In this episode, we take the bike to my hardpack motocross track and do some more testing with suspension settings and a new KTech linkage. This is the final episode before we take the bike to its first event and go race it!
This review was based on a 2023 XC 300, I race the 2024 XC 300 which is a newly engineered bike. I did not think KTM can make a better bike then the 2023, but the 2024 XC300 is by far the best bike made. 90% better. Hare Scrambles and Enduros in FL for me. Plus a few GNCC's.
I really like the "rider comments" and feedback in these episodes and all the technical items related to them....like springs, sags, etc... What rear spring did you finally select for this bike and its linkage suspension?
Awesome. Love it when a plan comes together as they say… 😁 not doing anything for me sat here thinking I should’ve gone for the 300XC instead of the 300SX though! 😅 Can’t go wrong with K-Tech. 😎 Interesting to get an insight on the change of linkage ratio, not something I’ve ever played with. 🤓 Mrs 150SX has a Devol lowering link on it… but its because she’s 5’1” with her boots on. 😅 Bike’s lowered with spacers in the forks and shock, plus linkage, forks pulled through to balance and power parts low seat. Could’ve started her on a 250SX-F but after years on the 525XC RFS ATV, didn’t want her starting on two wheels thinking it would be as easy. 😅 Can always go 2T to 4T but never back the way, learn more starting with the smokers, easy afterwards on the strokers. 😁
My suspension guy Stillwell Performance is starting to get the K-tech stuff. I have KYB fork on my 23 350 and as you know, stock the rear shock is lacking in several area's. Are you pleased with the k-tech linkage kit so far?
What kind of rear tire are you running Knighter? AT81 EX? Bike looks awesome! You have some incredibly scenic riding spots on the IoM!! And thank you for all the insight!
AT 81 on this bike as it’s XC bike. Normally though I use the Dunlop Enduro EN91 and love it. Also on this track, the MX33 is great and is my preferred front tyre pretty much anywhere
