Yes you hit it head on, ive basically watched these my whole life even as a kid (my grandpa & uncle had tons of vhs recordings) so it just brings me back to simpler times.,..
And what is your choice of therapy? In my land we often use Pinoqachole- it distilled from the fruit of the Upanishad tree each fall, when the over-ripe rotting fruit drops to the ground, and we must fight the angry drunken water-buffaloes so we can collect it to make our sacred Pinoqachole- a nectar fit for the Gods! I suppose YOU pay a Psycho The rapist for his services. Ican see: You are still not well!
I LOVE what Bowie said about loving somebody and being in love. He's such a good-looking, intelligent, nice, charming man. I can never get bored of David Bowie.
The irony that both of these beautiful people David Bowie and Natalie Cole would pass away within two weeks from each other Natalie Cole would pass away December 31 2015 and David Bowie would pass away January 10th 2016 two beautiful souls
“Has it ever struck you that life is all memory, except for the one present moment that goes by you so quick you hardly catch it going?”― Tennessee Williams.
I remember when I was about 10 years old being home from grade school sick 🤢🤧🤒 and watching this with my mom and being mesmerized by David Bowie and seeing Henry Winkler "The Fonz" and going "WOW" Ziggy Stardust and Fonzie in the same room together Dinah Shore was Cool 😎😊❤
@@michaelbarnhart2593 Not exactly.. David Jones was a real person, David Bowie was a character of many faces. I shall be forever infatuated with him. His light continues to emit.
Bowie was a very thoughtful man. He did everything to stay humble & not let fame ruin himself as a curious human being seeking a simply fulfilling human life. Im glad he later truly found a love in his 2nd wife, Iman, that he could liken to being in love. I think around this time he was really starting to develop a thing for "sistas" lol. He also dated Slash's(from Guns n Roses) mom. Most dont know that Slash is half black. His personal life is just as interesting as his acts but w/o the flashiness.
I came here cause I have been reflecting on Bowie and also his wife, Iman. And remembered this interview! Too funny! Slashes Mom huh?! Always learning more about him! You can add Tina Turner,Ava Cherry,Catherine Denuve,Geeling Ng (China Girl video) I could go on! And on! And on!!! He got around the world thats for sure!! Then someone arranged Iman and David to meet. And his definition of love became more tangible for him! Even said they became the most solid relationships amongst the 'famous people'. Cause it was real! Beautiful daughter. Just before he died she said "Sometimes you will never know the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory". That to me really resonates volumes of what its all about! Rest in peace David! ✌🌠
“That he could liken to being in love.” David and Iman were husband and wife, soulmates, and have a daughter, Lexi Jones. Iman still considers herself married to David, four years after his passing. It would be good if you could eradicate the “interesting “ and the “into sistas” eyebrow wiggle out of your narrative. It’s 2020. Respect.
@@manxuberglider8 Who are you to demand he "eradicate" certain parts of his comment. He can say what he wants. You don't have to read if it's not to your taste.
Iman herself has said they would have never gotten together had they met earlier in life. It’s okay for a person to have lived before, no need to apologize.
David was and still is the greatest allround artist that ever lived, so many styles ,so many characters, such special music and his acting and mime was spectacular.
Oh, Lord, David's high but holding it together pretty damn well. Either Dinah's totally oblivious to David's state, or she's just the consumate pro. Great upload, nonetheless.
I was so put off by David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust days, that I missed out on what an incredible artist and person he was. Only now discovering and catching up. Gone too soon 😢
Bowie was in a dark place in '76. Fantasizing about Nazism, demonic entities and possession, spending most days away from light. Miraculous he made it thru just to be with Iggy in Berlin later that year.
Add Sting to that list too. And if we must talk truly talented singers you can't possibly leave out Luther Vandross, a singer who backed Bowie during the Young Americans era.
Kids - sorry, none of those you mention are "great singers" - great "performers", yes - great "singers", no. Barbra Streisand, Karen Carpenter, Tim Buckley, Garnet Mimms, Maria Callas are streets ahead of Freddie, David, Jackson and Sting in vocal ability.
Too bad we did not get to see that clip from “The Man Who Fell to Earth”. It’s such a great film! David Bowie is so intelligent. Just love and miss him.
This is such a wonderful snapshot in time. I greatly admire all of these people and it's very humanising to see them interact and sort of compete for attention in a really relatable way.
The format for this talk show is very strange, but I guess that was normal for the 70s. It does seem a bit awkward for the guest since she seems to be talking to everyone except the person that the focus is on.
At the time, the other people were better known and more popular in the USA! Bowie was an exotic guest that Dinah was taking a chance having on. It's hard to believe now.
I must say, this would have been SO much better if it was simply Dinah and David. The other two annoy me. Fonz was never cool. "Arrested Development" was perfect for him, though.
I keep feeling that there must have been a time when David Bowie looked into a three-way mirror and saw how many David Bowies there could be. He's only just begun.
Loved his reference to Bryan Ferry & Roxy Music as 'influencers'. And of course I couldn't agree more with the fact Roxy Music was so NEW in those mid to later 1970s. There was NOTHING around like Roxy Music then make no error. They never plagiarized any artist. They created such new music it could have been considered a whole new genre of music. But this vid is about David Bowie and he would eventually become a musical genius - that's how great he became.
I wondered that to. His heart was broken. As well I think he's talking about Angie. In love with Hermione. Loving Angie but was tumultuous. In the future Iman came into his life and both fulfilled. 🙌 🕊⚘
Too funny...love it when he moves to 'his groin'!!!😂🤣 The way he reacts and if you knew about Bowie...he was gifted in more than his talent and character!!!!!😛 Love it!
Wow, what a find. I was trying to find a Dinah! episode that a late friend of mine was on, but instead came across a surreal moment of the Fonz and '70s Bowie complimenting each other.
Mildred in 'MacMillan and Wife.' Fab show. She too ruled 70's telly - was on all three networks! Mrs Morganstern on CBS, Mildred on NBC and Balansky's Beauties on ABC. She pulled it all off too - talented woman.
Interesting to watch the mixture of such diverse celebrities like this; it appeared very casual and not so scripted and forced; like listening to four friends over lunch.
Yup! They were pretty much f***ing during this time, and I think that’s really why Angie did not join him.. Notice how close Candy got to him while Natalie was around. 😁
Henry Winkler was still producing content millions of people watched(Barry), until just a few years ago, and sadly is one of the few people on this show who's even still alive. Dinah Shore is one of the most underrated in broadcast skill and to boot most adorable women to ever appear on legacy mass media. Do we even need to discuss how great Bowie is? Didn't think so. Chef's kiss to the uploader. You should have 20 factor more subs than you do.
I can tell that Henry Winkler and David."Fonzerelly" are being very reserved towards all here" also like his attitude and take on things...so glad this was available to RU-vid..TY.
@Mike Schwinn I like Station and Low the best, saw Tin Machine, he was contracted to write and produce an Elvis album with a remake of Golden Years but Elvis died, true story., Cheers
I saw Bowie at earls court not sure when it was I think it was around this time . The 70,s were a blur the 80,s oblivion the 90,s started climbing out the pit the 2000s slipped back into the hole at the beginning then started to crawl out about mid way now it's 2022 David is dead and I am close to my own grave . Life is hard and harsh and unforgiving often but as Churchill once said life is worth living " once" . I understand that I am not sure I would like to do this again. Don't think Bowie believed in God in the biblical sense even though he quoted the lord's prayer at Freddie mercuries benefit concert. Life is about truth and lies and good and evil and we each are born with the ability to make those choices.
He interviewed with women more politely than with men I noticed. I never saw this before, really interesting group of guests and their interaction with each other too.
@rhythmicon I think despite his rockstar persona, Bowie was an old fashioned gentleman who felt protective towards women. Dinah Shore is also so very respectful and kind. She probably put him at ease. I imagine most people probably loved Dinah Shore when they met her.
Just read in Johnny Marr’s autobiography “Set The Boy Free” that Ian Curtis got his dance moves from Bowie’s performance in this show, I kind of see it.
