David Mitchell is so good at arguing his case. Katherine Ryan quoted as saying, “don’t give birds bread, it’s quack cocaine”. I think that may be your answer to the question why is bread so good.

He did a rant about the habit in The US of saying ‘could care less’ instead of ‘couldn’t care less’. It’s very funny and you should find it on YT. Well toasted crumpets with butter are amazing I don’t know if you tried them when you were here. Yes Cholla bread (think I spelt That right ) is amazing, I agree Jodi when I was a child I lived next to a Jewish family and they often gave me a slice with real butter yum!

@@wallythewondercorncake8657 Not all US bread, but it began with Subway bread classified as "confectionery" due to sugar content. The ruling was upheld in supreme Court (Ireland?). Several US foods are banned in the EU or require different recipes to be sold there.

The one thing preppers never mention about the benefits of the apocalypse is that our taste in foods would actually correspond to the situation we were in. A 1600-calorie sandwich? -Yes, please. That means I'll survive another day. Also, pretty much all water would taste amazing regardless of whether it was radioactive or not. I'm not sure I would like everything else about it, though. Also, I'm glad to finally find some Americans who think rye bread isn't good. As a Dane, I'm always surprised at how everyone thinks it's so amazing when I thought it would be a divisive thing like liquorice (which we love here) because of the sour taste and rough texture. Kids here have to be taught to like it over white bread. I'm not sure rye bread is the same where you live though, so maybe the texture thing doesn't carry over.

That's true, but I thought it was Roman soldiers in particular? I mean it wasn't all they were paid with, but it was part of it, because of the importance of salt in physical roles. I may be remembering that wrong however

Does UK bread contain sugar? During the bread making process some of the starch in wheat flour is broken down into simple sugars, but this is used by the yeast during fermentation and very little remains in the finished bread. Most UK sliced and wrapped bread easily meets the definition for a low sugar food i.e. 5g sugar per 100g or less.

We did try bread in sandwiches and on its own. I didn’t notice a change really. There are so many types of bread here in the states and they are all unique.

The Atkins ketone diet, it is basically the same as a very old one with 1 difference. We all know that we have upper and lower digestive tract. The upper is better for digesting veg, the lower for meat. In fact the upper digesting meat isn't good. If you eat just a few veg... always above ground one, never root veg, it activates the upper and lets say keeps it occupied. As it is working on them vegetables eat a bit of meat and it will go to the lower. After doing that you can eat normally and it is still a ketone diet. But 1 more thing, have at least 14 hours with nothing, not even snacks... that includes your sleep, so it's not that difficult. Don't take my word for it though. But do look it up 😊 ❤ from Northeast England ❤️
