This song takes me back to 1980, when my best friend and his wife were local champion disco dancers. We used to go watch them dance, and they often times won first place or in the top three. She died of cancer about 4 years ago, and he died last month of cancer. Thinking of you, Jeff and Sue, R.I.P.
Why? It’s not him singing! He was just the front man lip syncing for someone else who was too ugly for the camera. He didn’t even sing in the Dr. Pepper commercials! He was just a pretty boy with a big fat toy to wrap up in skintight Lycra pants! Now don’t get me wrong though. I sure as hell wouldn’t have kicked him out of my bed!

Hes talented.I knew him before the pepper commercials.I was 5 years old and he lived next door to my aunt carrie.He use to act like he was gonna throw me on top of his roof....a good guy.

David Naughton. Always loved this guy and this song! He was in the "I'm a Pepper" commercials. He made "American Werewolf in London" one if my favorite horror movies also "Hot Dog the Movie" one if my favorite skiing movies. The sitcom they made from this song was a bomb, though. I know he's still acting and seen him in different things but this is when he was on top.

I met him, again, yrs. ago, at a sci fi convention. he didn't want to be there. btw, a little trivia.. his older brother, was the brunette astronaut in the 1970's planet of the apes tv. series.

Oh wow! I had no clue David Naughton was singing this song! In July of 1978 on the 29th, I was born into the world. I miss the innocence of the world and while I don’t remember the 70’s for obvious reasons, hearing good music like this makes me reflect on what little I do remember. God I wish we could relive the past as though it were today.

This song has a cool backstory! Back in the day, when I was a young assistant engineer working with Dino Fekaris on an album for disco legend Gloria Gaynor, he shared a great story with me. The year before Makin' It came out, Dino was living in a tiny apartment in LA. He was so determined for success that he made a sign for his wall that declared: "This coming year's gonna be my year!" His positive outlook paid off! That very phrase ended up in the song - listen closely, and you'll hear it.

A superior disco ditty produced by the same team who did Shake Your Groove Thing among others!! Was also used as the theme song to the short lived TV show of the same name (only 9 episodes). Those were the good times, when life was so much simpler and enjoyable. ☺️☺️☺️
I bet many aren't aware David also starred as the singing/dancing man for the Dr. Pepper commercial; " If you drink Dr. Pepper you're a pepper, too"! Famous Director/Producer, John Landis found talent in him, as the werevolf, in " American Werewolf In London". Critics might have hated it, but Michael Jackson sure took an infatuation with the role and thus, " THRILLER" was born and became the biggest selling record, album, AND video of all time! The rest is history! No other song has even come close! Landis played a major role in that production, as well. Sadly, Naughton's career went down fast soon after this song was a huge success, ESPECIALLY in discos! Love the song; great memories with the ladies in the discos!!!
Used to go to a skating rink in the disco era. That place had disco lights and was THE place to be seen in 7th grade. LOL. This song cracks me up for a lot of reasons. It's kind of lame. But it's so lame, its awesome. I also cannot find any fault in the exceedingly positive tone of this song. It would be pure hubris to openly sing this song. But internally, I have to admit, it's a very good positive mental image for oneself. Of course the best thing he ever did was star in American Werewolf in London. Thought he vanished after that. But I looked up his IMDB profile, and there are no major gaps in his list of acting gigs. Thats solid. Seems he also does a lot of personal appearances at Horror & Sci-Fi conventions. Really seems down to earth and cool.
