Geffen sold her first songs (without her knowledge) to start his own label. That's why she went to Columbia Records and Geffen claims he was the victim of betrayal.
Yes I was trying to figure out why she turned on him like that and betrayed him . .... and it did sound like she knew something about him so upsetting that she didn't even want to bother telling him because she figured he should know why she left him for Columbia . My guess is yes he sold them without her knowing and then of course split the money with her but if she didn't want her music sold and he did this without her knowing it that would be a terrible thing to do like selling someone's children !
David is a duplicitous friend who wants to help you. Usually he helps you out of your money, dignity, and spirituality because you feel like a fool when your "friend" takes you to the cleaners. Of course, by being your FRIEND he just caters to your emotions by telling you what you want to hear. Then he steals the family "silverware" but tells you he is going to help you find it. Until you finally realize who really took it. He likes young talent because they aren't sophisticated enough to understand what a real snake is, until they meet David of course. But hey, he has lots of company in a business full of monster egos. money, parasites, influence, drugs, parties, women, and decadence to the max.

Leon said he lived off three of his songs for decades. e.g., "Superstar" from the Carpenters cover. Laura didn't have that chance. But, without him, she was not good at business; she sold "And when I die" for $5,000 to Peter, Paul, Mary, so she got no royalties when Blood, Sweat Tears made a fortune on it for the copyright holder. David wanted Laura to sign with his new Asylum Records label, but, after he took 50% of her song money, she decided against it and went with Columbia. He felt betrayed and cried for days, he said. At least, Laura got $2.5 million by age 24, for her half, after splitting with Geffen.
Nyro had already made the greatest debut pop album of all time before she met David, 'More Than a New Discovery' released early 1967. Honoured in the Grammy Hall of Fame.
With the exception of Laura Nyro , I have been looking but can't find anything about what he did to other people especially the musicians and songwriters but I do believe he's probably done some underhanded things but I can't find anything about it . So please tell me what you can or at least tell me where to look because yes Google's a crappy search engine and I haven't changed my search engine yet and I'm not finding anything on RU-vid which is owned by Google but I do want to know what he did to these other people
Geffen made a lot of artists, but I liken it to dangling a carrot in front of a horse & it ploughs 10 fields for you. He supposedly sold Nyro's catalogue without her knowledge to start up his own record company. Sounds like the kind of guy who would sell his grandmother if the price was right.

Check out how he ruined the career of another genius singer songwriter, Judee Sill. Robbed us off her amazing talent. She upset him and never worked again. Says all you need to know about him.

Aside from what he did to Laura Nyro , I have been looking and trying to find stories of what he did to other people and how he ripped them off because I do believe he probably did some shady things but I can't find any thing . Please can you tell me what he did the other people and who they were or if you can't do that can you please steer me towards the sources where I can find that info because I've looked and I give up ... maybe with all his money and power he hired people to look and let him know where people are saying negative things about him and maybe he forced them to take it down under threat of suing them but if you know of any sources please let me know where I can find this info
David made his first million dollars with his managing laura. It was her. It was her. However I really think he wouldn't ever gave her what she wanted which was her own freedom in the studio and we got some amazing music from his management
