David Samson, still trolling people and acting as if he isn't responsible for killing major league baseball in this market. A take opinions about morality of others from him like Bernie Madoff opinions on how to invest my money.
His Baseball Reference page wins the internet. The ONLY player to ever defy “Hitting is learning to handle failure.” No, for 4 years straight he got on base OVER half his PA’s. Nothing was more exciting than when your TV cut to a Bonds AB. It was more special because if you missed it, you had to wait till SC that night. No Twitter.
If the hall is about competitive accomplishment, how the player treated the media should never matter. That Barry Bonds is not in the HOF by Samson’s mouth specifically for this, and not so much the steroids, is why the baseball HOF does not matter. Hearing it said plainly is nice but still reeks of self important garbage. Sports talk matters, but not like that
Why would Barry Bonds have to tell me and the media, whom would drag him, why he juiced? Obviously he did it to be better, the best and to get into the Hall of Fame. But old crusty white dudes are offended, clutching their pearls. Half of em are drunks and the offer half have a god-complex. Give me a break. Best hitter ever and best power hitter ever. Swing as sweet as Griffey Jr. and I'm an O's fan. Real recognize real.
Samson didn't mean a public apology about steroids. He meant for Barry to get even a little personal respect back from Samson, he would need to publicly atone for the terrible way he treated many many people in and around the game.
@@walterdudedonny white guys, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba. A Rod is slurped, Barry was vilified, who cares. He doesn't owe shit to anyone, we all fall short from time to time. Give me a break. He's a pharaoh already, some scumbags respect don't mean shit. He f'ed Miami, Sampson did.
@@curtisg2195 Well, as he himself said he doesn't care if people like him or not. But as much as Miami was f'd as you say, Samson was going all in for Loria. Doing the business of being in business. Mo' money. Don't get me wrong, he isn't blameless. But he was hired to do all that.
@@walterdudedonny can't argue with any that but to me Sampson comes off as a snide pretentious prick and he lets his feelings get in the way that you can't tell the story of baseball without the 90's ratings collapse followed by Mark n Sammy then Bond's saving this boring old money games life. Not a lover of Bonds but come on, dude's a freak. So much more fun chasing those records decades ago. Like Golden State must see!
Hey friend. I’m not an old crusty white dude. But Bonds shouldn’t go anywhere near the Hall of Fame. He shouldn’t even be allowed in the city of Cooperstown. Without steroids he was on pace for about 680-690 career homers. He never hit over 50 before 2001 when he got 73. The man didn’t just juice, he juiced harder than anybody ever.
Half the players in the Game were juicing in the 90’s. THATS WHY IT WAS THE STEROID ERA!!! Bonds didn’t start using until he got hurt in ‘98 to recover and compete with all the other juicers
As a GM/VP, I’m sure this dude has fired people, under the guise of doing his job. That’s ok, because it’s his job. Barry Bonds using steroids didn’t put anyone out of work, put their financial stability in jeopardy, or anything close. It’s weird what we see as ok and not ok. This clown is the epitome of why I hate baseball writers and opinion givers.
"You can't not respect someone that you don't know" might be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard in my life. You can very much not respect people that you've never met. You can know quite a lot about someone without ever meeting them
It’s great that they don’t even remember this anymore but the beeps were originally from Mission impossible which is the obvious sound overlay to weekend observations
So, can we get the option of watching the full hour? I get releasing an edited version for people with less time, but when I see this 30 minutes shorter than the version in my podcast feed, I have no interest in this edited crap.
The one thing I don't care for that man's argument against Barry bonds, is the fact that one of the main reasons he said he or many won't vote for him is because he never was apologetic or admitted to the public after his playing days. But I do remember Mark McGuire eventually coming out and saying he took steroids but he's still not in the Hall of Fame. So what difference does it make confessing or not when you're not going in the HOF regardless? People arguing against the steroid era players can't convince me from these lame duck excuses
