My favorite quote from him in Fraser is when he sees Daphne and exclaims "Now I'm going to pump some iron. " and Fraser responds "Good God Niles! You don't even pump your own gas!!"
Almost every line in the entire series is solid gold, but none of it is quotable because the situations usually require elaborate setup. Or the lines are more like monologues. Sure the punchline is funny but it takes forever to get there.
This man is one of the most talented comedic actors on the planet. To think we owe his discovery to the sheer chance that he looked like a young Kelsey Grammer.
I think Hyde Pierce is one of the funniest comedians to have ever existed and I love Frasier, best sitcom with the best cast. So I want to thank everyone in frasier for making my life better, truly better :)
When Cheers was on I watched every episode and over time Frasier became my favorite character because he's the one who made me laugh the hardest. Then when Frasier had his own show, Niles was the one who made me laugh the hardest !
Dang! This was from 2006 and it's the first time I've seen it! What a gem! LOVE David Hyde Pierce! And I still consider the Niles and Daphne romance to be the best ever written (and performed) for television.
There's another one where he does a parody of La Viva Loca by Ricky Martin, also a Just for Laughs. It's on youtube but it's broken up into 2 parts and is rather fuzzy. And yes theirs was the best TV romance. Brilliant acting and writing.
After searching for YEARS I finally figured out what that lovely classical piece is: an excerpt from Joseph Haydn's String Quartet F Major, Op.3 Nr.5 :)
I love the toothy, cheek sucking grimace he does when he's being facetious or self-degrading... I wonder if that's a natural expression of his or if he's just slipping bits of his Niles character into the show...
LOL!!!! I LOVE THIS SONG!!! HIT THE COUCH, PEEPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love how he's like "uh-huh. uh-huh. uh-huh.-uh-huh. say, hows that makew you feel?"
That. Effin'. ROCKED. Go, David! Woo! Oh, man, that was good-that little dance of his was adorable, too, LOVED it. What a talented, brilliant, hilarious man.
This is one of the funniest things I've ever seen- also performed with great artistry- his changes of mimics, expressions etc, very difficult to do like that. Fantastic!!!
DANKESCHÖN!!! He spoke in my language! I never thought I'd see/hear that :D Back2topic: What a great number! And David Hyde Pierce is just wonderful :)
he is truly gifted and i am sure whatever he's got going on in his life is working for him! only when a person is being supported, he/she attains the heights!
My sister and I were squealing with delight throughout the enitire thing, but I think we broke the sound barrier when he started dancing. :D That boy is mighty fine. ~~~
What an extraordinary talent. One of the best stage actors, comedy actors, comedy writers of his generation. It's a shame that he can never quite get away from Niles in the eyes of the public.
I love when he goes : "those of you who watch Frasier know Marris is my wife on the show, those of you who don't watch Frasier, I'm not speaking to you.
