My first saw was simular to that one it was a rebadged Montgomery Wards it cut many cords of wood in the 80s and replaced the handle a few times. Thx Leon fun to see that saw again
I have worked on a lot of these 310&320's .carb cover usually broken taking it off to fix carb. due to throttle lever trapping fast idle unless it is trigger pulled to release it. one can use the mac cat unit to replace it. will need the matching choke plate and screws w the spacers on the screws ie short spacer on top to allow closing and 1/4 longer spacer for choke.All mac cat parts must be used. the recoil cover must have the baffel part removed as it has it on the air box. usually from it's bolt supports, just adapt to air box baffel. Or use a mac cat recoil if available. a # 10 guage house electrical wire cover stripped off of wire works. can replace throttle cable housing if greased w silicone .straighten carb end hook and rebend or cut off and rebend , shorten housing the same amount . study the hook bend before change then duplicate to avoid hang up on throttle shaft.
I wonder what 3D Printing could do for hard to find parts. Shapeways made a throttle body cable clip for my Jeep & it's still working fine 3 years later.
Leon, I just bought one of these, used but in great condition. The manual says it takes standard “LEADED” gas..... do you use leaded gas, is it still available anywhere????
Are ant autosharp parts still available? I just bought a PM 320 at a yard sale, lightly used in excellent shape with the yellow plastic case . But the sharpening button seems to be missing.
I have a McCulloch power mac 340 n its in fantastic condition but right now it wont start not getting gas so I have take it apart check fuel lines n go from there
these have a fuel pump pulse hose .ensure it is good w no crimp. the zama carbs on some has a very narrow gasket strip on the pulse area.use a wac/pressure pump on pulse hose to ck. also ensure that the hi jet adj. is ok as w choke only the eng vac pulls the fuel from the tank tru the hi jet mainly to fill the carb.a closed off / plugged hi jet prevents fuel draw on choke.
the 310,320,330 are similar except the bigger ones have 2 bar cover bolts and a different bar spacer from the one bolt bar cover and spacer on the smaller ones.
how would you take the clutch out on these my chain slips off the sprocket and get jammed don't know a part is missing or not the guy i bought it from had gotten it fixed now it does that
the clutch is similar to others in replacing. just ensure the end play is not excessive from a missing spacer washer or excess wear on teeth will cause chain jump, and lightly grease drum bearing.
Hey ! I have one now...and think it is in very good condition...but the brake is cut off. Do you think it is possible to change it...buy a new brake spring...without buying the whole cover...? You make a clip on how to ? Actually I have two of those 320...bouth working ! :-)
I sold & repaired these saw for over 20 years and never seen one of those covers broke, right now i"m working on a pro mac 410 & could use owners & parts manual if any one has one to sale or email to me
