Nobody gives an interview like David Lee Roth. Nobody.
My friend Steve Fratt was a DJ at a radio station in Dallas, TX called Z-Rock (94.5 FM) and he had the opportunity to interview Diamond Dave in the studio while he was promoting his 1991 album 'A Little Ain't Enough'. There is mention of the New York Giants just winning the Super Bowl in this so that would put this interview right around late January, early February of '91.
Dave talks about the album, about his status with Van Halen and whatever else comes to his mind. Also listen for a hilarious comeback from David Lee after Steve notices that both DLR and Sammy Hagar have now recorded a song called "Baby's On Fire".
This also includes outtakes of radio station I.D.'s Roth recorded for the station that night.
Enjoy! \m/

Dave, you are so far ahead of anyone interviewing you. Your mind is amazing.

Correct me if im wrong, but I thought Z-Rock 94.5 wasnt on the air in 1991, it turned into 94.5 The Edge around 1990. Z-Rock 99.1 came back on the air in Dallas in the beginning of 92. I used to live there then and remember it very well.. Maybe ive just got my dates mixed up.

I live in the area, I remember 94.5 Z-rock then around the time the grunge era kicked off it switched to The Edge. I can’t recall the specific years

I remember there was a gap where z-rock wasn't on the air in Dallas before it moved to 99.1. 99.1 was a jazz station before that, KJZY if I recall correctly, and after z-rock took it over 99.1 they used the KJZY call letters from the previous station before they changed it to KDZR like a year later. You are right now that I think about it, it was in 91 sometime when it changed to The Edge alternative station, and if I recall correctly 99.1 was still a jazz station for a number of months before z-rock took it over at the beginning of 92. The beginning of 92 was when I 1st heard that z-rock was back again. I remember listening to 94.5 a couple of days after they took z-rock off of it and it was a spanish station for a very short time before it turned into The Edge, if I recall correctly. Its been awhile.
