20-odd years ago I never liked Gillian, now that I'm older I just realized how wonderfully beautiful she is as a woman and in character. How could you not simply fall in love with that woman on the spot?
Yeah, David is usually a lot more talkative and fun at these things, here he just seems fed up with life, let alone some panel. Gillian's picking up the slack pretty good. Tbh I'm pretty fed up with the dumb ass questions about x files most of which have been asked and answered over and over again throughout the years. And I'm speaking as a great fan. Watched the original run which defined my tastes and probably shaped more than a few opinions, not to mention my first ship :) But I'd rather watch them read a cook book and poke fun at it or have a conversation about literally anything else because they feed off of each other's energy so brilliantly
It's clear he was kinda tired of doing XF panels at this point and dealing with the silly unscreened questions. I think he prefers to be in a more controlled environment where the questions won't be weird or uncomfortable. He isnt a fake person so if he doesn't like something, it's pretty obvious.
@@SuperImprovGal I appreciate that actually. And also love Gillian for that, she is even more straight forward I feel. I always laugh to her firm NO on the continuation of the series at some comic con. And she bloody meant it at the time haha. I truly wish panels, comic cons, whatever featuring David and Gillian just gave them like a yarn and let them be hilarious and chat while they learn to knit or whatever, because they are brilliant by themselves and off the charts when combined. They can do anything. Just ban any and all X files questions if not pertaining to the newest season if there is one at a given time and when that year is over, they crochet or dance or watch horror movies and comment for an hour and a half😆
I agree. X files was always tongue in cheek supernatural horror and the partnership of David and Gillian made it a cultural phenomenon. It wasn’t until I saw Gillian in Bleak House that I realised she was Shakespearean trained and knew that she would have an awesome career ahead of her. I’m 42 and whilst I didn’t watch all the X Files episodes religiously as I couldn’t seconder the one family tv we had I would catch up on certain episodes at friends houses
I love them both. You gave life to my favorite two fictional characters: better than any book, better than any movie, better than any other tv show. Best wishes to both of you!
Folks giving them a hard time... The questions were so boring... Have been answered many times before... Quit giving DD a hard time. He's admitted to being more introverted and quiet. He's at a very extroverted event and he's just trying to get through or... But one on one interviews he's super funny and engaging. Side note: can we appreciate DDs handsomeness? Aka nice biceps in the tshirt 🔥
God some of the questions. I have never suffered from so much second hand embarrassment as I have watching this. Is it any wonder DD shut down a little. Christ.
Hello everyone! I will be honest. I am using the Google translator at this time because it is really late and I am very late. With that combo, I can write anything that nobody will understand:) I do not know if it will be nostalgia of mine. Or that I am very tired, but I saw the gestures, the expressions and looks of both. It's as if they do not want to be there anymore. As if they wanted to get up and leave Did anybody notice that? or am I just having a bad day?.
Maver Maver I think they had already been sitting at tables for hours meeting people and signing autographs. And I believe David thinks before he speaks so he seems quite serious at times when he’s really just thinking. And other times they are just listening.
I agree with Kisha. I think they might have been a little tired but I don't feel like they wanted to leave. They've been talking XF for 25 years so maybe the conversations about M/S can get repetitive.
I think if I got asked some of those questions I’d be in a mood to. He’s always so much better in the one-to-ones than he is on the panels but some of those questions man, just urgh.
I loved the show and I loved their chemistry and dynamic, but I found it disappointing that they both seem to be bored with the show and that they seem to resent the involvement with it on some level. If they don't want to engage anymore with "The X Files" it would be better not to do anymore fan events and conventions like this. They don't owe us all anything and it is their decision what they want to do as regards their careers, but they run the risk of looking quite ungrateful towards the fandom that actually made them household names. It's not necessary to end things on a negative note. The last season I felt during the promotion that Gillian wasn't invested in the show and she announced it was her last season during the promo which basically overshadowed the season. She could have saved news of her departure until later. It's her choice like I said as it's up to her what her career path is and she owes nothing to fans, but you would have thought she might have wanted to end positively with a show that made her famous and whose fandom was the first to truly support her.
David sounded like he was ready to do S12. He has said he was thankful for the fans and was very aware we're the reason the show was able to come back. He isn't always attentive at these fan panels because TBH the fan questions can get cringey and the moderators tend to repeat the same questions they've already been asked a hundred times. But one on one when you meet him he is super attentive and will look you in the eye and listen to you. Gillian just seemed disappointed with the way the series ended. She apologized to the fans because a lot of fans felt the same way.
@@SuperImprovGal Thank you for your comment. I had no intentions of offending anyone and I am a fan of David and Gillian, but I was simply making observations about my views of things. It is David and Gillian's choice what they want to do with their careers and we are not owed anything. I said that. I just feel that more Gillian than David actually have become a little fatigued with the whole idea of the show and the show itself so I was just questioning whether it's wise for them to return and do events like this when their hearts are not in "The X Files" anymore. That's just the way I have seen things. Others may have different ideas, I completely respect that people see different things and my comment was not intended to cause offence. I know what you mean about the embarrassing lines of questioning, but they have had a great many benefits from the show so it balances out.
Oh no no worries! I appreciated the comment. I wasn't offended at all. It's clear Gillian is done with XF and has no desire to go back. From what I've heard off the record everyone else was on board to do S12 but she halted that and I don't think the fans or network were ready to proceed without her.
@@SuperImprovGal I completely agree with you in the sense that I think Gillian is done with the show. I am not sure what will happen if she stops getting other roles. She might regret being so final about it. Everyone is entitled to move beyond things.
@@kwest7942 thanks for your comments I am a long time fan and I agree time goes on, new roles are tempting, it's a good thing to move forward. But never say never. ....
"the feminist perspective".. please Scully is one of the greatest character, how can she become that if she wasnt a great female ?..... open your eyes PPOEPLE, think by yourself
l love the xfiles. Was there when they first started. But I have to say these last few years Gillian Anderson seems angry about being a part of an amazing show and an amazing character that I feel put her on the map. I'm think I'm going to stop watching these live interviews and just watch the re runs because they don't disappoint. Love the show and love the characters :)
@@anitac12345 what tf are you talkin about. Gillian is still successful. Have you watched the crown? She keeps winning awards hun. Not to mention that she'll be star in a new upcoming TV series that will be epic. She produces as well (see; sex education)
It's extremely low effort for a lot of pay. I think they were a bit burned out from doing comic cons when this happened. Honestly they've never been all that great when dealing with fans. I was in the fan community for over 25 years. They've gotten a little bit better in recent years but if I were charging my fans all that money, I would at least try to make an effort to act like I wanted to be there.
It seems that David and Gillian switched personalities as they got older. Duchovny is more fan friendly and Anderson seems not so much as she got older. Also, they look, especially Gillian, like they hated the final of the show like most of us! It was horrible and a shit way to end an iconic series!
Yeah Gillian apologized to fans for the last season and how it all ended. She came back for S11 because she thought it would have a better resolution. I think she is over all of it. David and CC wanted to continue into S12 and from what I heard all the others were on board (Mitch, Annabeth and even William B Davis) David definitely appreciates all the fans but as most actors are, his mood can be hit or miss. If you get him on a good day, he is amazing. If you get him on the bad day you will think he's a total dck.
@@SuperImprovGal Always remember that Chris Carter thought David was almost retarded when they first met. The official line was "he seemed a bit slow" but I heard from several people close to the show that it was the first description. David is just a very moody downbeat guy, he does not have much of a personality which is why he is an actor because he can pretend to be someone else.
The host is horrible. He asks weak questions and within the questions starts answering for the actors. You can tell Duchovny is ONLY doing this for the money - He is not thrilled to be there. Gillian is trying to be a good sport.
when you don't know what you are talking about, you shouldn't speak... it's clear you weren't there and haven't seen other panels or fan interactions with them. They are so nice and gracious in person and VERY VERY VERY thankful for their fans!
Well as I said in a semi-related comment on the Part 2 of this Panel: "PSA to all fans - Don't be dicks! (sic) As your mother taught you "Treat others as you'd like to be treated" so have some empathy and look at everything through their eyes before you put your foot in your mouth. Please and thank you
Is it just me or does David seem annoyed and almost arrogant, a lot of the time, here? I have seen other clips where he looks like he is having more fun.. I wonder why he seems so...annoyed? 🤔
I think because of his ADHD he has a hard time focusing during comic con panels. I've seen him zoning out and staring at the ceiling when other people are talking. He isn't being challenged enough or the conversation isn't stimulating and he zones out. Part of it could be arrogance but I think it's mostly boredom. Especially when it's the same questions over and over again they've had for 25+ years. Some of the questions were also a bit bizarre tbh. He's definitely more focused and responsive when he does a single panel with just him and a host and the questions aren't all XF-related.
David doesn't come across as arrogant. You are seeing something, (subjectively,) that I don't believe is there. He doesn't have to appear happy and excited all the time. He is a real person and we should remember that.
