I'm using the Vibrawell V3 mallets in this video. They are the hardest mallets I use in my day to day playing but slightly softer ones would have also done a great job.
Hi Joshua, thank you, that's so nice of you to say! I've seen this whole collection being graded level 5, but if you've pulled off "Music of the Day" then "Midnight Star" shouldn't be much of a challenge for you. Alot of people struggle with the syncopation in this piece but if you take it slow at first, it shouldn't be a big deal. All the best!
@@heavyvibes90 Hey I'm looking into doing this solo either next year, or year after next for UIL solo and ensemble but its not on their prescribed music list, not sure what lvl 5 means could you give some context or compare with UIL scores because music of the day is on the list and it classifies as a class 1 so would you say midnight star might also be?. also great job
@@XGamer-fv4sm thank you for your comment. I do not know about UIL scores but I would say that Midnight Star and Music of the Day are equally challenging. I guess publishers grade their music before release and both books are graded level 5 so you should be good.
Thank you for your comments. I would like to encourage you to support David Friedman by buying Mirror from Another. It is one of the greatest collections of pieces for Vibraphone. www.alfred.com/mirror-from-another/p/00-0335B/
