Whenever this song plays from nowhere I remembered playing with my first puppy dog (Muttley) by the lake all the time.. Until she grew up and passed away 6 years ago. And every time this song plays I just stop and reminisce those days , never have a another dog ever since..........because it hurts. Thanks Mr. D. Gray for bringing up the memories.....
Sorry about your dog but as one dog lover to another, get another if possible. All the years of love you share with them somehow makes it worth the terrible time when they leave you.

saw David Gray in 2000 at the Hammersmith Odean in London, and though I've been to a great many concerts by various artists in my time, that cocert was by far the best live performance I have ever seen. The purity and sheer power of this man's voice is a wonder to behold. If you haven't seen him and you get the chance, just go, you will not regret it.
David Gray is in my top 3 favorite artists of all time, along with Damien Rice and Paolo Nutini and I happen to be 17. But then again, I guess I just enjoy music with a full heart behind its meaning. =]
Love this song. But it always makes me cry. I sure do love the way he sings. I always have loved songs that tell stories. I heard this song in Walmart for the first time. Have loved it since that day 10 years ago. Thank you Mr Gray.
I swear I heard Babylon as a kid and I had a version that was acoustic, then years later I rediscovered this lost song and the original sounded nothing like the one I'd heard. I'm still in search of the acoustic version I'd heard. I'll know it when I hear it

I like David Gray, Damien Rice and Paolo Nutini among others too. I got to see David Gray in concert in April in the 3d row he was awesome on concert! The video with him and Annie Lennox is Great too!

'there she was standing there in front of me", AND SHE WAS. iT WAS NOT 2009 it was two months ago. I missed her so much, why did I never lesson to the end of the song. I was living the rest of it. Happy things don't always happen in just fairy tales an of knights of old. We do win sometimes. JUst have to wait to the end of the story. keep breathing the happiness comes..
