Going to change the backend filter, clean the mesh and any gauzes and put 25litres of super universal in and hope for the best! Imagine the oil and filter have never been changed before but will look into the valves as well, thank you !

Not seen such a tidy David Brown in a long time like yours, I can see why you purchased the old girl. Today I have been helping my friend on his David Brown 990 removing the head as the valve seals have failed and pushing oil out of the exhaust. After further investigation the piston rings are shot too so going to do a rebuild it’s a tidy old tractor so worth spending the money. I’ll put up a Video show what we are doing. The Chieftain is coming along really well :) we have been working solidly for the last 4 weeks and in that time we have resprayed it in NATO green BS285. We still need to remove the engine pack, GUE engine and generator and also the transmission. I will put up a walk round video soon explaining what we have done we are close to completing the restoration work so soon be looking for another project to do again.

Oh nice! Sounds like youve had quite a bit of fun with the 990! Cant wait to see another video on the chieftan i need to watch the latest one you posted, i did think youd gone quite for videos for a while now. Im hoping to paint the 996, straighten up a few panels that have a few dings, and learn to weld the 2 holes in side of cab, going to buy an arc welder as we only have a mig. Got your eyes on any specific projects?

I should post more videos and start explaining what we doing with these project! But it’s all time that I seem to have very little of as our main business is horizontal directional drilling with having projects nationally theres a lot of travelling too! I wouldn’t use an arc welder as it maybe too powerful. Your better off using your mig welder and weld in short distance to try and stop the panels from distorting out of shape. Take your time and have a go it’s only way of learning new skills. No not yet but I’m sure something will catch my eye one day!

She's a keeper, atm she needs backend oil and filter and a siezed brake doing then we will start using the loader on her more as it takes revs to get the loader to move.

Worked out to the condition i wanted to go id of spent £3-4000 and seen a few sell for around £6000 so took the profit and moved on lol 😆 and thats not including if it needed clutch, pumps etc to get running was a shame but she was just to far gone think to much water had got into the engine. Always the leyland restoration lol 😆 might give the db996 a coat of paint and tidy up with the missing bits, have a good day bud
