David Cook - Charlie's Soliloquy (Reprise) + Soul of a Man, Kinky Boots on Broadway 5.5.2018 

Everybody say YEAH! Okay, this is what it sounds like to be in a theater with David Cook unleashing that Voice in the service of a pivotal moment of a great character's story. This is a monster song to sing (thank you Cyndi Lauper) but you'd never know from David's performance. Check ANY other YT vids of this song (gasp) and you'll see (gasp) what I (gasp) mean. Even standing stock still (which David does not - he's all over the stage, jumping up on a box, etc), most singers just can't pull this off with such beautiful, long phrases and soaring high notes. The best thing? When he sings this song in Act 2, David has just sustained the tension through a highly emotional, prolonged series of events on stage which provide the ramp to this song. This is an acting challenge some Charlies have risen to and some have struggled with. If you EVER get a chance to see Kinky Boots live, take it. If you get a chance to see David Cook in Kinky Boots, sell as many worldly possessions as it takes and GO!
