Da Hood Through Childs Eyes
After my parents and sister immigrated to New York City from Hong Kong in 1970. They settled into an apartment of Valentines Avenue in The Bronx. During that time New York was plagued with crime, drugs and violence. As a 7-year-old Chinese American kid. My perception of the World was through the window of our 2nd floor apartment and what was played on TV. It was a dynamic contrast of kids smoking blunts and drinking 40’s to singing songs over a campfire, after an afternoon swim in the lake. Will this perception one day become a reality?
