. That's what made him interesting. You do stuff like observe honestly and people will have you lynched for it. Artists with strong gripes aren't for me, neither are pretentious and dishonest ones.

You should check out the song by GnR called Catcher in the Rye.... the demo version. I think it was a very underrated song. The demo is way better than the album version. I think it was the best song on Chinese Democracy. The overall album was decent but way overproduced. If they released in 1999 like they were supposed to it would have been a bigger hit. A lot of the songs have potential. I'm guessing a few might be reproduced by artists in the future with a better updated sound. Seems like Axel had to throw in a few too many excessive 80's guitar riffs where they weren't needed.

Did you also not know that David Bowie was a pedophile? He admitted this in 1977.. in fact, in the late 80's film, "The Labyrinth" he agreed to the film, because of the plot... a middle aged man, sneaking into a family's home, and kidnapping an infant.. then falling in love with a 14 year old girl. He was a sex offender, and you're all glorifying him. OH you're just a fan of his music... Well, do you use the same argument for Ted Bundy and his great skills as a lawyer? Or how about John Wayne Gacy, and his great skills as a clown? ... Or how about OJ Simpson, and his great skills as a football player? Or how about Manson, and his skills as an artist and musician? ... You don't lust after them, the way you lust after Bowie... he was just as evil as them... Yet here you are, endorsing rape.

She also is with me daily. This album is remarkable. When you're 60 like me, death is more and more a reality. As contemporaries, like Bowie, pass and mortality is winding closer! Bowie gives death so much vibrancy! What a man!! Blackstar. His final persona. His music will be played in 400 years, like Baroque music today. Maybe 2,000 years like Tibetan Buddhist chanting. Bowie was informed by Tibetan Buddhism - it's crazy insight and deep consciousness. His was a spiritual life, he shared. Om Mane Padme Hum.

It is based on old Popeye cartoons. Very innocent, actually, not creepy. Here is a simple explanation from www.billboard.com/articles/news/6770048/david-bowie-blackstar-video-debut-popeye: Not unlike that clip, dance plays a role in this film, too, but more in the Pina Bausch choreography sense. At various points in the film, non-Bowie people compulsively shudder, their shoulders bobbing up and down like they're enduring a mild shock. During the Q&A, Renck revealed the unexpected inspiration for that motion: Classic Popeye cartoons. Renck says Bowie was fascinated by the way background characters in the Max Fleischer 'toons from the 1930s moved. Since animators were focused on the foreground action but didn't want to leave the rest of the frame static, periphery characters would often repeat the same three-second motions for, say, 30 seconds of a cartoon frame. So Bowie suggested to Renck that the extras in his video do the same.

Me and my best friend we tripping really hard on LSD years ago In his room. We had RU-vid playlist playing funky 70’s-80’s music and when the playlist ended it started playing suggestions. This song was then uploaded to RU-vid and we began listening to it within minutes of it being on RU-vid. The vibe we got when it came On threw us into a whirlwind of mental energy. Very disoriented and an overwhelming pressure of secrecy we listened in silence. By the time it ended we were completely frozen. After the trip ended we found the song and realized it was released because David had passed and this was a going away song. Very interesting experience thought I would share.

To me Bowie is the closest that rock/pop has gotten to a Miles Davis or a Picasso, where the artist keeps changing forms, twisting into startling new shapes. "He who is not busy being born, is busy dying" - Bob Dylan

This song starts very eerie and ominous... Then becomes a beautiful ballad... Then goes back to being eerie and ominous. It's like a musical final breath.

No song has ever almost scared/frightened me as this does. To be able to do that with lyrics and a video just shows the genius of the man. One of the greatest Englishman ever.

Without a doubt one of the creative geniuses to come from England. In 50 years people will think of him in the likes of Shakespeare and George Orwell.

Blackstar really hit me differently than any other album I've ever heard. It represents the life's work of a musician and artist who mastered his craft. He took so many daring leaps throughout his life that he eventually became brave enough to turn his own death into one final piece of art. I really don't think we'll ever see the likes of David Bowie or a work like Blackstar again in our lifetime.
