71,stage 4 prostate cancer, and someone i just met here giving me hope. There is enough hatred and suffering in our world. Thank You for the Blessing and kind words. you made my day..
I had a baby in 1987 I was 15. Pink floyd came to phoenix. The coliseum was about a mile away, i put my baby in a stroller and walked there to see all my friends jump the fence and get in. But I didn't leave. My baby got to see all the lasers and hear the music. We got home and I told him we just experienced future history! To this day he is a huge music fan and lover. I never told him he went to pink floyd when he was 4 months old. But he did. We did! Missing you Derek K. (Mom)
September 1975…my Brother came home from USMC boot camp, as a coming home present I had 2 “Wish You Were Here” tickets waiting for him. Tommy is gone now but this music we shared will go on Forever! RIP my brother 2-21-77.
Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a David Gilmour show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. Hard to explain how awesome that moment was in my life. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold.
Watching Rick Wright here playing so beautifully on this STUNNING version of “Echoes” makes me cry with joy and sorrow simultaneously. This was his last public playing before his death - he was always the quiet member yet his sound anchored the band and gave them that mysterious, melancholy, and haunting Pink Floyd sound. Thank you Rick for the beauty and light you gave us!
Mr. Wright seemed like the type of person that would not say anything ill about anybody. I think his ejoyment in life was playing and singing. What you saw was what you got. You cannot say that about everybody.
Be 70 years old in a week and half and Pink Floyd gives me so many reasons to live on. God bless you all and Pink Floyd in particular. May 2024 be so much better than any other year that I have witnessed. Love and prayers for all.
We only get to have these experiences a very few times in our lives before there gone for good. The best we can do after that is relish the recorded aftermath. I thank god for the "live' opportunities we can choose to participate in when it's offered up. Enjoy every live crazy diamond while it's still here. This music may never be replicated in new forms so my ears will cherish what's left behind.
The presence of the three Davids (Gilmour, Bowie, Crosby) on stage, along, the soothing and exalting harmonies of Gilmour, Crosby, & Nash, and Gilmour’s ownincomparable melodious voice, make this an experience to be cherished. Right from the first song ('On an Island'), you can observe Crosby and Nash lovingly basking in the music. My favourites ('Echoes,' 'Wish You Were Here') surpassed previous performances. The audience is seen gently head-banging to some of the more robust songs, often appearing as if they were playing the guitar alongside Gilmour. Rick Wright displays his genius unflinchingly proving he is a perfect pairing with Gilmour. For decades, I've been captivated by Pink Floyd's ability to weave words into poetry and transform music into something truly magical, profound, and transportive. Thank you David Gilmour. You will live FOREVER. Yours is music God himself listens to.
Crosby I met at one of his visits to the summer getaway of a certain Canadian singer-songwriter with the very odd time signature in her playing. I have a photograph of them sharing a laugh while lounging in some beach chairs, in behind the partial shade of some Arbutus trees
Can you imagine what it would be like with no RU-vid or similar? Concerts like this could only be witnessed and appreciated by the relatively few people lucky enough to attend in person. So lucky to be able to at least watch them now.
not yet famous bands of brothers playing their asses off in obscure dumps...stuff like that actually happened back in the 60s and 70s, you know. hell, even as late as the early 2000s. now almost every ´sucessful´ band is just a money cow, generated by some hotshot corporate producers
Let me tell you something David you are the best you are one of my unsung heroes you and Pink Floyd have been my music life ever since I was 17 years old and now here I am 65 and you guys are still rocking
I'm here because David Crosby died yesterday and I absolutely love that he and Graham are with my favorite band in the world. I haven't stopped crying?? Oh boy, I can never be prepared for losing Mr Gilmour. Your going to have to highly medicate me to get thru that one. 💔
Stop it. Don't get me started. I'm sick of death and dying of all things that's giving me reasons to carry-on. What am I to do once all the love has passed?
I'm not saying they can be replaced, but the music they leave us with is strongly alive, and the torch will be carried. For example, this beautiful acoustic guitar cover... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yi8nF6GaEfI.html
I can't help crying whenever listening to this fantastic concert. May my dream come true to hear him live playing somewhere not too far away from my home. He is my guitar king of heart.
Maybe not as complicated as some no he not speed metal with tricks and licks. DAVID IS SMOOTH WITH A GROVE, LITTLE FUNK LITTLE BLUES, SOMETIMES LEAVING YOU IN SUCH A PEACEFUL CONFUSE BUT WILL 100% LEAVE YOUR EARS BEGGING FOR MORE TO ME HE THE BEST SO MELODIC VERY DORIAN LOTS OF MINOR CHORDS AND SCALES YOU CAN NEVER GET ENOUGH REMEMBER HEADPHONES IS THE WAY TO LISTEN TO PINK FLOYD YOU WON'T REGRET IT
@@gatt2bhe always said he was not a fast player and imo for Pink Floyd's or his own material, he never needed to be. Along with Richard Wright, he creates moods and atmospheres so uplifting and musically perfect, his unique style so brilliant
David Gilmour is practically perfect to me as a guitarist & singer/songwriter. RIP sweet Richard, you were an excellent partner with Gilmour. You'll always be missed, glad we have your music.
David Gilmour is soooooo talented. I'm just amazed everytime I watch him in a vid. So melodic and makes it all look and sound so easy. A true master of his craft.
Jesus! First, he's got Crosby and Nash singing with him, to say nothing of the rest of the band... Then they play some of the best deep cuts off of the epic _Meddle_ (yes, it's _Echoes_ in its entirety!)... Then a quick CSNY number, since half of the band there anyway... _AND THEN DAVID BOWIE COMES OUT TO SING!?_ Legendary.
I know you are all hardcore fans. The first Act really demonstrates how Pink Floyd music was communal. It took the whole group to make the Art we love an' can't get enough of. The magic of synchronation, the people involved, and not just the core musicians, their friends and techies, too, their skills musically and peoplely, coming together truely produced incredible things. And we are so very lucky to have had it shared with us.
OMG the solo in comfortably numb puts my hair standing on end every single time I hear it. Thank you David Gilmore and Co from the bottom of my heart ❤️.
I just love David Gilmour - he’s so talented and he’s surrounded himself with such talented musicians and vocalists. I’ve watched this concert over and over again. RIP David Crosby…and of course David Bowie and Rick Wright. All were gone far too soon! 💔
The take of "When I Close My Eyes" here is great too - beautifully played, slowly rising with wistful nostalgia - and leading up to that dignified cornet solo by Robert Wyatt, sitting in a wheelchair (he fell out of a window during a party night around 1973) but still managing those graceful high notes. The way the others are treating him and making sure he's allright is so touching, and David's voice is thick with emotion as he announces him just after the song, you can hear the lump in his throat. And yes, this is one of the last stage performances of David Bowie. This one and Waters' "In the Flesh" dvd from a few years earlier are, in my opinion, the best Floyd-related concert films ever, they feel more alive and "into the core" of the music than e.g. Pulse.
Growing up I had a super neighbor who was 10 years older than me, he introduced me to " Piper's at the gates of Dawn " , I was 7. I'm going be 64 in a couple of days. That's 57 years of listening to Floyd. I was fortunate to have seen them, 3 times at their peak. Dark side of the moon, Animals and the Wall. Their progression through time was and is beyond awe. That's 7 decades. I couldn't even begin to picture what may have happened had they stayed together. But it is what it is, we have what we have , I think I'll let "Breathe", lullaby me to sleep tonite, again.
Headphones on, settled down with a nice drink at the end of a long week and my favorite band. Dave Gilmour still with the rasp in his voice, shredding his Fender and putting out the most soulful sax. Sprinkle in the most amazing harmonizations of Crosby Nash. Pink Floyd familiar, yet different, exciting, new. Bliss 🍻
Seeing these fantastic,,musicians from my younger times, with GREY HAIR, , ,, , ,truly causes me to distain the geriatric malfunctions of my own 70 trips around the sun while incarcerated on this planet. . . .BUT, , , grey hair &expanded waistlines and all; they still give me cause to appreciate/cherish, their immense artistic contributions which have frequently, tempered the tedium, of my tumultuous transits. , , ,I SO, hope, they OUT- LIVE ME!!!! THANK YOU, gentlemen!!!
Riascolto questo concerto ogni anno e parecchie volte all'anno 😍
His guitar, merely with his guitar only, his playing makes my emotions soar, skip along, float as a feather, crash against the rock, crack & burn flames high, and then rest, weightless, drifting far, far away. Where that is I do not know, but when I return, I feel cleansed, free from present worries, and completely refreshed.
There is NO ONE AND NOTHING like David Gilmour, Richard Wright, and Nick Mason (absent here). All the Floyds music penetrates the very core of my body and soul. David Gilmour continues to hypnotize me, sending my senses into another realm. I have adored the Floyd and David Gilmour since I was 11 years old. I'm now 61 and NEVER get tired of hearing them. I've seen him perform twice, and it's not enough... I will NEVER get enough of this 'master of his artistry'. Watching this today and honoring the indomitable Richard Wright, David Bowie, and David Crosby, may they rest in peace.
Blessings to all of you. We hear the cries, but we mingle in star light, and we find a path of a sunbeam on the riverside . Laying in the woods, we hear woodpecker beating against a tree as the bombs still go racing in air, a child of the river, and blood weeps in nations. There is a garden of Eden, so don't fill your mind with fear. The candle is inside of all us , fireflies will light the skies again. Hold on, man kind, We can rebuild our world one flicker of light at a time. The dynamite of war planes ships their flames must go out. Love will persevere. The rarity of all living creatures and all of us are the atoms of life.. Breathe. These powers of greed we will hang their minds on clothes line and give them a spring cleaning , we march on with freedom. Keep singing and playing instruments of peace.
PERFECT BY DAVID AS ALWAYS ..NONE MORE GIFTED ... AND ALLSTAR LINEUP ...AS. WELL..PLEASE KEEP PRESENTING THESE UNBELIEVABLE CONCERTS ...WE THE PUBLIC DONT KNOW WHAT WE ARE MISSING .UNTIL WE SEE THE GREATS ..ALL BETTER THAN EVER......
Oh my gosh. You're in for a treat as you go into Pink Floyd's and David gilmour's discography. David also had two very successful solo albums the first one is self-titled from 1978, the second is titled about face from 1984.
RIP GREAT RICK WRIGHT. Thank you for the colours of the sound of Pink Floyd. You brought us so much emotions and joy to our lifes. We will never forget you.
Timeless talent. We the fortunate generation lived in the same time on earth with all these incredible musical talents. Excellent choice of keyboard and bass players too ;) nuff said !
Music is to be enjoyed, not endured and the majority of new music is barely endurable. Gilmour is being enjoyed by the masses. I expect his music will be heard and enjoyed for many years to come.
One of only a few who have ever lived that can give you a legit out of body experience with a guitar.....extraordinary, unique, breathtaking, and beyond remarkable with mere words.
David has a pleading sound to his melodies that his minor keys accentuate. Also, his songs have philosophies that speak to so many of us that are caught in the real difficulties of life.

One of the greatest guitar players of all time. Solo and with Pink Floyd surely he give a big trace in world music from sixties till now. Rock masterpieces.........
How does this guy transform those ordinary notes into something so devastatingly magical and profound? I'll never understand it but boy am I glad I was around at this point in time to experience it.
There's an answer to this: listen and let the sound and music carry you away. Of course this is what happens to the listener, but to the performing artist as well! The art, maybe better put: an important part of the artist's craftmanship, is to put yourself in a state of mind that will allow for this. Another important part of the craftmanship is having a lot of audio/motoric routines in your body (brain included), and trust in this performing so you can put your mind to the carrying away part. Both crafts come from practice, which in turn comes from ambition.
We were here. We experienced this. Live. Later. No matter. Be in awe of the gift. Watching those aged hands of Gilmores on the guitar is a priceless image of timeless mastery.
His slide work is just… pristine. Most of the time when someone tries to duplicate their studio slide work it doesn’t come off sounding right and often just sounds bad but decades later he nails it like he’s recording it again. Incredible.
And here I only listen to the wall live up in the mountains at Indian Creek priest lake Idaho and finally had complete respect for Cindy lauper. She put on a great show, brought on a whole new feeling to the song.
Yes - I honestly think he has perfect pitch, as in the rarest form, perfect absolute pitch (meaning one has it from day one vs perfect relative pitch, which is developed by great musicians over time as they learn music). Gilmour’s interval relationships, intonation, and command of the slide - as in never missing pitches or flatting or sharping them - is just awe inspiring. Very very few guitarists with this command of the ear (pitch) AND the instrument (ability to hit every note perfectly)
There could be, if we all turned off our TV & all “news feeds” on our devices & shared only good things & love. Still could be if we threw out the crooks running the place. Peace :) Ps: some of us aren’t fooled & realise almost all our leaders need jailing. The people are generally good & enough of us believe in fairness & will stop bullies we see around us. Like things were a very long time ago.
3-4-5-1000 years, who knows, but for sure they did it first. I'm so grateful that I got the albums when they came out or shortly after. Now it's all nigga nigga nigga and I honestly don't understand. I'll hopefully drink good beer while listening to the good stuff while working on goodies in the garage. Love me some PF and many others, don't lose them folks, you can't replicate the goodness fr.
it's been said many times, but we did grow up in the best music era ever. How was there so much individual talent then and very little if any now. Even if you could like todays music it all sounds the same.

You can really feel the happiness and peace there, the whole bands chemistry is just amazing and David is as un real as ever, easily one of my favorite concerts!
In 1994, when "Pulse" came out, I said "Wow, he has definitely gotten better with age". Well, this was 12 years after that, and he has most DEFINITELY gotten B E T T E R with age! WOW! These songs are even better than Pulse, and I didn't think that could be improved upon. But leave it to him... he did it!
When this came out it literally changed the way I listened to music. High Hopes during this performance though is likely the greatest solo I've heard in my life. Not only is this version of Coming Back to Life the best he's recorded, watching Richard Wright grooving during David's solos is spectacular to see!!! ✌️
I got goosebumps at the end. Thank you David Gilmour, David Crosby, Graham Nash, David Bowie and Robert Wyatt and the rest of the band. The level of talent is unsurpassable.
I agree that the level of musicianship was absolutely extraordinary I was one of the very lucky audience members to have heard a rumour heard a rumour that David Gilmore was going to be playing at Roger Waters wall concert and am so I'd put somewhat somewhat riskilly I suppose my book I booked tickets to go to the go to the 1 of the evenings at the 02 in London And managed to persuade me at the moment at that time slightly slightlyeah at that time slightly sceptical wife my lovely wifey wasn't very convinced about progress rock um I'm a nice to persuade her to come with me Yeah and she was pleased that I did convince her because it was the most extraordinary concert The arrival of David Gilmore on the top of the wall with his axe in a spotlight elicited a scream from me which which my friends who listen to it on Rogers listen to it on Roger's website afterwards said they could hear and if they said I could hear your girly's scream Still it is something I am probably proud of Well definitely proud of and it was the most extraordinary evening thank you David thank you Roger Interestingly or sadly enough since that concert I since that concert I have been to the United States to New York in 2017 in 2017 and And due to a number of things ended up having a stroke And having to be airlifted back too airlifted back to viewer uk from New York from New York where I was maintained at the Mount Sinai hospital Mount Sinai hospital where they removed a large chunk at my brain and I presume whole bunch of whole bunch of clotted blood that had given that had given me the problem in the 1st place So here I am back in the uk sadly I'm not sadly I'm not installed at my home I'm installed at a care home nearer near Oxford nearer near Oxford very unhappily but no very unhappily but never mind they're good people they try very hard it's just not home for me show you I'm in sure young I mean they call it home but it's not home it's not my home it's a home or An Home,1 should say shouldn't1?
