He has a replica .. of the car . I do believe though he has the dash that was used on screen . Most of the few remaining screen used cars , are owned by collectors .
What a nice car! This show didn't last becuz NBC said they couldn't afford to keep adding new equipment to KITT due to the low ratings. I don't believe that there were low ratings. People loved the car, loved the show, and still want it back on tv. I bet if they asked David Hasselhoff to remake the show they would probably could afford to keep KITT programmed lol. It would sure be nice to see this show with the old car in my generation.
Nice KITT replica and Knight Rider collectibles. I have the rare Knight Rider Big Wheel. It's missing the little motorcycle windshield, but other than that, it's complete. I'm still in the process of restoring it to look as it did new with the Knight Rider decals on it. I had the KITT pedal car growing up as a kid, but never got the big wheel until 2 years ago...found one on craigslist that a girl saved from when she was little. Lucky me! =)
When he got in and spoke to the mic - 'KITT, KITT eh it's me Michael' I was just blown away with nostalgic emotion.... Not for long though.. :P Gosh I wish I had an un-modified Firebird and then a KITT converted Firebird to show off to everybody....
You're lucky to have met the Hoff. I've met John Schneider, Tom Wopat, and most of the cast from Dukes. My main dream is to meet Hasselhoff one day and sit in KITT with him. That's just, oh, a dream man!
From what I understand, David owned one of the cars used in the production of the show, but some years later, it was sold it at auction. The car in question is part of a museum which owns a collection of cars seen in various TV and movie productions.
He sold it to a Turkish guy at the auction, which makes me proud as a Turk :) www.newsmax.com/TheWire/david-hasselhoff-knight-rider-kitt-sell/2014/05/28/id/573686/
GrnArrow092 Wonder if it was that guy in the U,K, who owned a big collection of movie and t,v, cars? He ran a museum for visitors to come and see all the cars, His museum/show was called CARS OF THE STARS. He even had the original Ford Falcon xb from the Mad-Max movie. I think the guy died not long ago though, and his wife sold the collection off. The Mad-Max car went to Florida in America i think. I actually live only a few miles away from where he had the museum. But i wasn't aware of it until after the cars were sold off. Can't believe i had the chance to see the real mad max car in person, but didn't know it until it was too late.
(Year 2019) Micheal: Hey K.I.T.T., its me Micheal. Car's voice: I apologize for the confusion Mr. Knight, but K.I.T.T.'s is no longer here. I came to replace your former A.I., by the way... you may call me J.A.R.V.I.S.
I am the voice of the Knight Industries Two Thousands microprocessor, K.I.T.T for an easy reference, and KITT if you prefer.. VS I am the Knight Automated Roving Robot, KARR if you prefer, I am the prototype of the car of the future..
