My great grandfather Daniels played this and it was his favorite. His violin had belonged to his father (BORN IN 1856) and now I own it. My Grandfather had always told people that he wanted me to have his violin but when he died my Grandmother refused to give it to me. My favorite Aunt picked up the violin and had her husband chase me down and he told me to grab it and run. LOL! My favorite aunt was not liked by anyone but she loved me for some odd reason. Perhaps because when she was in high school I would only allow her to hold me when I was baby.

Mr Nadien is my idol and i just made 30 and after celebrating my birthday on my way back home, put my headsets and listened to him and was sittinf on seaside appreciating the magic od his truly unique sound. Wunderbar gespielt!!! Mein Herz öffnet sich ! So wie hier gespielt, erinnert es mich an das erste Mal, als ich dieses Stück hörte. (21.12. 1950) Seitdem mein absoluter Favorit. Spiele diese Melodie fasst täglich auf meinem Piano. Einige Male zusammen mit meinem Bruder (Violine), sehe ihn leider selten, da er in Kanada lebt.
he is one of the best best violinists, unfortunately he is not as popular as others. what a pity!! listen to his performance, you will feel the sentiments that he possess compare to any others
Definitely one of my favorites as well. I think it was Oscar Wilde who said "Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months.” So, violin playing that is truly multi-layered, high-content, and integrated with a narrative will always stand the test of time. There was "fashion" back then as well. Plenty of bad playing. Many people copied Heifetz and failed miserably. No one recorded them, so we only hear the greats. These days, everyone's recorded, so finding unique and powerful talents (which do exist for sure) is difficult. So we are left with a sense of 'fashion'...

Yes- My dad and I too used to enjoy this at home after I`d done my Mazas and Kayser studies with my teacher in Kremlin Drive ! Mr Nadien seems to sense the correct tempo of this piece and plays as if hes composer! phil newton [Liverpool]
jegatsch, tks for your reply, the first time you heard this is in the 1950, bravo. I always believe that those are better days, after WW2 for quite a while, everything settled down. No digital games/devices that occupied people's time and mind. People of that generations are with quality culture and manner.
