Join Dr David Hirsch an American librarian, globe trotter and a linguist,
as he explores how comics in the Arab world have a rich and diverse
history that spans several decades. They have served as a medium for
storytelling, artistic expression, and cultural reflection in the region.
Throughout the years, Arab comics have explored a wide range of
themes, from social and political issues, to fantasy and science fiction,
providing a unique platform for artists to engage with their audience.
Some are translations of American, Japanese and French comics and
some are original Arabic publications. Arab comics make significant
contributions to the global comic book industry while maintaining their
unique regional identity.
Hosted by: Gabrielle Adlestone, former teacher and magistrate.
