Seeing how HAPPY Bowie was after he got clean, found love, had Lexi, and continued making his creative art and changing over time... It really shows anyone in the depths of addiction what's possible on the other side. You can still be creative. You can still be happy. You will have an interesting life. Everything will be better. I'm SO happy Bowie got clean and didn't die aged 30 like so many rockers did.
I really enjoy his interviews. He brought around a lot of change, always pointing out the elephant in the room and tossing pebbles in the pond. The ripples have reached us all. I love him, and attribute a lot of the inspiration for my art from those ripples.
It's interesting how at first he really seemed to hate being interviewed and he was defensive (sometimes rightfully so) and awkward but as he get's older he got much more comfortable. It's as though he stopped taking everything so seriously and just relaxed at went with the flow. I love him so much RIP xoxo.
indeed Keilah, and it doesn't help that some of the interviewers and their insufficient incompetent questions didn't measure up to the wealth of pearls he would've shared had the prompts and interviewers been on the same frequency *ugh RIP indeed and he's so missed!
Annnnnnnnd cocaine may have had something to do with his discomforts too haha! He talks about it even candidly in 1:52:54...It's amazing that some of these artists today can say or do something to ruin them completely and he does it and says it and can talk candidly about it all years later as just "a difficult time" but not allow it to completely ruin him. He really did love what he did and was exceptional at it.
Keilah Machelle I noticed that too. I’ve seen, so far collectively, more of his later interviews so it’s weird to me, watching his older interviews. Despite the confidence he exudes wearing and performing in all of his costumes and personas, he seems uncomfortable in his own skin earlier on during interviews. Some of the time though, and I don’t mean it irreverently, but simply conjecture, I wonder if maybe that was also because of the drugs, and if he was actually high during some of his interviews.
It was due to the massive amount of cocaine he was ingesting that made him twitch and seem so awkward. He was geeking so hard it's disturbing to watch at times. I'm so happy that he was able to get off that shit.
I think the same thing; his confidence, self acceptance, not taking life or himself so seriously and his own observations/opinions are HIS vs 'what others shld believe'. But, that's evidently WHAT he was seeking...finding...answers that brought him peace. I'm very Glad for him that he did! The age he was when his daughter was born AND becoming a parent, I think both of those helped him w/arriving at his...content, satisfied disposition. He changed QUITE A BIT from his fame beginnings to adulthood. I understand how he wished he'd 'found his peace' sooner! Bless his heart; a very Kind soul.
I was watching an old totps and bowie was on and I cried again, does that make me daft? I just feel like he's left a big empty space and there's nothing on earth that can fill it, he was a true star 🌟 I miss him so much, his poor family must have been in bits, I will carry on loving him till the day I die 😊
+Sue David was a rare creature. I also weep when realizing the impact of our loss. He was a gift. So very grateful he shared parts of himself with us. I could go on endlessly about not only his artistic contributions but also how he was as a human being. WONDERFUL person! Yearn or crave are not strong enough words to describe how much I wished to have met him. I can't even begin to image what his beloved wife, Iman, must feel. Her heartache surpasses any fans.
Bowie is a great loss and I will miss him 'till my last day on Earth, but he is dead, and he can't feel happy or anything else. That is what happens when you die.
I was at the Dick Caveat show...and David's runny nose was just one indication that he was zonked on coke...But for the record, he never disappointed me in concert or his albums...I got to see him over 35 times in concert...and got to meet him twice at his invitation...he had a great sense of humor, very warm, gracious and extremely funny...He really was a nice guy...
One thing that has always touched me was his answer to the question if he indulged in any form of worship - "life. I love life very much". This is such a great attitude
I think that guy from the BBC in the early interviews realized part way through how intelligent Bowie was and his attitude towards him changed - I bet he expected him to be some dopey, arrogant, fad-ish rock star.
Thank you very much. I always watch Bowie's interviews when I'm sad or anxious, so I get happy and relaxed when I hear his sweet voice. I really miss him.
I'm not a fan of David Bowie's music but I'm a fan of David Bowie. He's one of a few who can truly be called a rock star. What I like about Bowie is that he's never been afraid to be daring, which is also a sign of his great intelligence. And nothing says it better than his MTV interview w/Mark Goodman. The way he took on the channel for its lack of black representation was daring to say the least. And he could do it because he was David Bowie. What struck me most about it was his genuine interest in the answer to his question. And how, at a certain point, he went from being interviewed to being the one to take control of the interview. It's a legendary interview for good reason. He's definitely one of a kind and we'll probably never see another one like him again soon.
He is the hero he sang about. So incredibly intelligent., generous Loving kind human being and shared with generations his joy and love of the human condition.
Yeah, can’t really blame him. You can see how the MTV guy was conveniently sidestepping all of Bowie’s critical questions, because it wasn’t “easy” to answer.
Star light, Star bright, where's our glorious Starman tonight...?? Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. We give our hearts to you, we must!! All throughout the ages, you turned the pages of our life, you dealt with sorrow and you dealt with strife. All this to bring us to a new dimension, a new vision and out of our mortal prison. The dynamics of your craft has kept us spellbound. We await your soul on a rewrite or a rebound. So many facets of your clever mind, your legacy you left behide. Pure love and adoration for your inspiration, you've lived your life as your own creation, and only those who've always loved you will ever know.... Our dearest Starman, please, on with the show....... Written by Laura A. Borguss All rights reserved. (C) 2018.
There's one particular interview, where his hair is longer, the interviewer is horrible. His expressions show he has no clue what he's doing nor does he get David at all. The one with his round shaded glasses. ( that fake posh 💩 hasn't a clue.
Bowie really was an enigma. From a purely musical and artistic perspective I much preferred Bowie's early work to the later stuff. When you see his early interviews he comes across as being overly pretentious and somewhat insecure whilst later in his life, in most of his interviews, he seemed to be so more relaxed and down to earth.
I actually like his later stuff like Outside a lot. And Blackstar (the song) is one of the greatest works he ever did. Turning death into art. Amazing. But I think maybe different eras of Bowie resonate with different people's feelings about their time in their life.
David Stopford I’ve tried so hard to keep an attitude of acceptance and have failed miserably. I’ve been crying a lot in the last few days, and this is getting close to 4 years later. Bowie, Prince, Tom Petty, Chris Squires, Greg Lake, Keith Emerson.... these are some recent losses in music that have destroyed me.
David Bowie, a man who strived to innovate. From the Glam Rock to the Blue Eyed Soul and more experimental music. He never wanted be associated with one image and that makes him my personal favorite solo artist.
Bowie virtue-signaling his ass off about "black artists not being shown enough in prime time". What a liar. He must have confused this with Apartheid Africa of the 80s, the poseur...
Hearing Bowie talk about the internet with so much accuracy is a weirdly startling feeling. I don't know when the interview at around 28 minutes was conducted but it feels like I'm watching him look into the future.
It might have been the same interview in my minds he does look the same with his hair and even that shirt he's wearing. But in the snippet of an interview I saw he was talking about the internet and he said that the potential for it was beyond imagination (what could be imagined at that time) and that what it would achieve and what it would do..,. Okay well he said it would be beyond imagination but he didn't really say exactly what or good or bad..... I don't know you have to see it yourself cuz you'll see.
Haha1:26…I was the same when young …I wasn’t even famous though lol… now I’ve swapped round I’m asleep early and awake early lol it’s like I’m Chanelling David aswell tonight a bit of both. A Beautiful Soul. ✨
David Bowie was a brilliant artist who managed to leave an indelible legacy for everyone who is still here on this big blue marble to continue to enjoy well after he boarded his spaceship to a new destination
Thank the universe for Bowie ,he was a visionary artist who we will always be grateful for. We need Artists Real Artists to truly live . Fund the arts ,schools, and throughout our society.
this is a really good collection of interviews, thank you very much! Only one thing that annoys me a bit is that sound and vision don´t go together well, the sound is always half a second before the video. Is that only me or my computer or do you other guys have the same problem with this video?
I love how introspective he was, and a pioneer for doing things your way, not trying to fit in. I love how he called out the MTV interviewer about not giving airtime to black musicians in a calm and intelligent way. He really was quite intelligent. I will always love him and his music.
Russell Harty (second one in) - good God, how awful, and amateur? It's as though the intended interviewer's plane was delayed, and they looked around the room, and said: "I say, you over there - with the mop, could you stand-in whilst we operate the cameras?"
Wonderful singer and genius song writer /performer, intelligent, smart compassionate and loyal David with a wonderful sense of humour! ❤️💜❤️ The Best Is Yet to Come ❤️💜❤️🕊️🙏🌎
Absolutely true David Bowie is David Bowie, you can't compare him with any other artist. A fascinating man. I like to listen to him, he's always funny and smart.
13:24 - Question:"So You know somewhere someone is writing a learning paper in a University called something like Jagger and Bowie profits of a pluralistic society and others different prophets of doom It's a indeed ..." - Answer:"Grwol ... Grunt ..." Great David! Grunt forever
Really they thought he might bite the interviewer lovely gent was David Bowie ppl have some daft notions still now lol…that’s coming from their own minds though isn’t it ..better wear a clove of Garlic round your neck…make a police from it. lol
I don’t like flying either not in a plane anyway lol Four times once for Work…3 holidays won’t be doing it again I’m a home bird anyway I don’t like being far from my family lol 💜🦢💜
I could listen to h8s voice and look at him for a lifetime. He's so charming and intelligent and has Romany interests. He overame a cildh9od and easy adulthood full of mentalilness and addiction. He is so strong and an example of how you can overcome obstacles no matter how difficult Miss davy Jones and hope to meet you again maybe life on Mars ❤
Generally I like Dick Cavett but he started off this interview badly with Bowie, nonstop cliches. Plus Bowie sniffs a lot, I guess indicative of the drugs at the time. Anyway I love David Bowie, saw him 4 times!
