The point of this isn't to feel sad for him. It's to see how much Dan and David appreciate how he's moved past that to figure out who he really wants to be in the face of something we'd all consider insurmountable. Don't pity him, guys. Celebrate him.

Why would anyone pity him? he chose this life because he enjoys it, i'm pretty sure he was aware of the possible consequences, and it was still worth it for him. Pity would be if he was forced into the job and had an accident on the first go, not for someone who has spent years thriving.

I was a very active person on my way to becoming a wildlife journalist when I became disabled at 26 due to a genetic disorder. It’s not been an easy road, but I’ve learned so much. David saying he used to wrap his identity in his work, until he was forced to be present in life, resonated with me. I’ve felt the same. I cannot wait to see this film!

Absolutely, yes. !t that moment when he said he was more present in life now hit home with me, as well. I had a TBI almost six years ago that changed everything. I found my 'be still' time instrumental in teaching me more about who I am at the core of me, once all the labels I used to identify myself were stripped away. This will hopefully be a powerful film, full of hope and potential for those who haven't grasped that yet.

I read your comment and mentally chastised myself because I hadn’t realised until now - you are completely right. There is no category for stunt doubles yet there absolutely should be! This documentary was so inspiring and heartbreaking. I am (or was) a yoga teacher and choreographer who broke 4 vertebrae just 7 weeks ago, on bed rest recovering, this story hit me hard. I am not paralyzed but I disabled now and struggling to come to terms with this new reality. Praying that there will be some sort of magical healing for spinal cord injury. David you are so strong and inspiring. Making the most of a horrible accident.
@Pain4yourmind
@Pain4yourmind 10 месяцев назад
He is an amazingly positive guy and very mentally resilient. The only problem for me was the aftermath of the accident especially regards legal prosecution and monetary payout. I get that he said in the documentary that he was not going to press charges because he didn’t want anyone to receive blame or lose their jobs and thats amazingly honourable, but in honesty that doesn’t matter because UK Health and Safety will do a full investigation and place the blame accordingly. Also surly with all the money Warner bros made from the films they would have paid out on top of the basic insurance even for moral reasons alone. None of that made sense and they never clarified any of it in the documentary which was strange

Something said in this and an underlying message stood out to me. 1 was when Dan was talking about the awkward period after the accident and 2 how it seems overall they as a group gave everyone the time they needed whether that was 2 weeks or 10 yrs (the stunt director) Yes something like this is absolutely horrible for the person injured but there is an unspoken fear in the friends and family how they deal with it. Can you make it past the awkward stage, do you need extra time, or sadly if this is the point you have to bow out because something about the situation your just not capable of getting over it. a drastic change like this has a ripple effect and most only care how the injured party takes it but never look at the rest of the people also bobbing around in the waves caused by the accident.

Daniel Ratcliffe was my stuntman. I grew up slightly before he did, re-reading Frank Peretti's This Present Darkness, Piercing The Darkness, Prophet, and The Oath multiple times (Piercing & Prophet being my favorites). And I had a few friends who had experiences - mostly positive - that went even deeper in the biblical direction than even Perretti. I always examined logical & biblical & evidential veracity in the back of my mind. We shared much in confidence. And I was often listening to the Christian artistry of the era, and meshing it all with a "Lean On Me" type of outlook on life - you know, the Morgan Freeman movie. 1992 - 2000 were some interesting times, tho schoolish times that I would not want to relive. And the author of the Harry Potter franchise - didn't she begin writing it at the Nicholson Pub or something in the early '90's? I grew up in the 80's - 2000s living on Nicholson Road. Long story. I'll tell it sometime, but of course not like this. I've wanted to be a fiction writer and poet since I was 11. Reality keeps stealing me from my fictional forays, these days. (Haven't even tried to achieve it yet - too busy living, reading, learning! (I remember some refreshing aspects to the 1992 pro-life movement that you wouldn't know, but put everything even in a more freeing, vivid, pro-life direction but from an entirely different angle. Including some spiritual experiences and just wild stuff with others from different backgrounds.) Things that are worth living for, are worth living for. And worth telling & discussing with open mind and heart (that is also open to logic, human reasons, freedom, and the time it takes to grow). If you made it this far reading this post, Cheers!😄 RUMBLE on, post-G0g. Let's get to Revelation 20:11 together and open the books. OBI (Open Bible Individualism) - that's my address. Jesus Reigns. I believe - and belief is still a journey of growth as I have learned - as a neighbor to the hard ways (is there an easy way to learn?) There is hope for better tomorrow - Mises, the Bible, the Bill Of Rights and the Abraham Accords (yea I'm one of those people) taken TOGETHER are a good and thoughtful historical & intellectual foundation for beginning any journey, life, family, future, or neighborhood civic. Here's to beating back Satan so that we may enjoy Freedom Of Voluntary Persuasion And Individual Opinion out in the open, everywhere. I wonder what Hogwarts would say bout that?

So cross-promoting a toxic fantasy franchise over the life-altering injury caused to The British Stunt Register performer as the insanely-monopolistic WarnerMedia getting even larger as Warner Bros Discovery continues to drag its feet over their counterparts in AFTRA, eh? Can soupbrains who contribute to the urban-legend/-myth that this network is _the_ creative haven have it in them to raise their hands, pronto?

I had the pleasure of meeting and being around David he is the most polite and respectful lad of his age you could ever meet always happy-go-lucky an inspiration as he is still today think he is the only young lad I ever looked up to and still do today with all he had to cope he is still a legend today

Dan is one of the most wholesome people on the planet. David Bradley (who played Filch) had this wonderful story where he and his wife had invited school kids over to the Potter set (it was some sort of project that David's wife was doing) and Dan learned all the kids' names so that he could later send them all a personalized letter. Bradley's says Dan didn't have to do it, but did do it anyways.

I had no idea that this happened until I watched this trailer. Wow. Such an inspiring story to tell. So glad Daniel will be also producing this documentary. I won’t miss it.

Just watched this and felt tons of emotion. Dave really has such a great light about him even though he's been through so much. He's a true inspiration.

Just watched this film and I found it incredibly touching! For those of us who continue to have to isolate due to increased long-covid risk once society stopped masking and caring about vulnerable people, life seems so incredibly hard right now. There's so much temptation to give up on life after it slides our dreams into the ditch! I so much appreciate the strength that David Holmes shows. He could've wallowed in pity and asked to be euthanized when he could no longer live what mattered most in his life... but instead, he found new ways to be happy and to love and help those around him, even while his body continues to cause him so much pain. Truly glad Daniel Radcliffe put in the effort to tell his friend's worthwhile story! Thank you!
