+Tiago Martinho I have also noticed (which greatly annoys me) people who say, "right?" at the end of every sentence. Once I discover this during a discussion, I simply cannot focus on the material, rather think to myself - They are going to say "right", They are going to say "right", They are going to say "right".
It is very telling when Horowitz calls a better argument than his own boring. How blindingly obvious that Horowitz's argument, at it's foundation, is really why one group should have preference over another group. And this underlying belief is a Religious one. "God gave us this land, this land belongs to us because because Allah gave it to us." When college students put professors to shame it is time to retire the professor. Thousands of people are being killed, and millions displaced because of this "boring" argument. People are waking up to the disgusting tyranny that Israel is conducting it's policies with USA's money, approximately $15,000 per year per Israeli citizen.
Israel has tried a two state solution. It's the Palestinians who are not complying. Learn something Andy, lest you show the intelligence of the student in the video you just watched.
"Like, it's insidious, like right? It's kinda like ya know, yeah?" This object has actually gotten into a university...God help us. I doubt she could even spell 'insidious' the same way twice...
+RickyMortus Piss off. I'm a millennial as well, And I work long days in a chemical plant. To go home to my rural property, wife and kid. I dont say, "like, like, like... " and hold my phone all day. You appear as a small minded asshat making generalizations like that. People of your ilk are the problem regardless of what side of the coin you claim to be on. In perspective, your view of claiming absolute likeness simply because of some large encompassing term like millennials an entire generation of people. Is exactly the same as the black lives matter crowd lumping all police together just because there are some jerk offs out there who never should have been given a badge. Oh and news flash, some of the worst offenders at my work of never putting the dam phone down are the boomers, who just cant seem to get enough of facebook and candy crush.
One would hope that social natural selection weeds her out and places her where she belongs (door greeter at wal mart) but we all know someone will hire her simply out of keeping up their quotas.
+Dieter H. It's partly because they have no evidence to prove their ideas. They just shut out everyone who disagrees with them. BUT when you go right to their faces and demand that they clearly explain their point, they stumble and stutter more than any drunkard I've heard.
+largol33t1 Or they get aggressive. I've dealt with many leftis in Germany called Antifa myself. Brains are missing with these people. I was surprised that such a well-known professor would say the same things I say for years.
+john millr Seriously! I respect the differnce between Fact/opinion and peoples right to opinions. But when they sound like this dumbass, I start think their opinions are worthless and consequently don't give a .... about what they are attemting to say!
+skylar martin yep and it's really not her opinion this is clearly the characteristics of someone that has been brainwashed and they are trying to remember the ship that they are trying to recite that's why she kept stuttering because she doesn't have her own original thoughts to begin with
+panzermarche Yes, some of them, and those are the ones that the leftists love to bitch about "making too much money" _because_ they graduated and became successful.
+eljono1 I just started studying and I think that the smarter the student, the less he or she will join some stupid groups where everybody is just agreeing with what everybody is saying.
True. Hence the word "Salem", because it was limited to the city of Salem in MA. Might have occurred elsewhere, but it was extremely limited. Like most "famous" events in history, this is one that has been romanticized and blown out of proportion. Probably preaching to the choir here, but had to agree with you. :)
Even better the Salem Witch Trials were about 80 years before the Founding Father's sought independence. Meaning the Virginia (?) George Washington was not even born.
+Sid Debgupta Superficial ... those firing from US drones are not in uniforms. His answer that the founding fathers weren't religious fanatics is really poor....and then he just calls her "communist", "boring" and says it should be saved for an event organised by a man who lost his whole family in the Holocaust. Some professor !! He's a propagandist, not a techer and an ex-Trotskyist (he gives that away with his Trotsky quote).
+ProperGanderSaul that isn't the point. She doesn't understand why she asks the question. She is not programmed to think. She is programmed from her mosque / madrassa: she is told what to think.
She got so little right in that rant. The lack of historical correctness is making my skin crawl. If this disease of ignorance spreads, America and the west are doomed.
andy rogers She's commenting on past events that have been skewed and most of what is taught on the crusades and such are either twisted to be partially false or just completely false. Also she started on one topic and started ranting on into another topic like it made sense. Her rant made absolutely no sense.
This is really common these days, in particular when it comes to issues related to Islam. I don't know how but the idea that because Christians did X 500 years ago then Muslims should be allowed to do that today has become a legitimate argument for the left. It's beyond insanity.
Her point is completely facile. The founding Fathers were about 100 years after the Witch Trials. People constantly say that they were either Protestant or Atheist and nearly none, if any, were Puritan. Yes we fought Guerrilla Warfare, but we were justified and we eventually had a uniformed volunteer army.
The biggest difference is that the west Isn't trying to invade and occupy the Middle East there trying to liberate and install a government of the people's choosing, if America was trying to take over Iraq so they could colonise and force the public to pay tax to them then she might have a little more of an argument.
This is so sad and I'm sure this young woman believes in what she says as she has learned in school. So so sad we dont even teach an honest history anymore
You mean the same honestly that comes with making blanket statements and straw-manning people by labeling them all "Communists"? If that's the "honesty" you're looking for, it's completely bereft in David Horowitz.
David Horowitz mentioned that she probably got it from a book, and I think he may have said where it came from but I didn't hear it well, maybe because my speakers are off ... .
AtheistWanderer Nope, this girl is definitely spouting off communism. Maybe you need to go to a school, probably not UCSD because it's gone to hell, and learn about government. Especially if you're going to go online and talk about it. I wouldn't go online and talk about political science or psychology without knowing the topic well first. Otherwise, consider yourself someone that needs to learn. Is it really so bad to not know everything, yet? Or do you not hunger for knowledge, you just hate Jews? Regarding fallacy, that you may or may not know that you've engaged in now, you've committed Ad Hominem ... . Yes, it's time for you to get your learning up to par. Islam includes Socialism, but it's a waste of time to call it that because it's actually Fascism. Islam is a Fascist Theocracy to be exact.
Could not get past the first minute. She speaks English, but has no idea how moronic she sounds by inflections and improper use of words.. She, unfortunately is not that unusual for her generation.
+raleighman3000 I know too many SJW just like her and they are so self righteous in their thinking it is insane to hear them talk. I have wanted to strangle a few just to silence them.
Huh? As a Canadian I'm no expert, but the founding fathers of US just decided to seperate from the Brits but were met with resistance. So it was the Brits causing the problems. But to make common ground it's fair to say US marginalized natives.(witch hunting is a bad point.) But that is quite natural when a more civilized people travel to new lands. Sad for natives, but hell it happens all to often in history. But they definitely did not have genocidal tendencies. Does any of her point have even the slightest merit?
are they still awesome when they massacred native americans .... or when they brought african from their homes reducing them to salves in order to keep on their states
i am ignorant you should open a book and read it obviously you are one of those americans who support their white suppremacy..... slavery was abolished before american slavery.... read the bible, thora or Coran and finds the question of slavery. this a message From france , from Paris
This is what leftist dhimmis do. They turn hatred inwards towards themselves, their countries & their cultural history. Then they use it to excuse terrorism against their communities. I guarantee not one of them will have had a leg blown off by a suicide bomber. They speak with the ignorance of priveledge & believe they have all the answers. Capitulation just encourages the bully.
It's not weed that fucks a human mind like that. A weed high is more like drinking too much cough syrup. This girl's on an I diet. Ignorance, poured on malevolence, and covered in honey. Wanna be NOT HELPING.... because that girl gets to send you off to retrieve the honey... from a Africanized Honeybee nest..... AKA KILLER BEES. OONLY DENEGRATION AND EJECTION WILL THWART ISLAMOPHILIA IN NORTH AMERICA.... OR DO YOU ENJOY COMMUNISMS ??
And the founding fathers were not "Puritans". And the revolution was secular in nature, not religious. Most would certainly identify themselves as christian of some denomination or another (some were deist). But people ought to be intelligent enough to see the fallacy in equating two groups of people based on them sharing the broad attributes of being religous and fighting an armed conflict. The nature of the religion, the nature of the conflict and the way the two inter-relate may be vastly different. As is the case when comparing the American Revolution with Al-Qaida.
Wow. She is SCARY. A college student, who has no clue WHAT she's even taking abut, and, as others have mentioned. Every other 'word's' an 'uh, um, like... Make college 8 years.
She went from the Founding Fathers to the Puritans and Witch trials. They're not equivalent. The "Founding Fathers" were fighting to maintain their own land independently of England. They were paying taxes to a king and receiving nothing but his virtual beneficence. The king of England didn't like that, so he sent his Redcoats to impose his will. The colonists, including the so-called Founding Fathers, were tired of the king imposing his will, so they fought back with everything they had in order to gain their independence. Did that include hiding armaments in schools, churches, individual homes? Perhaps. But if the colonists didn't do everything in their power to repel the British forces, they would remain under British rule and, once having rejected the king's taxes, would wind up worse off than before. Lots of them would be killed for treason. Then there's Hamas, which hides armaments in schools, mosques (in lieu of churches), hospitals, and individual homes. Who's the attacking force that they're repelling? British Redcoats? IDF? No, the IDF didn't send in ground forces until hundreds if not thousands of missiles had been fired from Gaza into Israel. Israel was fortune to have the Iron Dome, which saved thousands of lives. But having the Iron Dome doesn't excuse the unprovoked launching of missiles at Israel. They were firing randomly, and it didn't matter what was hit. From Hamas' perspective, the more Israeli deaths, the better. Finally, the IDF sent in ground forces, something they wanted to avoid. Israel held back at first. It didn't immediately retaliate because they wanted to avoid Palestinian civilian deaths as much as possible. Israel showed great restraint to not immediately retaliate. But you can sit idly and be attacked for only so long. Eventually, Israel had to respond and, quite sadly, many Palestinian civilians lost their lives. But that's not even as sad as one irrefutable fact - had Hamas allowed Palestinian civilians to vacate the areas where armaments were stored, far fewer deaths would have occurred. Hamas literally coerced the Palestinians to show solidarity by not leaving. In truth, Hamas didn't care about loss of civilian life. They just wanted to plant themselves among civilians so that Israel would think twice about responding, knowing that Israel - far more than Hamas - values human life. The woman who spoke had an agenda, but it was the agenda of a child.
"like, same page, like omg like the page we're like on is like the same, so like that's like good that the like page which we are both like on is like the same."
I am a college history instructor and the way he handled this issue is disgraceful. He could have turned this into a learning opportunity, and instead he accuses her of communist thinking. It is the purpose of a university to help students learn to think critically, but they must be taught to do so. What he has done is the the same thing as when people legitimately criticize Islamic countries for human rights violations and are accused of being "Islamophobic". This effectively shuts down all conversations and prevents a true dialogue on social justice issues. He could easily have explained to her that our founding fathers were not Puritans and that even 150 years before George Washington's day, they did not represent the totality of the colonial mindset. He could also have explained that our patriots may have waged guerrilla warfare, but that it was on British soldiers and not anyone of a particular race or religion that they could get their hands on. The whole situation could have been handled with more maturity. He is an adult speaking from a place of knowledge and power, so it is his responsibility to help this girl learn.
Puritans like like like they like we're like terrorists like that's like not good like we can all agree that like like that's bad right like that's bad
Her understanding of the Revolutionary War and how it was fought is badly flawed...but with the American school system and the myths of American history, I can't really blame her.
I think he missed the point. I don't wanna speak for her, but I'm sure she is not in favor of what extremists are doing at all. All countries tend to romanticize their founders. USA is not exception... Probably some of them were nasty people. The USA was able to rise above that, and arguably create the first secular state. How can we help Muslim countries do the same? That is the goal.
The founding fathers didn't hide in churches and schools and target civilians. And the founding fathers were not puritans and didn't have anything to do with witch trials. This girl is so ignorant but probably pretty representative of the student body and faculty.
wow! nice! wow that is knowledge!!! holy moly that girl was taunting a lion with meat in her hand, ouch! so many of our youths are ignorant. thank you David for the willingness to face them down. little smart asses need to be shut down once in a while!
The Salem Witch trials were before our Founding Fathers were even most likely born, and the Founding Fathers didn’t suicide bomb innocent civilians or strap bomb to babies or rebel in the name of a religious belief or directly target innocent civilians for having a different religious view.
yeesh. the american revolution was fought against soldiers. not civilians. thats the difference. thetre's nothing wrong with a guerilla type war against an overwhelming army, as long as you dont attack civilians, and dont hide among civilians.
+ranchump Also, the Puritans weren't the "founding fathers". The founding fathers didn't blow up civilians, or tried to eradicate the British. The founding fathers founded a democracy where previously a monarch ruled, they didn't try to exterminate a democratic state to replace it with a medieval theocracy.
In some ways we should have viewed Ho Chi Minh as a founding father... South Vietnam was not a real country. Over 90% North and South were to vote for Ho Chi Minh. We helped stop the elections from taking place. Was it nationalism they wanted?
So, there is possibly a time and place for non conventional army. Today's enemy which is Islamic Terrorists makes the Vietnam War seem so unnecessary. Looking back, we had tangible paths to stop the fighting....An enemy we could have worked with... At stages, we were the aggressors. We cried wolf. Now, we have the bad wolf enemy for real. It's a enemy beyond logic and morality.
Wow, as soon as he gets any comment that doesn't suits him or he cannot come back from, instaid of trying to explain or defend his pov or reason, he just shoves it on a big pile and moves on..... How professor-like!
When you're presented with a question that stupid Hessel, the smart thing to do is move on. There is no hope with people like her, and those who support the like. Hopefully you're an IQ point above the rest.
