The EU has a show of democracy but, unless they have changed things since we left Euro MPs cannot vote out legislation brought forward by the unelected commission. And they cannot bring forward legislation either. The EU president was unelected by Britons. It follows that it is unelected. We used to pay them a fortune; we still do but hopefully that will be resolved. Eu trading practices make many thongs more expensive. The EU is incredibly corrupt with money leaking away to unknown places to the extent that auditors have had difficulty signing off the accounts. They have talked about having their own army which means they can start a war anytime they can arrange it. An ever available supply of low cost workers.has driven down wages in the UK too. The British public had been expressing concerns about EU membership ever since the Maastricht Treaty was signed in 1993. This came to a head first when Blair started talking about joining the Euro, and again circa 2008 when we had the proposed European Constitution and then the Lisbon Treaty which replaced it. The public had been promised a vote on Europe for years by all the main parties and one had not been delivered. When we finally got one, we took the opportunity to get the heck out of the EU. Grieve, like his beloved Brussels, detests democracy and would never have allowed a referendum. I am glad he is out of politics and I would be happy never to see his much in public again.
