Not Applicable there’s plenty of old timey stuff being released by younger musicians. It doesn’t radio play because it isn’t a guarantee that everyone will like it. Radio stations are businesses. It’s the same reason classic rock stations play only ten led zeppelin songs when that band made ten albums full of great songs. The radio only plays guaranteed hits, they don’t take chances and it’s boring.

@capitalismforme I agree with you - with rare exceptions I don't like much of what Nashville is producing these days but it's logical that $$ dictates what is produced. If the old styles were what the public demanded then more of that type of music would be made. In fact, it is being made under the "alt country" label but you never see that kind of music on the charts. Country evolves, like most genres do, although Bluegrass seems to be the same now as it was decades ago, but that is a separate discussion.

thank you. I think those magic moments are happening all around us all the time. I continue to find them now that I live in California. Levittown was a creative place because so many of the folks came from families that were just coming into the middle class from life in the inner city surrounded by their ethnic groups. California is the birthplace of creativity, ( after ( New York City ) of course ! For so many ! Once again, you have the talented folks, and the $$$ to implement the ideas ! The perfect catalyst to make the magic happen ! By the way David, I would still be very interested in talking to you more about your early 16mm Industrial ed films. If you are interested in possibly letting a few of them to a good home, I would be very interested !

I would love to do it Pearl but I am not a writer. If I had the time and the money, I'd make a documentary… on me. Not because of ego issues but because I think I could contribute a lot to the younger generations with the stories I have to share. David Hoffman-filmmaker

You may not be a writer, but you're a great film maker, so l guess a documentary would be the next best thing. You must have had an incredible life n your stories would be invaluable as well as entertaining to young people. You're a humble n wise man.... Keep up the good work. If l ever win the lottery, l will finance your documentary 😊

🚫🚫 Since at least as far back as the 80s, recording studios have had the ability to deceptively make untalented musicians and bands sound SUPER-talented! They can literally pull a random non-musician off the street, hand the person a guitar for the 1st time in his or her life, then quickly teach them to play single notes, one at a time, stopping in between each and every note, to show them the next note(rinse & repeat 100+ times), then they can edit and paste all the single, stop-&-go notes together into what will "appear" to be a seamless lead guitar solo, making it sound as if the non-musician had played a long, impressive guitar solo with perfect timing and zero mistakes! It can easily be done with ANY instrument, and ANY untalented noob! In other words, they can deceptively make ANYONE sound like a seasoned musician on ANY instrument! They can make an entire band of non-musicians sound like the most talented band ever! 😈😏

There were several legendary session groups in that era, The Nashville A team, the Wrecking Crew, the Funk Brothers at Motown, the Swampers in Muscle Shoals and Booker T and the MGs in Memphis, just to name the most well known ones. What was really amazing about those groups was not just how good they were but how fast they could work and create. Some of these guys would be playing on several different sessions in one day and often when they got to the studio was the first time they heard the song/demo at all.

I heard Charlie talk about that in an interview. He said he was only supposed to play on a song or two. When his song or two was done, he said he started packing up his stuff and Dylan said, "Hey where is Charlie going?" Dylan saw to it that Charlie played on the rest of the stuff, too.
