Gilmour’s voice is something else. Most singers aren’t able to do their old songs justice as they age but David still has the physical and emotional ability to to tap into that “thing” which makes the song what it is.
It's also impressive because it was Roger Waters that sang this song originally, and Roger was more of a screamer than a singer nearing the end of his classic run with Pink Floyd (I consider their classic run from "Dark Side" to "The Final Cut".). It's difficult to do that.
I came from the future to tell you the following: 1 - Pompeii is on fire again; 2 - Guy Pratt is running like Hell; 3 - David Gilmour still rocks; 4 - Pink Floyd is forever! 👍🏻😎🤘🏻
Steve, on drums, knows he's got one of the greatest jobs in the World and you can see it in his face. Never Stops Smiling. He Plays all the greatest songs with 2 of the greatest guys of Pink Floyd, David and Guy.
That depends on your age I'm three months shy of 60 for me he's my peer nothing shy of Jesus and if that's not your game then he may just be.a galaxy in space... either way doesn't matter
The guy in the crowd at 6:49 with his hands out above his head, and then he grabs his head with his hands in amazement at what he just experienced...my feelings exactly, my friend...
Please God I hope I get the chance to see him again. Saw him in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Bowl in 2016 and it was a night I'll never forget. This song in particular blew my socks off.
Man... If I had been at that show, no way I would mess with a cell phone or recorder. Concerts like that need to be fully experienced, and tech gadgets lessen the experience. Our brains and memories are all that are needed!
Run like hell. 😳. Just brilliant to listen to in this setting. Bought this album 1979 when. It first came out, now 42 years later I'm still listening. Youngsters, take heed.
I I am one of the lucky ones who saw the PF concert in Venice in 1989 and this song was the last of that unforgettable show. soon after the fireworks set off, much more then like in this concert even today I have the chills to listen this music
You can totally tell the glasses he's wearing are the first pair of glass he find around in his house before getting to the concert. Totally random glasses just to protect his eyes from the psychedelic bombing. I mean, this living legend did the entire PULSE tour with a pair of gas station blu jeans. Every other rock star would have prepared his clothing with great care, you know, to have a "style". Gilmour just doesn't give a fuck, his style is his guitar, as for the rest no fucks given. Totally, totally, totally love the man and the artist.
These recordings are the best I've heard in 50 yrs of listening to Floyd! This song and comfortably numb should have a place in the guitar God Hall of Fame top 10!!!
David looks like he's just popped down the pub for a pint and some scampi and chips. Jeans, t shirt, some shades. Then whacks some shiitty looking Stratocaster and blows everyone's minds. David Gilmour: Humble, unpretentious and an absolute genius.👌👌👌
70mjc His has been modified. It’s quite a famous guitar known as the ‘Workmate’ I believe. In fact, it’s one of the only guitars he didn’t auction off recently. You know it’s a killer instrument when it takes priority over the black strat!
How do you get a sound like that? I mean, HOW??? How do you get a sound that literally fills an entire stadium like that?? It's not just the speakers. It's a vision. Wow.
Gilmour’s voice, in my honest opinion, keeps getting better as he ages. He had an incredibly beautiful voice in his youth, as well he still sounds amazing singing all of his earlier music which is not the case of most older musicians. In fact age has seemed to enhance his tonal abilities. I can not think of another vocalist that this applies to. He sings Comfortably Numb and Smile equally amazing. Not to mention his guitar playing.
There's no way I can't love this band, and David Gilmour is unmatched in that voice... It's a gift from the gods. What guitar and that lyrics ?? I travel to the universe and return to Earth. Thank you beloved master 👏👏✌💪☺ 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸 City- Paulo Afonso - Bahia - Brazil
Mark,... Safety, Absolutely,... Health, Absolutely NOT! Contrary to popular belief (*key word being "belief"),... the human eye is the organ that receives the Vitamin-D from the sun …. NOT through the skin.
PFWYG ; nonsense. It’s your belief. Vitamin-d is also through food, for example. Don’t claim those fake-news things. Luckily people can google for themselves, and find info from thrustworthy sources, not some random person on yt.
When you youtube-battle with a friend, who pics the better music--video, and you bring this one - your friend can only give up and listen. 1 epic piece, thx 2 all floyds! 🤩
I saw Pink Floyd at the Rose Bowl in the 90s and my buddy and I were late parking our car on the golf course adjacent and were running to the concert as the song "Run Like Hell" is playing and we start singing "Run Run Run Run..." and my friend almost collapses from laughing himself out of breath.
Now THIS is MUSIC..THIS is how you MAKE music!! David Gilmore is the man on that guitar..he has been for DECADES!! I have ALWAYS been a fan, and I ALWAYS will...
He's definitely got a digital delay going, and it sounds like he's using a light flange effect too. But other than that, he's just picking in a really interesting way and utilising different parts of the guitar to make interesting sounds.
