They can't play the fiddle tunes and without Firmin on Sax at the Big Band shows there's no personality in the rest of the band. I enjoy seeing him once a year but in the mid to late 70's until he called it quits in 1980 I went to every show I could.

I also remember being 2 years old listening to Big Band live radio waffling down the hallway when my mom propped me up on the couch as a baby AND too I knew the difference between Stan Kenton, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, and all of the big bands.. AND getting right down to it about African-American. I grew up on the wrong side of the tracks in Kansas at 5 years old. My side of the tracks was indigenous Native Americans who were survivors of being slaughtered by good Christians, being denied the right to use their own religion and language no matter their tribal affiliation, being forced to accept a white God and a White Jesus which was a fallacy... as it is now we all know.
