Oh this is so gorgeous 😍 I love this. Daniel is my favorite artist ever and modeling one of my lifelong passions. Is this song the coolest, or what?!! Doesn't get any hotter than this.
Daniel Johns/Silverchair per se was really beyond their years. Daniel Johns deserve all the credits as his versatility is f*ckin amazing! If he will ever need a resumé to be an artist, he is OVERQUALIFIED! Virtuoso!🙌🏻💯
@@bhaktibhakti8964 Some people, yeah... but there's a pretty great interview with Daniel Johns where he said he ran into some fan in a park, and the fan said, "Daniel?!? Frogstomp... what happened?" To which he replied, "Heaps..." Too many Silverchair fans didn't seem realize that those guys were CHILDREN when they wrote their first album, and basically released four more before they were in their mid-twenties. That's insane... think about thirteen-year-old you vs. twenty-five-year-old you, and HOLY COW what a difference! Most of their fanbase probably turned on Young Modern and were like, "Eww... what's with all the soft whiny crap?" Well... it's called emotional growth, bud...
This song simply slays! It has a whole lustful vibe, given by his voice, the lyrics and the instrumental part (really interesting sounds and the beat is sick). I also love the concept of imagery being triggered by music and the collaboration between music and fashion. It´s really inventive, i think i never saw/heard anything like it before.
Daniel Johns has so much talent and I support him in his journey of exploring new genres. That being said, I think his talent showed far more in Silverchair. Not to push anything on him, but a reunion would be great. There’s a lot of people out there who would agree. I understand if he doesn’t wanna though, especially after some rough patches lately with alcohol. Rock on Daniel
Love this. The song is great and this is the first time I've actually looked more into an advert. Well done all round. Daniel, you're a musical genius.
Daniel seems enjoy so much singing with this kind of music than screaming with loud guitar distortion.., now he knew what it felt to be a pop star and a rock star.
This was released years ago and only tonight I realized just HOW COOL this project was. I liked the video before but I didn't realize how unique the makeup of it was.
Can I just say this is indeed an amazing ad that I actually clicked into for once when it appeared as an youtube ad which I usually never bother looking?! This song is absolutely perfect for this fashion campaign! Stunning set, stunning models, stunning band! Love it love it! This actually makes me happy! Well done, teams x
Chermaine Tan I completely agree. Whomever in the advertising/marketing department thought of this is genius. It is targeting a younger audience, and it does it well.
Chermaine Tan yes i agree...to a point. then i would have to say that this song is/was very important to me. has gotten me through a very difficult time in my life and i guess that i had fantasised that the first images i got to associate it with would be an equally incredible music video. this was not quite what i had in my mind. gotta say it's my first and only disappointment with either the release of the EP and the subsequent album. oh well, i'll get over it. Dan is dating a model unless i'm mistaken, so it should have come as no surprise i guess. doesn't change the fact that it is probably my favourite song ever.
Holy shit...I actually really like this, far more than I was expecting. Not too sure the actual _idea_ behind this music video worked that well. It just seems like a super complicated camera setup....all for a result that isn't all that noticeable. Though, I suppose it adds to the overall aesthetic vibe of the video. However....I _love_ Daniel's performance....and I'm kinda shocked by how much I _adore_ this song. It's super sexy and a bit weird, in the best way possible. I need to give his new album a closer listen I think....
+La Maupin haha it's kind of amazing that you have asked me this. i recently have come through a deep depression. this song in no small way responsible for that. it is a combination of both the lyrics and the strange almost haunting sonic elements. to be completely honest with you i have shed heavy gut wrenching tears to this song. snot the whole bit lol. Daniel is a very special person to me. a true musical genius, and I have followed his career since silverchair burst on the scene via JJJ's (australian radio station) unearthed program, which was designed to unearth young Australian talent. I was at one of their first festival gigs in Melbourne at the Big Day Out where people went so nuts they were jumping off the roofs of buildings into the crowd. Daniel actually stopped the gig at one point because he was worried someone was gonna hurt themselves. followed him through the Disociatives with Paul Mac, and now he releases this. what is imo a work of genius. not surprising to me. so this song holds special meaning to me. Daniel has had his own personal struggles and he has helped me through my own recently with this incredible piece of music, the EP and Talk. I feel like he's the little brother I never had. I fuckin' love this dude. and I can't wait to see what he does next. he is destined for greatness. nice talking to you my bud.
Maybe you can understand We don't need to get away Coz I had the Lion's heart Before you threw the keeper in I would trade indifference For a little tenderness But I could change my mind We could paint it black and white Challenge what the devil thinks Losing my religion's hard For it was never anything Where the hell did you come from Heaven's where the heart lives But you're original I don't wanna lift I just wanna exist But I just keep on falling Into your hands We are golden I don't wanna lift I just wanna exist But I just keep on falling Into your hands We are golden Yesterday I saw the change, Fever comin' over me I can't spend another day I'm out of money anyway Even if the curtains close Doors will open everyday Coz we're original I've been dreaming we could settle down I crumble 'til my words sound right Honest, honest, honest, honest, honest I believe the things we talk about Unravel til we've got it all Honest, honest, honest, honest,
I've been dreaming we could settle down I crumble 'til my words sound right Honest, honest I don't wanna lift I just wanna exist But I just keep on falling Into your hands We are golden [x3] 💛✨
I love the idea for the video, with imagery changing with the music, I've always wanted to see that--however, I don't understand the use of the models, which makes it seem too narcissistic. I really love Daniel's gold jacket though, it's a good look for him. As much as I love his step in this direction to try new things (even his continuous singing in falsetto doesn't bother me, it's something he hasn't done much of before), he still doesn't seem confident in his videos or interviews about his music. He just seems very nervous, and I'm wondering how that didn't come through very much in his lyrics or composition. If he's feeling this way, (which I think he is based on some comments he's made, and considering his past), I'm just surprised it's not coming out in his music, and that's what makes it seem a bit of a facade. Either way, I still love his effort, and I'll listen to anything he sings out.
bribri121994 Thanks. I have another question please. Ever since I hit puberty, when I get excited, my weenie starts to cry so I beat it and say, "STOP CRYING" but it only makes it worse. Tears are more like glue though... HELP!!
Wonder if these are the synths that were actually used on the album (kind of doubt it but you never know)... I spot Korg MS-20 Mini, Moog Sub Phatty and DSI Prophet 08.
Good to see Daniel Johns producing more music. Whatever he does he brings something new, but I still believe he needs better artistic judgement. Johns has a very impressive voice, and it's underutilized in this song singing falsetto all the way through. Some impassioned raw and high (non-falsetto) soaring notes with a rock tone, would have been well placed and well received. The song as a composition needed a break from the falsetto, a bridge even with some soul vocal improvisation would have been appreciated. Although he loves the freedom, Daniel needs a strong seasoned producer to get the best out of him, because frankly he may have the ideas, but he refuses to learn or engage artistic judgement. Creativity isn't just about feeling and random thought, judgement is very lacking in Daniel's continuing career.
Loved the sound - which brought me to this video. Find the visuals pretty annoying - just goes to show why cinematography should not be outsourced entirely to computer code - even if it's written for the purpose.
I think he is still doing alright. He recently sold a property in Bondi for over 4 mil. Plus he would still earn royalties from his heyday with Frogstomp, plus the other 4 SC albums.
heppolo Their music in Frogstomp and Freakshow sounded more like Black Sabbath and Helmet. But people can’t get past Dan’s blonde hair or the fact that the record company made their Tomorrow music video look like Smells Like Teen Spirit i.e. black and white, the clothes etc. a few months after Kurt’s death. I.e. the record company would have been gloating over the fact that it didn’t just smell like teen spirit, it bloody was teen spirit with teenagers in it!
Ironic video based on these lyrics from Freak: Seems it's in fashion To need the coldsore cream I don't really know How to put on a 'cool' show As boring as they come Just tell me where to go If only I could be as cool as you
***** Do you remember the 90s fashion and the whole waif-grungey theme around it? Probably Daniel wanted to be like Bryan Ferry even back then (which was quite unfashionable).
in the 90s glam rock (Bryan Ferry is one of the frontrunners of it) went under the radar because of the grunge and lad-attitude of britpop, two main genres of the decade
Me too and now I like him even more and I give him full support, because he dares to break his own molds and what the people expect from him. A great artist indeed.
***** Well, the video is ehh....vapid. The song is pretty good. It took me a while to like this new music, but I like listening to it sometimes. In this videos, it looks like they were just doing a series of camera "checks" to see if the cameras were working, and then said, why don't we just make these camera test shots be a muisc video...well, it didn't really work.
This is one of the most annoying and frustrating videos on RU-vid. I won't ever be setting foot in a David Jones let alone buy their over priced products.
