I mean what was even the point of bringing Jay Leno as a guest. He used to host the show earlier. It should have been Rashida Jones or Kristen Bell(well she was prego do she couldn't have been there but anyhoo) or Mila Kunis or David Duchovny or Desmond Tutu. Hell I would have taken Hugh Laurie or Larry King too.
I think the point of bringing Leno was because Leno and Letterman (Craig's boss) have a beef, Craig wanted to show that he didn't take sides. Though I wonder if Letterman was pissed at the end.
David, he also attended both Princeton and Yale. If I recall correctly, he wasn't too far away from getting his PhD in English literature before he was cast in a commercial and caught the acting bug.
Thank you Jayleno for all the Craig Ferguson videos! I’ve totally enjoyed them and had never watched him until I stumbled upon your channel. What a gem of a guy! I had a total crush on David Ducoveny for many years. It was great to see all these interviews back to back.
For some reason i can't imagine Duchovny getting angry. Also, it's truly amazing watch the evolution of TLLS through Duchovny's appearances. Thanks again to The Jayleno Fly...
He's been annoyed about being asked the same question over and over again in interviews, but even when he's pissed off (at least in public appearances), he still has a pretty calm tone. He comes across as self-assured and humble at the same time, if that makes any sense. Like he knows he's smart, and he knows what he wants and isn't afraid to speak his mind, in a very matter-of-fact way. He used to come off as cocky at time, when he was younger, but it seems like he has mellowed out over the years.
So, this was Craig's first guest. It's amazing how laid back and quiet Craig Ferguson was on his first show. Somewhere along the line that all changes. :-)
he once said in a interview everything changed after he had Desmond Tutu as a guest. Desmond told him he was crazy or insane, but he also said Craig was the perfect kind of crazy. I think that was the turning point for him
"You are crazy, but it's the type of crazy this world needs" - and he wasn't wrong. Kudos to Desmond Tutu for getting Craig to shake off his TV-Host coil and just be himself.
People criticize everything online and without fail say the older thing was better I mean no matter what it is they will say that it just doesn’t matter. If anything he seemed more nervous at first and overtime loosened up hence why more of the comedy came out. I don’t get that at all though, he seemed similar throughout and later just gained a great sidekick and maybe relaxed some overtime.
He is hilarious in a quiet, subtle way. Chilled yet eccentric. Mellow and strange. I just had to go back and search pictures of him and Gillian in the first few years of X-files, and they were beautiful and intelligent looking, both of them, made me want to go back and binge on the first few seasons of X-files….
"That really is a lovely film." Gets me every time how calm Craig is in the early episodes. Even his tone of voice is different. There is no nonsense, no silliness or his later i-don't-care attitude.
I don’t really get what people mean by that. He always had that, he came from punk rock but that was also like part of the shtick. He was always fantastic as an interviewer people just say the older stuff was better no matter what it is like it just doesn’t matter. If anything he seemed more nervous up front and overtime settled in and then got the greatest sidekick of all time also but he was always sort of charming and good with people.
Hey Jay Leno Fly, your videos pretty much introduced me to craig and friggin love it....not sure how difficult it would be but I think it would be a cool compilation of all the "bits" leading up to Craig calling that dude a racist. They've always cracked me up
Willy Pickton that's a great idea for one! I started watching Craig about 4 seasons in to his late night career. But this channel is just full of gems!
Being born May 18 1962 I see how Craig matured and relaxed in the show but also understand his anger at CBS for "owning" him they didn't show him the love he deserved. Craig is a talented human being with heart. We do all love and miss him.
He said they didn’t market him that much, that could be a complaint of many shows and quite a few that were canceled before their time like Firefly. But ultimately they gave him quite a bit of freedom and let him rag on them a lot and he became extremely rich working for them of course he also brought them a unique show. The other hosts were on a lot longer and had to deal with constraints as well, but Ferguson to me was something else.
I've got the same birth day as Duchovny Sept different year. But I'm Polish, German, French, and Norwegian. Born and raised in Wisconsin. My old man was layed back but my mother being the Polish side workaholic preached, "Too Much of Something, Is Never A Good Thing."
I wish this was all still done now. And the next now (Wright?). And Wavy had their own show. A Scottish mother is more than enough to be Scottish and he proves it by being able to prononce Craig. Rather than Kreg. Thank you.
+jesse to be fair it looks much better on the old gen fat TV's, also the recordings sometimes seem to be from VHS recordings :). But yea, you're right. Wonder how our current techs looks to us in a few years when we maybe all wear VR glasses
David as a serious Actor, obviously takes his Art very seriously yet didn't want to be there.. But, obviously you have to do these things. Or it's Breach of Commercial Contract sh$t. And Studios fine them.👌
15:50 I had to rewind to figure out winch child actor he name checked. RIP Anton Yelchin. He was amazing as Checkov in the JJ Abraham movies. Taken from us far too soon.
It's so weird to see Craig actually let him plug the projects he's doing...I'm used to them BARELY bothering to touch on whatever project ghe celebrity's doing as he loosens up later.
why is there an Australian flag when he swears? There should be a Scottish flag. Also, lets not pretend that the Royal family are not literally the King and Queen's of making booty calls. Charles had people smuggled into his palace all the time.
forgot how great David is. Is he in anything new thats cool? cause unfortunately the new xfiles are a bit of a hit and miss and that Charles Manson thriller is a bit forgetable...
hold up... is that six year old boy punching David Duchovny in the balls in that picture wearing a Son Goku outfit...? cuz if so, I no longer care about David Duchovny, and I wanna know what that kid is up to now.
That is what people claim. They say that he's a notoriously difficult actor to work with that he is very moody that he goes through writers and staff faster than people change their underwear. I look at him more like Harrison Ford you know a lot of people say that Harrison Ford is aloof and unruly and conceited. But I think it's a form of self-preservation I think it's a defense mechanism for people like them. You gotta think about what that world does to you
Gotta love dave. Fun Fact: Emanuel Swedenborg was actually born in Sweden. Download his latest book “Heaven & Hell” for free at swedenborg.com. You no it makes NO cents.
David in real life reminds you of an uncle, who only talks when pissed. Xfiles he played very well, but in real world, man he really is a poor guest, too uptight.
