After 35 years of listing to David Gilmour , and Pink Floyd, David is still the best and unrepeatable guitarist.

Excellent solo album... He was getting the boys ready to re - vamp Pink Floyd, and continue on, without Roger Waters...And to take the lead helm of the group... This resulted in Momentary Lapse of Reason/ Delicate Sound of Thunder... If you listen closely, this song has echoes of a future song, "Coming Back to Life"... Keep on keeping on, David...you are so beloved as an artist, guitarist, and rock icon...thanks for all the memories...😊 (Please play "Sorrow", the live version, from the "Delicate Sound of Thunder " tour...PLEASE......I know you played the live version of "Sorrow" from the "Pulse" concert, but please also play the aforementioned version also...PLEASE...) Love you guys and your reactions...a happy Hungarian from the U.S.A. ...😊

Great reaction! I agree with your statement that there is something magical about David's guitar playing. Certainly, there are many legendary guitarists that are perhaps more technically proficient, or can "shred" better than he, but his playing always goes straight to my soul.

I saw him in Dublin when he toured this album. Brilliant.

I was fortunate to see David twice during his About Face tour in 1984. I honestly don't remember if he played this song live, but he played most of the others from that album, along with many from his first solo album and of course, some Floyd classics as well. He and his band were absolutely incredible, and David seemed to really be enjoying himself playing in smaller, more intimate venues and free from the burden and intensity of those immense Floyd concerts.

Hi Folks nice reaction. You are still missing Echoes at Gdańsk, under David Gilmour, Ricks last performance of the song. It’s stunning believe me. Also some ideas, the genius of John Martyn - May you Never and The Stranglers - Walk on By, arguably the greatest cover version of any song…..in fact great cover versions is a good idea for a theme.. love Al

You need to just let it run into the next track "Near The End". It gives a glimpse of where he goes to next with songs like "Sorrow" or "High Hopes". I suspect the album version would be much shorter than any live version he played.

The much longer live version he played on the About Face tour included an extended fiery uptempo solo that always gave me goosebumps. Unfortunately it also included a completely out of place distracting sax solo too. I guess when you don't have the philharmonic orchestra to back you up you make do with what you have.

You're completely right about the extended live version of this track, but also right about the sax solo and it feeling out of place. I thought I was the only one who thought that. Kind of the same way the sax was included on There's No Way Out Of Here. I always felt let down by the live version of that one, unfortunately.

@@ianfortier6796 After posting on this thread I actually looked for, found and listened to a version from LA, and of course the last solo was absolute fire. Unfortunately I had forgotten about the key-tar solo as well. Sax and key-tar did not belong in this song. Tbh, key-tar did not belong in any song, all due respect to Jeff Beck and Jan Hammer.

c'est beau, c'est sur, mais comme pour la plupart des oeuvres de gilmour en solo, il manque le quelquechose qui a fait de PF le plus grand groupe de tous les temps
