Hed have been better off with some Marines. We literally sing cadence and love crayons in boxes. Were fakin loud as well. Either way well done to these men.
I haven't been in a social gathering for 6 years. I never ever thought that I'd see men in ☮️ but it isn't over we ARE going to find out where that road goes! Gentlemen I'm crying my eyes out. I've been singing these songs about 38 years ago. God bless all and music is the weapon of our future!
My dad used to sing Blow The Man Down to us when we were little. My sister and I would call back in song with him. That was about 35 years ago. I searched out this song so I can sing it to him again. Unfortunately he can't speak anymore and his time is very short. But life is beautiful and sweet and music has a way of soothing the soul.
Living near Alexandria, Virginia, that old town has almost as many Irish bars and pubs than any town in Ireland. And Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, every damn one has live artists and bands singing every drinking song and sea shanty you could possibly think of. It is literally packed wall to wall singing drunks in every one. You would think they were competing. Then it turns into one huge pub crawl. This is every weekend of the year and some are cop bars, some fireman bars. Don't confuse them !! Then on New Years Eve they host First Night where every pub and restaurant has one group or another playing about a 25 minute show every half hour. You buy one ticket and it gets you in everywhere, but that is set up more family friendly. Usually that is alcohol free until 10pm and the kiddos go home. Most of the buildings are even origional to the late 18th century. It is perfectly insane and everyone needs to experience it at least once.
They were copying his left which is port (not all men) but the atmosphere resembles real ship life. This is amazing. Glad to come across this video. By the way, I did sail with my friend quite a bit in SC so I know sailing terms yet was in no way talking sh**. Fraternal songs helped create the new world. Can’t say how lovely and needed this was for me.
For David to include this group in a shanty that the internet would watch and see some of these gentlemen not participate disappoints me. I am looking at the gentleman in green and the guy in the front in a grey shirt and glasses. National Guard commanders should council any man that doesn't conform to unit activities like the active US Army.
@@williambell7086 MAINE. it's the MAINE NATIONAL GUARD. there is no marine national guard, only the army and air force. for fucks sake man, if you're gonna be condescending at least don't be laughably wrong
Jared Wroten - Look, it doesn’t fuckin matter who did or didn’t participate. They’re clearly not on duty. Let them be. If they want to just sit and absorb the atmosphere, then let em!!! Honestly, “council any man that doesn’t conform to unit activities” Not singing a shanty in their downtime should count as a professional infraction? the fuck is wrong with you?? Get over yourself already
Dude, relax. Most appear to be drinking. Not an official function. Don't take life so seriously. They're not swimming into the surf saving a life. They're singing and drinking, or not singing and not drinking. They're having fun. You must be a fan of mandatory morale.
My My there is so much testosterone in that room! I used to work in the Lawrence Hall of Science Maritime program and go out to schools and had to do this song with 8th graders and I hand it to David Coffin for being able to get those guys paying somewhat of attention. I couldn't get my 8th graders to get into the song. Oh well that's why David is who he is
