As an athlete, i have broken my little toe before, depending on the break it can hurt like hell. I could barely walk for a week and took 5 weeks to feel somewhat normal. People have to remember Haye pulled out of the first Klitchko fight with an injury. To do it twice would have made him out to be a coward. Would it have been worse than the image of him now? i don't know. But i think he got beat by the better boxer. But to the trolls out there, enter the ring. Then you'll respect these two more
i have been a boxing fan for 50 years and i have never felt such disgust for a fighter before all the carrying on by this haye thiing i cannoot bring myself to calling it a man .this thing masquerading as a boxer earned ten million pounds for fighthing with his mouth when one of the best fighters of all time ricardo lopez earned less than two milliion dollars for over 30 title fights and over 80 fiights undefeated 'it makes me sick . this frauds purse should be givento charity.
The truth is most British fighters don't win WBC/WBA/IBF titles. If they do win a title then they tend not to hold them for long eg Bruno, Stracey, McGuigan, Buchanan, Minter OR they don't unify or avoid fighting the very best men in the world eg Watt. Hamed. I respect David Haye for unifying his division and fighting the very best men in the world. Thats why I would rate him highly amongst all time British fighters. A points decision loss to the reigning World Champion is no disgrace...
I think people are being unfair to D Haye. The last time we saw a fight of these proportions with an ex cruiserweight versus a 6'5" heavyweight with Manny Steward in his corner was Holyfield vs Lewis. Think about how ineffective the great Holyfield was, especially in the first fight. And as Manny Steward has stated; Lewis took far more chances, then the safety first Wladimer.
he said that at 3:45!!! pay attention sir ppl outside boxing dont understand, its not like football where u can play next week and get subbed by someone just as good! shows are huge and preps for months. injuries do affect performances for sure, otherwise stevie me would have 50 appearances in a red shirt. i think he can do it cos klits are ageing, he needs to go for vitali first for confidence and then go for wlad reminding him of corrie sanders along the way
The reason why he even mentioned the toe was to use it as an excuse. If he REALLY wanted to give Wlad full credit for the win he wouldn't have mentioned the toe at all. He gave Wlad credit but at the same time tried to plant that seed of doubt in people's mind by using the toe as a reason why he performed so poorly. Read between the lines.
I don't think u guys who are talking bad about Haye actually saw the fight. It was close and both were playing it safe and the margins in the score were suspiciously large between the two fighters in favor or Wlad, which sounded like a whole bunch of BS. Love him/hate him, I don't think Haye was in anyway "outclassed" by any of you posers saying that, & I don't think there was anyway in hell the scores had such a gap the way the did in the end. Haye knew it and had class and congratulated Wlad.
I believe you Haye. I remmember watching this fight with alot of ppl at my friends house. We all wanted and knew Haye could do so much more then he did. It is what it is though. I still support and respect Haye though.
david haye just said it was a factor - not THE factor. besides he already admitted sometimes that wladimir klitschko was the better boxer. so get your facts straight, dude!
toe? did he say toe? what fighter goes into a fight 100%? that is unheard of, of all injuries you can have going into a fight a toe injury has to be least worrying one
I don't believe Haye's lame excuse for a second. If he really did hurt his toe to the point that it'd affect him during the biggest fight of his life, his management would surely have postponed the fight a week or so. If all Haye can do is make excuses whenever he loses, then he never deserved to be a champ at all!
@BriarRoseX Chisora, spat in Wladimirs face which was out of order. Haye gives it plenty of mouth before fights, but the fight with Chisora I think is the first time it's gone any further.
I already told you, Haye doesn't hold a candle to either Klitschko brother. I'll ask you again..who do you think is a more talented/more successful fighter?
Alright Haye knows he was outclassed but you have to remember haye's natural weight is cruiser, alot lighter than klitchko, so atleast he had the bollox to give it a go. The only reason he went up a weight was because he ruled the whole cruiserwight scene.
@NazhitsREALLYHARD You can't distort the fact that Haye was an undisputed World Champion, something which Hamed never was. There is no such thing as a pound for pound champion. Thats purely opinion. Haye won the WBA title and then knocked out the WBC/IBF holder in his home town. He then KO'd the WBO holder for good measure, before going up in weight + becoming a world champion again, something Hamed never did. Being a WBO champion meant that Hamed often avoided the top fighters in his era
It wasn't tysons trash talk that got him noticed, it was his explosive speed and power, he knocked out his first 19 opponents, 13 in the first round, all in the space of his first 14 months as a pro.
Wavers back and forth between giving Wlad credit and making excuses. I guess every man has a shot to redeem himself, look what Ortiz is done, but he might just want to go straight to Hollywood.
DO YOU REALLY THINK THIS FOOL WOULD EVEN SAY ONE GOOD WORD FOR KLITSCHKO IF HE DIDMANAGED TO DEFEAT WLAD FOR SOME MIRACULOUS WAY? I DONT THINK SO, I BELIEVE HE WOULD HAVE ADDED MORE INJURY TO THE MAN'S EMOTION FOR THE SIMPLE FACT THAT HIS ATTITUDE BEFORE THE FIGHT IS HIS REAL PERSONALITY IN REAL LIFE. HE LOST BECAUSE THAT WAS HIS LIMIT HE WILL NEVER CHANGE IF DOES NOT RETIRE SOMEONE PERHAPS NOT THE KLITSCHKO WILL SURELY TEACH HIM MORE HUMILITY THAN HE CAN EVER LIVE FOR
@NazhitsREALLYHARD Britain had very few undisputed Champions, much less an undisputed champion who went on to win a WBC/WBA/ IBF title at another weight. Buchanan won the lightweight title+ lost it after a year, as did McGuigan. Hamed won the IBF title+ but for most of his career defended the lightly regarded WBO title. as did Calzaghe, Benn+ Eubank. Honeyghan won the welterwight title but no other belt. Unlike David Haye none of these men won another WBC/WBA/IBF title at another weight.
he looked poor against wladimirs but id still like to see haye fight again because he still is a entertaining fighter in a boring heavy weight division run by the klitshchkos
Yes I do think it's about how exciting a boxer is as it's an entertainment sport and at no point did I say he was bad so of course I wouldn't spar him, believe it or not boring and bad mean different things and I called him boring.
I scored the fight a daw. I do not see why Haye had to knock out the giant, or he losses, but the giant that spoils his way to a points decision has a clear victory without landing anything more than a shit jab...bullshit. Haye should fight on, if only to shut up the media who seem hellbent on dragging him through the shit.
@999grime no you dont pull out on the biggest boxing fight in 10 years, when you pulled out last time...when its only a little toe, when yo have to reschedule a football stadium with the new season only weeks away...when you have have a numbing shot etc etc you just dont do that,
wow, the guy looked more pathetic than he did in the fight, which i thought wasn't possible. he's spent the majority of this morning hopping between different tv channels and radio stations giving the same excuses. as one of his biggest fans i would like to advise him to retire, because there is no way he will ever fight a world title again, especially if the klitschkos are still champions.
@NazhitsREALLYHARD David Haye, like Carl Froch decided he wanted the best belts and he will fight the best fighters in their territory if neccessary to win them. For doing that and winning he should be ranked ahead of most of the British fighters. Hamed was a very heavy puncher but well beaten by Barrera + finished at 27. You sound like one of those people who can't articulate themselves without becoming abusive+ only feel brave enough to call people names hidden behind your computer..
@EsaulRuss Although I'm a Haye supporter but I agree with you. At a football(soccer) trial I continued and played great although I damaged my ankle on the day which means Haye could have probably ignored his toe injury.
@lokju The opposite is the case. You are blinded by your Klitschko hate. Haye may have PARTLY succeeded in neutralizing Klitschkos offense, but was not able to mount any himself. Running circles and getting jabbed in the face doesnt win you fights in the real world.
lets face it, neither fighter hurt each other. neither took great chances. wlad won by points, he didn't win his satisfaction. and i dont t hink Haye ran, he took many risks leaping in with big shots, Wlad rarely even threw a right hand
NOT only doesn't Haye man up to admit that Klitschko outfought him in their match-up, but he adds insult to injury by pathetically using a broken right pinky toe as an excuse for not having his Hayemaker at his disposal. During Vlad's defeat of Lamon Brewster on 7 July 2007 he fought most of the six-round fight with a broken middle finger on his left hand, yet never complained of it. Our only real regret with this bout is that Haye didn't fall victim to the Steelhammer to become Vlad's 50th KO.
He's not dealing with the pain by being constantly on pain medication. He's putting band aids over the pain. Acupuncture & time to heal is what he needs. But that's only if he didn't come up with such BS. His toe? Come on! Take your loss. This cat's a joke, throw 'em to the curb. I was hoping with all his talk he'd have done more. Oh well.
i think they should just put Haye aginst Vitali Klitschko so both brothers can shut this guy up once and for all,Haye is not bad but hes just not up to The Klitschoko's level.
I wanna see a rematch. I watched the fight again and i was a actually a lot closer than I thought the first time I saw it live. Haye got his tactics wrong, but if he landed his signature, could have been different. He looked good at Upton Park as well.
All Haye cares about is money. A rematch wouldn't cause nowhere near as much interest. Only Haye vs Vitali would cause some interest, cause a lot of people would like to see Haye get KO'd.
Parents should show their kids this video and other interviews of Haye on how NOT to act. To watch a man and professional boxer complain about his pinky toe is truly pathetic and proof of poor character. Only a delusional person would talk extensively about such an injury. This interview was done days after the fight and he had the opportunity to recollect and compose himself and still he's talking about his broken pinky toe!! It's a crime that Haye received tens of millions for this fight!
Courage, words and balls have to be backed by action. People have to know their limit and be prepared to swallow their pride. This man doesn't know that he was above his limit.
@NazhitsREALLYHARD I am talking the facts. You may claim the Cruiserweight division was Rubbish. Mermeck was the WBC/IBF holder + Haye knocked him out in his home town. You can only beat the best men out there + If it was so easy why have not every other cruiserweight unified moved up+ won a major heavyweight title? Haye is prepared to go anywhere+ fight the top men in the world which is more than eg Calzaghe who wouldn't leave Wales much less the UK for most of his career...
Haye is full of hot air. What a disappointing performance... and then he starts complaining about his toe! What a looser. "I need another [painkiller] shot" - a complete collapse of respect for him
Bad toe or not Wladimer fought a superb fight and Hayes tactics were wrong going in. Hayes excuse was badly timed especially with the trash-talking he did, but Wlads reaction to that was a little hypocritical... remember the poisoned vaseline that made him quit against Brewster? I think a fight against Vitali would be interesting, Vitali takes far more chances, and i think he has 'Enry Cooper scar tissue, which should be identified as one of the few weaknesses Vitali has.
how can you call him a sore loser when he says that the toe was not the reason he lost. He admits that Wladimir was better so please, give the man some props. he did better against Wlad than most people do and if Wlad gives him a rematch we will find out if the toe played any part in it.
@hordichuck 6'8? You must be talking about Vitali. Looks like your getting your Klitchkos confused. Wlad's always been slim, even in his Olympic medal days in the 90's. Get your facts straight sir.
I've heard him say in this interview that the toe was NOT an excuse and that he lost fairly and squarely. I'm not quite sure where he wasn't "a man" about it. he didn't dodge any questions or make any excuses. regardless of what you think about him as a fighter, he owned up to everything honestly here. maybe you didn't actually watch this properly.
@TheTubestud Klitsko didn't do everything he said. He said he was going to punish Haye for 12 rounds then knock him out in the last. That didn't happen.
@NazhitsREALLYHARD Whether Haye is better than most of those guys is OPINION. Personally I think he is. Whether he achieved more in terms of winning and defending WBC/WBA/IBF world championships is FACT. Hamed was a talented fighter. But what great fights of the 90s was he involved in?. The best featherweights in his era were Barrera+Morales. When Hamed fought Barrera he was soundly beaten. Also unlike Barrera, Morales or even David Haye he never won titles at different weights
@999grime he said many times he has to make himself hate the boxers he goes in to the ring with in order to have that killer instinct. This was just another example. Thats how HIS psychology works he did it with every fighter.. this time the build up lasted so long there was alot of it doesnt bother me but bothers you....different strokes for different folks
David Haye is in great physical condition, well trained, hard puncher, knows boxing real good, achieved a lot in boxing, but when it came down to fight a real fight, ???
Really? Does he wear 6 inch platforms when he fights? Wladimir is not 6th 12" (sic) .. and that's 7ft. You smell that? It's BS and it's coming out of your mouth.
@ItsBiwiPwice I found the fight boringly shit because Haye promised he'd do something different. Instead he waited like in the Valuev fight (who btw, has little skill as seen in those 15 rounds) for WK to come at him and try and win on points. Fact is WK is an animalr, a league above Haye so his plan of staying back and trying to win on counterpunching made the fight shit. Yes Ali and Tyson did trash talk to SOME degree but they did it in a classy manner, not taking it too that extent...
lol just like he was going to "kill" Wladimir, like all you Biritish fanboys predicted... wanna know the different between Wlad and Vitali? 1) No matter how hard Haye hits, he can't hurt VItali 2) He can't run from Vitali like he did against Wladimir because Vitali is aggressive and will charge, swing, hit, and drop him.
@Emxon ur right m8 its all tactics, same with hes "running" u dont win a fight with stronger and taler guy by running into his arms to crush u , u need to evade, and ffs Haye was evading da fook, shame he couldnt pass Klitschkos defense , coz it would be Haye with all da belts now :)
@999grime And he admits that. He says he talked the talk but didn't walk the walk. Whoe says taht after a fight? Allmost evry fighter has some excuse after losing a fight.
