NASHVILLE, TN (March 24, 2023) - The 615 Hideaway Records is proud to announce the new single “Goodbye To The Blues” from David Parmley. The new single “Goodbye To The Blues” is from Bluegrass top male vocalist and fan favorite David Parmley and is the follow up to Parmely’s two previous Hit Singles “All Dressed Up” and “West Virginia” both songs reaching #1 on the Bluegrass Today Weekly Airplay Chart. In addition, the new single includes performances with Parmley’s longtime friends Del McCoury and The Del McCoury Band.
Written by Marshall Wilborn, “Goodbye To The Blues” tells the story about someone who the blues have snuck up on and can’t seem to shake even when sitting in their favorite easy chair. And finding the strength to walk away and lose the blues, and tell the blues goodbye !
“My wife, Beckie heard the Johnson Mountain Boys performing this song on the radio and thought it would be a great song for me to do. When I listened to it, I could hear my buddy, Del McCoury cutting the tenor the meanest ever! Then the Del McCoury Band came in and we recorded it! This recording is special to me because Del, Ronnie, Rob, Jason and Alan are good friends of mine. We all go way back. When it comes to making traditional Bluegrass music, there’s none better. I’m honored to have them on my project.”
- David Parmley
“Goodbye To The Blues” was recorded at Digital Underground Recording Studio, Greenbrier, TN and produced by David Parmley and Scott Vestal containing performances by David Parmley (Vocal, Guitar), Del McCoury (Vocal), Rob MCoury (Banjo), Ron McCoury (Mandolin), Alan Bartram (Bass) and Jason Carter (Fiddle)
David Parmley began his musical career at age 15 and by the time he turned 17, he began his full-time career as a member of The Bluegrass Cardinals. That band featured his father, Don Parmley, and David's lead and baritone voice was the backbone to The Bluegrass Cardinal sound. During a 25-year period The Bluegrass Cardinals recorded 18 albums and the material is considered the finest to come out of the 70's and 80's Bluegrass era.
David Parmely left The Bluegrass Cardinals in the 90's to pursue a solo career leaning more towards a modern approach to Bluegrass Music. David Parmley and Continental Divide topped the Bluegrass Charts throughout the 90's and now Parmley is back and excited to be recording again and creating new music as well as keeping the family tradition alive!
